While Disney Channel's story-driven era of Gravity Falls, Amphibia, and The Owl House is about to end, there are still some worthwhile shows looking forward to. Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur puts a fresh spin on a superhero story, Hailey's On It introduces an adventurous to-do list, and Kiff celebrates a wild town of oddballs.
Disney Channel's current lineup consists of The Owl House (with one episode left), Hamster & Gretel, Big City Greens, and The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. None of these shows are particularly known for their long-running continuity and story arcs, but they've still managed to gather passionate fans. With Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Hailey's On It, and Kiff, will Disney Channel's future be bright?

I don't think I'm ready to have less story-driven animated shows that are like The Owl House, Amphibia, and Steven Universe. But I am ready for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and I'm hoping The Ghost and Molly McGee will get more interesting as well.

I’m more then willing to not have anymore story Driven shows as long as trash like Steven Universe and Owl House never get made. Plus it’s better to have propaganda (RePrEsEnTaTiOn 🐔) that’s only a few seconds then a full on story line. Yet again without the story driven ones, it’s not really worth checking out the other cartoons since theirs no continuous narrative.

Unpopular opinion: I always enjoyed Disney Channel animated shows more than the live-action ones. The art styles were unique and the stories were fun. I’m so glad that they are willing to make different stuff like Moon Girl and Kiff. I hope they keep trying.

Moon girl reminds me of ROTTMNT a little bit with its bright colors, smooth animation while also keeping a comic book style. I’ll be sure to give it a watch once it comes out

I'd disagree about Hailey's On It though. The synopsis not only sounds bland, but it doesn't really make sense to me that much.
It’s cool to hear Disney is creating new shows with new ideas. With so many cancellations in the animation industry, it’s nice to see new stuff.

I’m excited for Moon Girl, Phineas & Ferb revival, The Ghost & Molly McGee season 2, The Owl House finale, Big City Greens season 4, and Big City Greens: The Movie.
I don't think that Disney Channel's god tier storytelling is over after Owl House, there will always be a successor! We just don't know what it will be yet!

I feel like Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will be the next story driven show. It will start out being episodic but gradually have a major arc towards the end. Considering the people making this also made Rise of the TMNT and Monkie Kid, it's definitely unlikely for it to be purely episodic.

Probably won't surpass Lumity tho.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur looks like a fun ride. I don't think Disney Channel will have a better era than 2012-2023, with Gravity Falls, Phineas and Ferb, Amphibia, The Owl House and all the other shows that came out in that era. But these shows seem like a fun time, and I'm excited!

I definitely agree because between the era in 2011-after February 2023 Disney channel was my childhood of shows from animated and live action shows and felt balanced of both shows but now to this day I’m not liking Disney Channel current shows minus some animated and live action shows

I'm with you pal. These story driven shows you pointed had so many ideas that you rarely see in a show. SVTFOE's difficult political system, and hard decision in there Amphibia's lessons in friendship, and being true to yourself And The Owl House's unique approach on the element of horror, comedy, and intense dramatic moments (even though a good amount of people noted disney's other references to the devil, that I'm not really convinced with) and finally the whole "Homosexuality" thing isn't an issue on the show, which I really love

Not really other than Chowder and Summer Camp Island there isn't another Cartoon Network show that is close to this it's more of a Gravity Falls, Star Vs and Big City Greens type especially because of the animation and the theme song
You're right but my thing is that when people do ask for original content....they rarely give it a chance
I for one really like the story-driven animations They should really continue doing them
disney I think takes the most risks when it comes to tv shows, keeping things fresh and can tell a good story at the same time
Kiff really gives me Nickelodeon vibes. I think this type of silly goofy show is really what the network needed.

Hey let's be grateful it isn't on Nickelodeon because then they would milk it entirely. Look at what happened to their last " successful cartoon" The Loud House. It became milked dry with Season 4 to now has two spinoffs , one horrible live action movie and one movie. Or it would have been shown for a bit then cancelled after one season ( like Welcome to the Wayne ).

@@juliancaraveo5700 Hey well yes it is being mlik but that doesn't mean everything is bad and the franchise went downhill well yes the live action series sucks but it's animated is still really great and the later seasons are good (seriously why do a lot of people think there bad I think there a Improvement over season 1 & 2) The Casagrandes was a pretty good spin off and The Loud House Movie well not amazing but still enjoyable seriously it nice the animated Loud House continues because it has more stories to tell however season 7 could be it's last season since it has 20 episodes instead of 26 last the last 6 seasons SERIOUSLY WHAT IS EVERYONE DEAL WITH THE SHOW NOWADAYS I understand the live action show witch is terrible but it's animated series is still fun and enjoyable beside The Loud House (animated) & Big Nate are the only shows now on Nickelodeon that are not garbage

I think the new cartoons look really promising and I’m especially excited to see Moon Girl and Devil dinosaur. But for some reason Hailey’s on It caught my eye as well and even though we’ve just gotten a short synopsis and a poster I believe that that show could be really great
I'm glad that shows like Ghost and Molly McGee and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur will be able to keep my attention on Disney Channel's animated shows after the final episode of The Owl House airs in April.
After seeing ads for Kiff after, I don’t know, every five KZread videos or so, I finally decided to check out on Disney+. I’m liking it so far, but what really sold me is that skiff’s friend Barry is voiced by Michael Croner, who I know as the voice of Brock from Unikitty!.

Well mostly no hope for Cartoon Network because whatever show that's not Teen Titans Go, will get cancelled by Warner Bros. Discovery even if it becomes a hit or before it gets greenlighted

I am really curious to see if The Owl House or Amphibia or even BOTH shows will have a spiritual successor. Ya know like Gravity Falls opened the path for these two sister shows, who says that they can't also open the gates for other shows in the future.

Just from the look of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur alone has me hyped in a way I haven been for a Marvel animated show since The Spectacular Spider-Man, MOON GIRL MAGIC BABY!
I still wish they didn't decide to kill The Chairman from The Ghost and Molly McGee until the series finale. It would've been nice to get an origin episode and hearing him talk instead of making sounds Plus, we don't know if TGAMM will still be story-driven without him

I think the chairman from season 1 is a fake and we might see the real chairman soon or killing the chairman was molly biggest mistake and he come back more powerful than ever and starts a ghost invasion around the world turning ghost into corrupt monsters

I don't want to sound negative about the future of Disney Channel cartoons but keeping shows with amazing storylines like Amphibia and the Owl House going helped keep the channel unique and now they want to fall into the same trap as CN and Nick focusing only on comedy shows and reboots, so things don't look good for the future of Disney Channel in my opinion.

Gonna have to respectfully disagree with that one. The problem with CN and Nickelodeon is that they had no variety. Nickelodeon's only shows are SpongeBob and Loud House. CN has more shows... technically, but most of their shows are very similar in tone- mellow, very slice of life, with similar, uninteresting (imo) artstyles. They're not bad, but not something I want to watch all day. Disney, on the other hand, initially had a nice variety of shows on their plate with Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, Pickle and Peanut (if you're one of the 5 people who liked it), and the sitcoms. There was something for pretty much everyone. But after Gravity Falls more and more of their lineup went down the story driven route, which not only gets repetitive, but can also be alienating if you didn't start the shows early with everyone else. We had Star vs., DuckTales 2017, Tangled the Series, then Owl House and Amphibia. Big City Greens was like, the only episodic show on the network in the late 2010s. I don't want story driven shows to go away completely... I mean, I personally really like all those cartoons I just mentioned. But I'm also happy to see a return to episodic shows too. Molly McGee is a great show with its own identity. Moon Girl looks like it'll be similarly promising.

The Proud Family reboot is a Disney+ exclusive. Recently starting at the beginning of January, Disney has started airing their exclusive SVOD series on cable television including but not limited to Monsters Inc. At Work, Big Shot and The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers

I’m actually more excited for Moon girl and Hailys on it, I believe that these shows have big promise for the Disney channel because they are actually what the network really needs besides Phineas and Ferb coming back with 2 new seasons which I know is helping improve the renaissance even more.
There’s another cartoon coming this year to Disney channel called Primos about a girl named Tater dealing with her 12 cousins in her house during the summer
I enjoy what we have now with Hamster and Gretel, Kiff and Hailey's On It, but I also have a very good feeling that in 5 years, it will be Gravity Falls's turn to get a revival. Disney Channel already revived The Proud Family and Phineas and Ferb with most of the same cast returning, and Gravity Falls was way ahead of its time compared with Star vs. the Forces of Evil and Amphibia. They both had a 3rd season with the main character returning to their home dimension, so I think Gravity Falls can do something similar if there was a 3rd season about Dipper and Mabel returning to Piedmont, and their great uncles Stan and Ford also coming to their home for the summer after all the fun adventures they spent around the world since the end of the earlier two seasons. I want to learn more about their parents and other kids in their neighborhood, and how different it will feel to them after the previous summer they spent in Gravity Falls. January 1, 2024, 3:52pm

I am excited for Big City Greens, The Ghost and Molly McGee, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and Kiff.
For the past few years I have enjoyed shows like Big city greens and Ghost and molly McGee, in fact I’ve seen people on TikTok and KZread with fanfare of how Molly McGee and Danny Phantom crossover with each other which was pretty cool.
Is really nice to see that in during times seeing cartoons getting canceled, Disney is still making original cartoons that people will love to watch.
This year is the 40th anniversary of the Disney Channel! Let's see what shows will be good

I’d like to see a continuation of “My Life As A Teenage Robot”. Not a reboot, just pick up where the show left off. We had a few loose threads.

Im honestly glad that moon girl and devil dinosaur is getting more popularity, moon girl and devil dinosaur have been kinda forgotten marvel characters and to see them return in the form of their own animated series makes me so happy

I have a younger sister who is still in her early todldler years and I just want to say that I would be really happy if my sister grows up with these new Disney channel shows and a lot of other shows! As someone who was restricted from Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon as a kid only being allowed to watch the same episodes of Mickey Mouse, I am thrilled! I think you should talk about A.I. art and it's impact on copyright. Especially the fact that a Netflix anime relied on A.I. art due to "labor shortage".
Why is there so many reboots now a days? I'm getting so tired of dumb reboots that don't live up to the original.

Unfortunately I don’t have disney channel at home anymore because my mother have to cancel it a few years ago because no one was watching it but lucky I can still watch Disney’s awesome cartoons on Disney plus thank to my cool brother in law I’m looking forward to watching the finale episode of The Owl House

Yeah, I too had to cut back on my cable due to financial reasons (I still have a decent setup though the only kid channel I have now is CN). But anymore, cable TV as a whole is going by the wayside, give it until 2030 and I bet most cable channels will have ceased by then.

Moon girl and devil dinosaur is animated by the same studio who animated Monkie kid, rise of the tmnt and glitch techs so I can already tell that it will just be really visually pleasing to watch 😅
The future of Amazon is looking pretty good too with the second season of invincible coming this year and with the success of Critical Role's Vox Machina and their upcoming Mighty 9 series.
To be honest I kinda enjoy Story driven shows especially in animation and I think that they'll only truly die out once animation dies out. Sure there's gonna be a lot less this decade but that's kinda good. The less of something the more unique in a way and while you can enjoy story driven animation like owl house, gravity falls, amphibia and even some anime you can enjoy some slice of life animation like Clarence or SpongeBob that are there for pure entertainment. I'm just happy they're trying to make many new stories and ideas. I'm only a bit disappointed that Disney decided to cancel a few things and shorten them like owl house. (Don't be surprised if we see a spin off or rumors of one in the future)
All I want is the spin off show for owl house for when they show more stories when they were in the human realm

@@GageGamingGG Doesn’t Disney ultimately own the rights to The Owl House though? I’m pretty sure that’s part of why Dana said the show won’t get extended. Albeit as I said, she did say maybe a spin-off or comic is possible. IDK, I’m just going off what I heard her say.

Disney is too sensitive and "kiD fRiEnDlY" 🤪 To make something like that. All they care about is LGBTQ+, family care, colorwashing, and romantic love. -_-
I didn't know at first that Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur animation is provided by Titmouse, Inc. and Flying Bark Productions animation. The companies who made 100% Wolf and legend of the moonstone (continuing), Marvel's What If, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Monkie Kid, Avatar: The last Airbender and so on. Can't wait for 200% Wolf to come out soon.

The upcoming Disney Channel original movie slate is not bad. There’s at least 2 DCOMs in 2023.
I know this is a bit of an unpopular opinion but I absolutely love episodic shows. Even though I do tend to prefer plot heavy shows (ex: owl house, Amphibia, tangled the series, ducktales 2017, etc.) they can sometimes be a bit overwhelming and episodic shows (ghost and Molly McGee, Bluey, Big City Greens, proud family louder and prouder, etc.) are a nice break in between those shows. I’m personally very excited for the new upcoming shows.

Im looking forward to, Haley’s on it, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and Kiff.
All of these shows seem like they have some amazing potential. Kiff gives off an Adventure Time/Amazing World of Gumball feel. But hopefully it will pave its own path and not be comparable to the golden cartoons/shows from the 2010s.

I haven't watched DC in YEARS. I hope Disney Animation opens up a subsidiary company for movies that can't be condensed and thus have to be made into miniseries on Disney+.
I watched and enjoyed Hailey's On It all year long, but I have been sleeping on Kiff. I was not interested in the premise at first, but I might like to watch it for the hilariously talented voices of Kimiko Glenn and H. Michael Croner. January 1, 2024, 4:01pm
Oh yeah, Phineas and Ferb is also getting more episodes. Disney is in a better place going forward.
