ABOUT THIS VIDEO
I've been waiting 50 years to experience analog synthesizers responding intuitively and immediately to pitch, timbre and volume changes from the slightest movements of my fingers on a keyboard! In this video, you'll see and hear unprecedented control of one of the most extreme patches I've ever made. It incudes (4) Vintage ARP 2600's synthesizers and (1) Vintage 1969 Moog IIIc modular synthesizer playing all at once in unison mode or where each modular synth is playing a separate voice in the chord. I've never heard my favorite all-time analog synths sounding so musical, so different and just so good!
To accomplish this task, we are using 5 channels of Haken Audio CVC (Control Voltage Converter) to receive MPE messages from an Expressive E Osmose and also from a Haken Audio Continuum. These state of the art MIDI controllers are able to understand the players most subtle finger movements and immediately translate those messages to the CVC. Without any perceivable latency, the CVC can then send 4 independent control voltages to alter any parameter in real-time on any one of the synths being used as a voice.
My special guest, Osmose and Continuum expert performer Josh Madoff demonstrates all the features on both of these keyboards by playing musical examples. I'll be explaining what's going on, playing some duets with Josh and also providing an in-depth breakdown of the patches on each synth. I'm optimistic that we'l be seeing controllers n the near future delivering higher and higher levels of artistic experiences for performers. Please enjoy the this presentation and let us know what you think in the comments section. Thank you for your support, it means everything to us!

I just watched this entire video on my big screen TV. With a great sounding system. And talk about being blown away. If I were younger and not battling cancer, I'd have this keyboard setup tomorrow. These two synth geniuses bring a wealth of creativeness to the entire synthesizer world. Hats off to both of you. Can't wait to see and hear what you've got coming next, Anthony. You're the best!!😊

The amazing thing about the Continuum is that its first version has existed since 1999. Let that sink in. I've been using it only for 12 years, though. Risky to play it on stage, just the way I like it.

Get the Behringer 2600! I'm not kidding! For over 20 years I've been an avid HATER of Behringer gear, for it would explode at night without it even being plugged in (LOL!). They've 100% upped their game since 2015 or so and last year, I got the chance to buy a 2nd hand B-2600 and it blew me away! I was THÁT impressed.... with a, what I used to call, a "MEHringer"! I've bought their Model D and Pro 800 as well and they all sound incredible and most importantly: they still work and do the job! :D

This is the best demonstration of MPE controllers and analog synths I’ve ever seen, and probably the best ever made. Hats off to Haken for the CVC connective tissue, and to the two of you and Rob Rosen for collaborating to make this magic happen! Absolutely thrilling!!!

Roli went bankrupt because people didn't buy into this "redesigning" of the traditional keyboard. Now they have passed on all their IP to a company called Luminary. I wonder if they will fare any better or if people will still be resistant to the technology. Only time will tell.

This is super exciting and inspiring, cutting edge for sure. Getting Wendy Carlos/Clockwork Orange/Tron vibes early on in this video. Very nice. This is the perfect continuation from hanging at Mike Deans place with his freeforrm style. The best part here is the duet at the 19:00 mark where you two perform together... Magical. Its crazy to hear/witness the literal evolution of the sythesizer using The Moog 3C... Its kinda like time travel or something... its like that Moog was just waiting all this time for an expressive keyboard to be invented and connected to it.

These sounds totally reminds me of Vangelis. In some way he was super expressive with his synth sounds, maybe because he used the Yamaha CS-80 that offered more control over the notes that other synths of the era. Very enjoyable video!

It's kind of sad Vangelis past before he could witness what we have here today. He very much wanted this type of control to be available for musicians and lamented that the last great keyboard in his lifetime I think was the CS80.

This is a really cool expansion of what can be done with synths. After a few decades of attempts to reinvent synth controllers it turns out the most intuitive way to get a lot of expression is a regular piano keyboard with a few extra tricks. And I love the "only Anthony could pull this off" of having 4 2600s and a Moog modular being controlled by cutting edge tech.

The Osmose really is a game changer, got mine on release and I rarely touch other synths now! With my JD-XA, Synthstrom Deluge, and Osmose I think I have everything covered! Such a fantastic synth, the expression is best described as allowing keyboardists to express more akin to a guitarist. Takes a while to learn to play clean as it is very easy to pitch bend, but it also makes it sound more "authentic" as an instrument with its slightly off pitch control.
