Somehow I recall the whimsical designs for "the future of transport" that scientific and transport related magazines showed back from 30 to 60 years ago... and rarely any made to commercial reality. Some died as wild prototypes. Yet, I love to see these dreams people have.

One of the many things I like about this show is that you Brits speak English so much better than us Yanks. Dang!! By the way, does Lara have an unmarried identical twin sister that would like to live in Idaho and milk two dozen goats every morning? If so, have her drop me a line.

Basically, with the driverless concept shown in the first part of the show they are telling you that you will own nothing and be happy. All the vehicles will be basically state owned and you can't drive them period... But you will be expected to pay for them..

So, the airline industry will still be responsible of the production of lots of CO2 with the Production of hydrogen, it's also expensive to pull hydrogen from water. So the production of hydrogen has to change, hence the movement against hydrogen vehicles. I'll be traveling via #SpaceX shuttles once the cost is reduced.

I totally agree with you, Elon did not come up with these design as they have been around for over 100 years in sci-fi books and comics, it is far too expensive to make over large distances and its cheaper to use traditional trains. Like many of Elon designs, they may look good with Computer Graphics, however not at all practical to build. Just look at the Las Vegas system, a bunch of family cars driving through tunnels with flashing lights, the through-put of people is tiny compared to a normal underground train system.

In 1799, inventor George Medhurst proposed an idea to move goods through cast-iron pipes using air pressure. In 1844, he built a railway station (for passenger carriages) in London that relied on pneumatics until 1847.

@@kevingo2892 I see the concept, but the hyperloop is even worse since it's supposed to be a vacuum in the tube to remove drag and allow for higher speeds. However, there are lots of safety concerns, not to mention the price tag for building and operating something like this. Let's just say there's a reason this idea has been abandoned several times before, and will be this time around too....
