the lack of realm clearing incentives have really killed the game for me since realm clearing and godlands clearing are the only things I still want to do in this game

I really agree with this, since the endgame content is basically discord only, and as a new player I cannot experience it on my own, it would take too long. And the realm is also really empty, with very little to do. I like the dungeon grinding sometimes and exploring new ones, but there is no new content. No content we can interact with, such as NPCs or potentially stores and checkpoints throughout the realm. It is in the name, Realm of the Mad God, and it is being very neglected. I also feel the O1 to O2 to O3 progression is awful. You basically storm through both incarnations, and the final form is absurdly difficult to complete and even open. The game currently is Pay to Experience Fun Content, because the natural progression is muddled in all sorts of ways.

@@bruniasty1919 I think darza's dominion had a really good solid realm clearing. 4 big 'guardians' which each drop a dungeon, after killing all 4 you fight darza, who has great loot. Nice and simple.

Tbh the focus on structuring events around key sales instead of making the realm itself more appealing has been the most egregious thing about realm recently, there is almost no incentive to clear realms. The result is every server but USeast (key popping/trade server) being almost completely empty, and the latter being crowded or full 24/7, with everybody just idling in the nexus.

I think the main issue is that the vast majority of the original player base is getting older and they have more important things to do at this point in their life, to add onto that, the new player experience, marketing, etc is so horrible that they haven’t retained or even gained enough of the younger generation to grind their lives away during their middle and high school years as so many of the Og players did. This is the fundamental problem with the game above all of the other issues that already plague this game as it is. I personally started playing in 2012, and I haven’t played consistently since 2020 for two reasons. I have more responsibilities in my real life and also the game content isn’t interesting to me. Just my thoughts.

This. I feel that despite the original playerbase and the ones who stick around are leaving due to responsibilities and less time, though the game, if polished properly, could definitely garner many players... The monetization is scaring away any new players. There are probably more offers in the store than there are dungeons.

yup most people started playing on school computers or at home right after coming back from school. now the ones who remain are all playing after our full time job or on the weekend and cant be as dedicated as we used to be. It feels like the cycle has stopped, no more new younger players are logging on at school and telling all their friends about the game. I feel like thats how the game spread in the first place, it spread through school and kids telling all their friends about it. personally in 2011 i told a couple friends to join me on the game and a few weeks later almost every guy in the school was on realm like 200+ people lol

Damn I remember when the game didn’t NEED events, now it feels like it’s surviving off them

Basically. If a community-wide boycott was set up this game would shut down within a month or two, considering events bring people in, and they are run off of keys and discords mainly. There is a tiddly wink of In-Realm content, but who cares when you got keys? "It is easier".

My issue right now is it seems Deca just abandoned the game. There's many small bugs that seem they will never get fixed. And Deca will forget chunks in every update. Right now, Deca forgot about the reindeer pets giving stat bonuses, they forgot about the stat boosting oryxmas items, and they forgot to upload the OST of the Kobalt dungeon. Also they done this before with forgoring to add Halloween music, and stuff like that.

they honestly need to focus everything on making the game new player friendly. That and better trailers/ads for the game, the only way the game will stay alive is if there is an influx of new players. It could also be so cool to see the (reworked) low and mid lands full of people, over time the player density in the realm has shifted way into the middle of the map.

As soon as the ppe mode I was waiting years for was turned into a seasonal mode to be able to profit off it I pretty much decided realm wasn't for me anymore.

The fact that we didn't get a good free pack on Christmas really pissed me off

The most disappointing thing to me was that the small issues were still in the game. The death shrooms at candy miner even turning from trees to shrooms, multiple glitches that were "fixed" in the past. Hell... orxy doesn't even call the events by their Christmas names. It's little stuff like that that makes me not want to support the game, because if the little things get ignored the bigger things fall apart 😕. Also did they even give us a free/fame Christmas box?

I will keep playing this game, it is a fun little shooter I recently started playing, but the monetization is awful. And I agree, the amount of little bugs is egregious. I will keep playing just levelling my character, although I do see this game dying soon if this keeps up!

We got like 4 different maxing candies pretty much. And nothing free... Not a char slot or vault slot

Deca definitely did wonders for the game, but they sure as hell feel undercut in terms of team power. It feels like everything has always been under crunch in there, and without the best most known devs like Toastrz or Mruni the man power of Deca's been shit and it's showing. I don't think they'll be able to commit to the idea of having an update every 2 months with the battle passes for long

I've played a bit of the christmas event and what I found to be really sad is the fact, that the economy of this game has died. Back in the days I loved grinding pots in gland dungeons just to trade it in for life potions to have a feeling of wealth. I always wished for a semi-automatic marketplace with offers, and fees maybe just to make trading more fun and not as time consuming as it was.

US-East is still a viable trading server and I played rotmg back in 2013 - the other servers were never that great for trading either.

I've definitely played less, I was even holding out all year for the Black Friday coin deals but when I was about too I didn't feel like it and passed on it

Funny thing, there was supposed to be a oryxmas trailer, after vindication failed Afro offered to create the oryxmas trailer for deca in exchange for some ingame currency, back then they agreed, but shortly before oryxmas acalos told afro he isn't allowed to create one because of 'legal reasons', which is why there is no oryxmas trailer this year

I came back to the game and man, there are a lot of stuff that I feel have gotten worse… overall if I had to say anything I just hope we get more events. The game feels dead outside of them to me. And on top of that, the BP exp has issues… the exponential gain is so bad

personally as a player returning to oryxmas after not plating for a year or so, i really enjoy the seasonal characters and the missions. i do miss the f2p campaign and the realm clearing, but with some friends that also returned after a while of not playing, the seasonal characters are really fun, also i can get a free ice crown without having to do shatters (which i still dont know how to do lol).

The missions are definitely a step in the right direction. My hope for future seasons is weekly missions with more creative goals to achieve. I completed all the missions that aren't just massive endgame dungeon completion goals and now have half a season with nothing interesting to do on seasonal.

I've been playing the game for about 2.5 months now. It's been really fun recently with all the events. However, it's only fun if you get into USE because people/admins pop tons of keys and chain all the time. I maxed 2 seasonal characters and I joined a guild that does guild runs everyday. I completed my first void in the past 2 weeks, then did 20 more. However, I noticed I barely go into the realm because nobody wants to do pub exalt dungeons with 3 people. I'd rather wait to join a popped dungeon because then we have way more people who know what they are doing. I also haven't succumbed to buying any keys myself so it's a win-win.

For me it was most fun going after Divine pet, which took quite a lot of time and effort. Once I got it in 2014 the fun aspect went downhills and I have literally quit for years with occasional playing every few months. But eventually I quit altogether. Now I wish I did not start to play it the first place, as I could use that high school time to get better at much more useful life skills, which I masked with being good at games.... Whatever better late than never :D

It has always just been Chest Events and it will always stay like that. The fact there is no reason to go in a realm and you just go in big groups requires you to be listening to a discord where you are probably not allowed to speak, and you can only be as efficient as others if your friends group has people that spend thousands and thousands on dungeon keys If progress and efficiency is what used to be fun for me, it now no longer is because if you play in your friends/guild group, you are not efficient nowadays. It is not fun grinding being muted in a discord all day long just to get to run dungeons as efficient as others

I don't think realm can be saved with anything other than the realm rework right now. Its an MMORPG game, you don't beat MMORPG's you just burn out. Unfortunately there is only so much you can do in the game and at some point players realise that there's no longer any point in any of it. Whether you've exalted a character completely or not, at some point you just reach this point where you think there's nothing else to do but to wait for newer content. The bosses don't change, the dungeons don't change, everything just becomes a daily routine at some point

Contentwise the update was nice, but for oryxmas as an event period? heck no

I like every exalt dung events, cause clearing realm and godland so boring. You just cant die in realm, so you`ll get 30 mins of action in realm shats or 10 mins in o3, and sleep out of boredom other hour of clearing

Realm of the Microtransactions, Endless Grind and Poinless Rewards

I think the major events are so much less rewarding because the straight up stole the most desirable rewards to put on the battle pass. They ain't gonna give you a vault unlocker cuz there's one on the battle pass. However they also don't want to make the pass too rewarding cuz that'd be too obviously pay to win and having a new one each month would cause power creep, so they fill the pass up with junk and we never get the really cool end tier rewards we used to get from campaigns. The missions could be the way to fix this but it means events are gonna remain crap. I really wish they'd just remove the battle pass.

A scrap and rebuild project with the game would be the best in my opinion. Stuff is so messy, almost in an irreversible state. Though this would absolutely piss off everyone, since all of the money spent on it would be for nothing. (But in the end, does losing purchased pixels matter?)

My issue with vindication wasn't the trailer or the battle pass, but rather that compared to antimony and reconstruction there wasn't much there. The removal of the campaign got rid of a lot of the reason for f2p players to play the event. You only got a similar experience to old motmgs when you paid for the battle pass, which rubbed me and others the wrong way.

The game has been over saturated with shitty events for a long time and deca doesn’t give any incentive to do anything outside of exaltation dungeons. I would like there to be events that give you a reason to run godlands dungeons like the interregnum event that dropped exclusive items. 1.5x and chests don’t really matter

To be fair the oryxmas event is kinda decend. I personally would've liked to have a chance of buying stuff for fame or something since lots of old and new players dont want to spend money in game. Afterall fame is something you work for

The battle pass is good in theory on its own but for not g and pry mad they still need the big events. Especially for free to play players the battle pass really doesnt give you anything and the “events” have been so ahit since the release of the battle pass

I didn't feel inspired by the past few events, in not great at the game but the events especially chest based events were kinda just not there for me...oh boy lemme waste 30 seconds on a chest or a bonus meh boss to spawn.

I for one have never been less motivated to play during Oryxmas events.

I kinda quit ROTMG. I have like 1.5k hours. I was always played as a casual player. I was able to do o3 but never tried reworked shatters. So I would like to share my thoughts with you guys. First of all, every grind game repeats itself. But Rotmg achieved something so important. Some of the end game dungeons are so satisfying to complete. Biggest and most iconic example is o3. Osanc is so satisfying to do and drops are so fun to use too. But unlike before, ROTMG has no early and mid game for so long. Realm, realm dungeons and realm items needs a big big rework. I wanna struggle to reach end game. I wanna say "woooow" when I see a person with end game items. Because that's what makes MMORPG games fun. It's not fun if every single person who played at least a little bit has osanc whites. Tiered items should be more rare and impactful in its current level. You should be happy when you got an upgrade. You should achieve end game slowly. You should use most items of that class to be stronger. Like imagine there are some early game dungeons that has unique and fun drops. Imagine you grind pirate cave to drop an unique cannon themed quiver which deals a burst and explodes in impact. Items should be less linear. "THIS IS A BOW. BOW SHOULD BE DEAL DECENT DMG AND DECENT RANGE. BOW SHOULD THROW 3 PROJECTILES. IF IT'S A CROSSBOW, IT SHOULD DEAL LESS DMG AND THROW ONE PROJECTILE BUT FASTER ATTACK SPEED." Most items are the same. I don't wanna statcheck my enemy. I wanna see unique projectiles and items that can give you specific stats or give you useful passives. This game lacks content. New dungeons are getting harder and more confusing and It's not a bad thing but we're getting further from early game. That's what made me quit. I'm bored. Feel free to correct me.

Another problem is that with all the endgame dungeons, you have no incentive to do the mid tier dungeons like oryx court because the loot is simply better on top of the exalts.

@@sherbase I was grinding some exaltations dungeons only just for some of their items are fun to use. But the fact that osanc alone can give you best items in game is so absurd. You could grind one dungeon and get the best set you ca get.

Previous years-long player. Stopped playing because all of the updates, new UI, etc. make the game feel to kid friendly. IMO late Kabam era/early Deca era of rotmg was best. I have a lot of really great memories playing this, but the game is so different now. And imo ruined.

Its because they put in too much time into moneymaking ways then the actual game. You should watch josh strife hayes (if i spelled that correctly) video on it.

This is why I quit realm. Deca just doesn't update the game as well as they once did. It's just all chest events and yeah. And that's it. Welp.

halloween was 100% THE MOST disappointing event for me this entire year it was just so much worse than every other year and they forgot to add back one of the damn uts and didnt even give us the bloody cloak bp back i just didnt like it.

Thing that keeps me away is the insane skill curve, one mistake and it's all gone yeah that's cool.....sure hope all new cool dungeons don't just instakill you!!!!....right...?.....

Yes... You gotta spend money to have fun. Not every child has a hundred dollars to flush down the toilet, maybe you're an adult with a job. This is the reason no new players are joining, since a game of this style most definitely attracts kids and teens. And you aren't achieving anything. You are just purchasing keys to entirely skip what the game is revolved around: The Realm. Though yeah, the Realm is being really ignored, and all we get now is dungeons, and no actual new content which the player is able to interact with in the realm, such as NPCs. Edit: And adding dungeons is really just same turd coated with a different air freshener.

I have been playing for years, and it breaks my heart to see player munbers decline. Something must be done to get new players in, and they have to do it quickly before the worst comes to pass.

This event is buttcheeks. I'm sad I missed vindication, the pass had some nice skins and rewards. Current season pass is pretty ass skins wise, rewards are okay but the ancient blueprints in current rotation are junk.

Remember when you could feel somewhat good about playing the game and not feel like a noob because you dont grind 75 exalt dungeons and outclassed by incels?

I came back to RotMG after years (used to play in wild shadows era) , so it is being fun, because I found a lot of new content (obviously). But the lack of a market to encourage trading after this much time, and the game experience being a looot easier *couch*wlab*cough* is just disappointing

Stopped playing this months ago, I spent so much fking time everyday on this game, I had fun at first but holy fk the development dont give a rat ass about this game anymore. My life has improved immensely after I stopped playing this.

After the release of Vindication, I noticed some really weird lore with very yikes anti-semitic undertones. The overwhelming and vitriolic response I got on the subreddit for pointing it out made it clear just how much of a Nazi bar that game really is, and I quit. Especially with how much they're trying to get people to join discords, I'm not joining a discord server filled with fucking nazis.
