This song was like a helping hand pulling me from bottom of my live while in the hard corner of one where suicidal tendencies starts. Now as a happy man i`m every time crying listening this and getting flashbacks. Being stronger mentally as i ever been, i`m going forward with head up grabbing every one doubting in their own fate with myself. Powerful piece of art this song is.

Some of their videos have over a million views, it's a shame that album didn't sell a million copies. It's probably one of the most influential metal records of all time.

This song from The Gathering is still my all time favorite. ❤

There's no such band like The Gathering, truly unique. I'm so proud to be a part of their lives as I worked for them as their merchandiser, I will never forget all the shows I've witnessed in the nineties 💚

I love how she handles rude shouters at her acoustic concerts, this woman rocks so much... And I never for a second saw her loosing her shit and be unpolite.. Amazing human being.

If anyone is interested in knowing, the quote at the end was by a French feminist writer and philosopher named Simone de Beauvoir and the quote was recited by J.R.R. Tolkien. Tolkien quoted de Beauvoir in a BBC documentary from the 60's. The audio clip here is taken from that documentary.

I don't think so. I had to google it, but it looks like the audio clip at the beginning of Eleanor is from a National Geographic documentary. Such an amazing song.

Anneke was soo hot and beautiful back then. I still think she is hot and beautiful but she was way younger then and I loved her long beautiful hair. Her voice is so awesome. I loved the way her voice sounded in holding notes, very beautiful voice indeed, with the unique sound the band has!

If you are not a metal fan after listening to this song than you will never be !

Not that she doesn't now, but back in those days they were all young. I mean, I'm 22, lol. So I was never there or anything, but I wish I had the chance to be 18-20 in the mid 90's, having the chance to see one fo their performances. Damn.

Rock im Park 1999, I think. She wore a yellow mini dress, green football socks and sneakers.

An epic performance by everyone. It was by random chance in 1995 that discovered this band while listening to a Century Media compilation. Amazing vocal by Anneke and excellent song writers by the everyone involved.

She was (is) sooooooo gorgeous and loveable! :) (that is what I call pure charisma!)

The Gathering + Anneke = the most amazing song ever created I love them both, but today is not as good as the old times

I was there, Aneke drank a cup of coffee with me, then she promised me sing on my wedding... Great times.

I love The Gathering, have ever since I first encountered them. Sand and Mercury will probably forever be one of my favourite songs, it's so magical and mesmerizing.

It's J.R:R Tolkien talking about life and death: there's no such thing as a natural death nothing that happens to man is ever natural since his presence calls the whole world into question all men must die, but for every man his death is an accident and even if he knows it in a sense to it an unjustable violation whether you may agree with the words or not but those are, the key-spring of the lord of the rings
