I was at this game. My mom and dad got me tickets for my sixteenth birthday. One of my best gifts.
Rozier frequently played only two quarters. Sometimes he might get a series to start the second half, but he was frequently on the bench very early with the game well in hand. He was setting all of those records while playing for only half of a game. Absolutely electrifying player, and truly incredible to see in person. GO. BIG. RED.
He was an absolute tank.
Rozier was a truly great running back blessed with a truly excellent offensive line and quarterback. That's one heck of a recipe for success
Mike Rozier was an absolute beast!! Such a pleasure to watch his agility on the field. Freak athlete that had no quit in his game. GBFR ☠️☠️☠️☠️
Beast Mode!!!
I remember watching this at a car dealership, Fred Jones Ford, 41st and Memorial in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was raining there as well
Cool seeing this again. The most yards, but I never really considered this to be Mike's best game or even close as a Husker. I think he slipped on the field at least twice or he would have had a couple more long scoring runs. It boggles the mind to think what the 83 Scoring Explosion might have done on the brand-new Astroturf of '84. That field was so beat up and worn it was like playing on concrete. I think Rozier's best game was probably the one against Oklahoma State in 1982. Billed as a matchup between two of the nations top Backs, Rozier of Nebraska and Ernest Anderson for the Pokes. Mike ran for I believe 254 yards and scored 4 Touchdowns and made some of the most amazing runs I have ever seen by anybody to this day. Can't find any highlights from that game. The run where he trucked over their All-Conference corner and drove him some 5 yards deep in the endzone from about the 3 yard line still blows my mind. I think the Husker defense limited Anderson to about 86 yards. He's been averaging about 175 yards or more per game. I'd also like to see more highlights of the 83 Iowa State and both the 82 (which I saw live) and 83 K-State games if you can find them. Thanks much for the upload.
GBRed!!!
Looks like the Oline should have won the Heisman. i could average 6 yards a carry with the holes they were opening up.
Against Kansas. 😒
