    My dad loved baseball as well, he signed with the Chicago Cubs and played in the Virginia League Tripple A ball! He never played in the majors as he left and joined the Navy. He was a loader in a 5" 38 on the biggest battleship, USS Wisconcin, and saved everyone in his mount when a round misfired. He pulled the round from the breach and tossed it into the ocean just before it exploded! I'm blessed to be here!

    I think Cumberland Mine produces "metallurgical" coal for the production of steel and other metals. It's some special stuff. The "Tesla Fuel" mostly is coming out of the Powder River Basin of Wyoming though not exclusively, a goodly amount of that is also coming out of Kentucky and West (by God) Virginia. We load and ship hundreds of thousands of tons of it through the ports here in Hampton Roads.

  • @brnmcc01

    @brnmcc01

    @@mikep1085 Yep, but that's still like orders of magnitude better for the environment than drilling for oil out in the gulf. If you get a big coal, spill, oh well. Just call in Hulcher, and vacuum it all up and send it back to the prep plant to clean it up and sell it. If you spill a huge amount of oil in the gulf (Deepwater Horizon) or Prince William (Exxon Valdez) sound, well, you not only cannot sell that product, but it's a little bit more expensive to clean up. Using coal to generate electricity to fuel electric vehicles is far less total emissions and BS to deal with. Also, it's a whole lot better to use USA mined coal, than buying oil from some shithole country that doesn't even like us. National security and all that. Keep it USA made!

    Them cars on that railroad were made in a small town near me. Mt. Orab at trinity. I’m about 1 hour away from it and CCET leases the line from NS. NS is abandoning about 20 miles of that line right now and will be given to the state of Ohio late this year.

    Dave, I thought I liked my job, but I believe you like yours more. lol I have some questions: 1 how wide is the typical right of way? 2 On a curve are tracks "banked" ever? 3 do the cars have any braking of their own and if so, how does that work? When I've been out west you can't believe how long the coal trains are and how often they are spaced. Thanks for your time, Lee

  • @ccrx6700

    @ccrx6700

    20 күн бұрын

    Typically the mine owns 150 feet on both sides of the track, in some places they own even more. All of our curves are banked except those in the yard tracks. Banking a curve is called super elevation in the curve. Every car has it's own set of brakes on each truck on both ends of the car. When there is a drop in air pressure on the train brake line, that signals to the control valve on the car to apply air pressure to the brakes. A drop in air pressure on the train line can be initiated by the loco operator via a handle or if the cars separate going down track by themselves then all the air is dumped out and the train goes into emergency where the brakes on all cars are applied full on. Really appreciate your taking the time to visit with us and may you have a very good day my friend.

    People don't realize that you need coal to make high-carbon steel (really any carbon-bearing steel). It's where the carbon comes from. You want to get rid of hardened steel?!!! Because getting rid of coal is where you get rid of hardened steel. Burning it in power plants, while a bit less clean than other methods, is still the only way communities are able to get power. The two power plants where I live were coal up until a little while ago and I live within throwing distance of Niagra Falls! We just can't live without it.

    I just wanted to thank you for for the interesting content. I’ve been really sick for the past 6 months or so and your videos have brightened some truly depressing days. I hope when I get feeling better I can make a trip down there so I can thank you in person. Take care and God bless.

I don't know about "perfect role model" tho, I'm just a regular guy who does his job. Really appreciate your taking the time to visit with us and may you have a very good day my friend.

    Very cool Dave. The drone operator has some skill. I wouldn't have tried to take it through the tunnel while close to the train. Speaking of which ... I think you've covered it before, but what is that on the mast on the front end of #22? And how are those remote-control electrically powered hopper cars working out? Condolences to you and his family on the passing of Terry. I know he is missed. I'm looking forward to the video being released, I'm interested in watching it. Stay safe sir, it's turning into a hot summer ... feels like about 200 degrees with 500% humidity down here next to the Atlantic and Chesapeake Bay.

    You are right about that Robert, he is a professional and goes all over the world doing drone videos. He showed me one where he flew his drone down into a volcano in Iceland, it was just awesome to see that lava bubbling up, melted a few things on his drone too! We currently have one of the new cars on our train and that mast sends the signals from the loco to that car. Very hot and humid here too. Thank you very much for taking the time to check out the video and may you have a very good day my friend.

    So it is just a first impression, but your channel is the foundation of Iron Synergy's idea to make a professional video. And it is rare to see a corporation so conscious about keeping things up. I can just imagine the "playing to win" example they set causes everyone to be more willing to look out for the company's interest.

    Well I don't know about that Cecil, but upper management and the owner do watch my videos and have told me they like them. You are right about the rarity we are seeing. Iron Senergy is doing a wonderful thing here in not only setting an example for other industries and railroads but also in showing that safety is in deed a top priority, not just a bunch of signs hanging around saying work safe. And you are right also, it certainly does improve the moral of the men. Really appreciate your taking the time to visit with us and may you have a very good day my friend.

    Thank you for the very nice comment Jim. I saw the footage of the drone going over the top of the loco in the tunnel and it was pretty disappointing, it was way to dark in there to see anything. Oh well. Really appreciate your taking the time to visit with us and may you have a very good day my friend.

    Thank you for the nice comment Wondering Lens. I don't know if my videos started the pro production or not, but what my videos have done is put forth a good positive public image of this company and our railroad. And something that is not well known by folks is that it is good PR for our selling out coal. Customers want to buy from someone who is reliable and has a safe operation. Really appreciate your taking the time to visit with us and may you have a very good day my friend.

    $75,000 per track mile for 16 miles of track = one million, one hundred fifty two thousand backaroos - Thats a bit of money there. Ill be waiting to see that video they are making. Hopefully they are using Davinci Resolve to edit the footage. _(Thats what I use, video coming really really REALLY soon on that)_ I have also been working on the levitating locos and I think I have a break through. Will be posting a video on that soooon. That drone footage I bet looks amazing though. I wish I had A DRONE to do filming with. Darn things cost a penny or 2. Glad you have really good owners too. It makes a huge difference for work place morale, that's for sure. 👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣
