My dad died in 2005 and I was left homeless and broke fast forward to 2020 I own a 4 bed detached house and drive a brand new mercedes. This song came on radio other day it brought back memories. One of the best songs ever recorded. Even my late Dad, who was into Bowie, the Stones, the Beatles said to me as a 12 year old - the Game and 50 nailed the lyrics. At the time I thought he was just trying to bond with his son, but now I realise he was right. 🙏

This is one of the best hip hop songs of all time. The driving Soul-filled beat, the horn sample from The Trammps, the bars, the rags-to-riches story, & the chemistry between Game & 50 (ironic), are all magical. There for sure may be better rap songs, but, it doesn't get much better than this. It's era-defining yet timeless.

Chemistry? I have reason to believe 50 doesn't write anything. He is kind of like the Milli Vanilli of Hip Hop, but in reverse. Instead of lip singing the song. Someone writes the songs, and he just raps it. So he maybe the biggest poser in the history of hip hop.
