Remake, not a remaster. A remaster would be the cheap and lazy way out _(remaster is basically just them upscaling textures basically)_ and there'd be no guarantee that the game would even consistently look better than the original as a result. YES! I thought that creative engine was gone after No Mercy, but the DefJam games revived and kind of evolved that engine, the gameplay felt more streamlined and smoother to play in those games.

"Def Jam: Fight for New York" is one of the greatest games on the PS2...one of the greatest ever made. I need a remaster or port on current gen consoles.

They should reboot it.But you'd have two major issues with today's so-called rappers. 1# Copyrighted music issues. 2# This generation of rappers would literally find a way to have real beef in the streets behind this game. I,d pit today's rappers against rappers from the early 2000s, the 90s and the 80s with the Unreal Engine 5. You could upload your own mix tapes.

I never played Icon (dodged that bullet) but I have a theory about the production of Homecourt. I think they sat down in a meeting and said "Lets take everything that was good about the first 3 NBA Street games and throw it away. Then lets add all these features from our sim basketball game that are completely out of place in this arcade style franchise."

I liked NBA street homecourt it was unique to the shoes you were able to unlock, play in tournaments, and if you got enough points to do a game breaker. I always thought the dunk mechanics were weird though. Other than that, I thought it was a good game.

That franchise blew me away. The replay value was infinite for games in general in that era, I used to play this for HOURS. I never knew what happened and you video cleared it up for me :)

It's a definite classic 😎 I couldn't see the new rapper's doing it, final move would have too many foam cups involved lol good video.

Once they switched the fighting engine with ICON that was it. Everyone knows a fighting game needs a fluent engine.

This bring back memories I had so many created characters on fight for NY

Imagine making a Def Jam 2020... With new gen rappers wearing skinny jeans saggin, skirts and hitting each other with a purse and sh!t.

This video sums up everything I thought about this series. Spent hours at a time playing Fight For New York on Gamecube. Icon definetely ruined it.

I remember playing def jam vendetta for hours and when ffny came out it was worst because i spent so much mixing and matching different fighting styles and stats, and I loved the character customization, the clothes, jewelry, toys and hairstyles were all aging. I feel and hope def jam makes a comeback because this is an iconic game for my childhood.

They should just re-release FFNY for switch as a starting point.

This was my fav game I played so many times and made so many deff styles of fighters... man, all the diff girls and choices you could make it was fun and ahead of its time

I feel it can come back no doubt we talking about one of the greatest games of all time

I played Def Jam:FFNY a couple days ago & it’s still fun asf

You hit this nail on the head bud couldn’t of said it any better my self. Although it would be cool if they made a new def jam with the old rappers in their prime vs the new rappers so we could just do what we wanna do in real life and whoop their ass. Lol That would never happen though and it still wouldn’t be the same. I’d rather reminisce like you said.

I remember playing this game like it was yesterday, beating the story for the first time was so satisfying and unlocking all the characters too Def Jam FFNY and San Andreas will be my most memorable experiences from my childhood and my top favorite games of all time.

One of my favorite fighting games is DefJam Fight for NY! Now I'm gonna look for it.

Goodness gracious your reminded me how bad icon was I forgot just how much we hated playing that back in the day we damn near the same age so we've had that same reaction to the original Def Jam games. Playing Def Jam after watching Rap City was a must.

I played the single player story so much probably one of the best games ever

I loved Def Jam Icon because that's what I grew up with and it was my first introduction to the Def Jam series. It takes some time to get the controls down but when you do man it gets HYPE especially when you know when the drop is about to hit so you throw someone into the hazard and taunt at the perfect moment.

You are awesome man, awesome review, I remember when I was a kid, I had the def jam 1 and played that game over and over did the campaign several times. But when Icon came, I was so hyped bought the game as soon as I could, and the funny thing was I only played it once, i didnt want to play it anymore, while the first game I played the shit out of it.

Icon was really really bad.. they had a “dj” bass boost thing. Man.. it was horrible. Like my mind hurts when I talk about it rn. Great channel

Never got around to playing these games but they sure were hype back then, smooth graphics and gameplay, funny thing is that I was was wondering what happened to them. I would love to see a comeback on the new consoles fo sure.
