Bro. What is this, Vox? So much for real journalism.
Vox, are you really that hard up for money that you have to make an entire video that's an ad and put it in our feeds? And if you're going to put 'ad' in the description, why not the title as well?
At least, Gutenberg's printing press did not generate what it printed.

The thing is that technology with AI is impacting more creative jobs (which humans usually prefer doing) than jobs that demands more physically from humans. I think this completely changes what we as a society expected of technology.

Businesses do not focus on ai to make the life of consumers better. They do it for profits. Right IBM?

AI is a simulation of thought, writing is thought
@utsavmangla8552
24 күн бұрын
How do you differentiate between simulation and “real”?
@birdie_cathare
23 күн бұрын
@@utsavmangla8552 For a short answer one major difference i have in mind and obviously i don't pretend to have the truth, though I did do research on the topic (philosophy of technics). (and excuse my grammar i'm not used to talk in English about those topics) TL;DR a cooking robot will never invent a dish when writing, the human interacts with the technical object as anyone does while thinking/working, there's a sort of back and forth between the text and your mind. Anyone who creates a text experiences the fact that the "thought" seems to emerge while writing, from the interaction. in other words it's difficult to conceive a thought "full made in the head" which only needs to be written down (even a birthday card verifies this!) such interactions are definetly possible with computing machines but AI models don't need human interaction per se (the paper does and will never write itself). also the interaction produces unpredictability and statistical automation relies on predictability obviously. eventually a simulation will never be able to modify itself as in producing a result that changes its own rules (just as any human does when cooking, writing, building a house, etc) without human activity a simulation will eventually produce stereotyped, "middle" results (every AI model so far confirms that rule as far as i know) i hope i was clear, there's more to say obviously
ayy yo, this ad had some content in it
FTC's guidelines for sponsored content: "Include disclosures in three key areas: written in description, superimposed over video, and verbally in video. Written disclosures should be included within the first two lines (125 characters) of the video description above the 'show more' prompt." No verbal disclosure, and written disclosure is hidden in the "show more" area. Go ahead and get paid but follow the rules about it pls.
Well, at least it's not another BetterHelp ad...
Why is printing being compared to AI? They can't be more far apart
@wixostrix
21 күн бұрын
The comparison is on how emerging technologies can be used for good purposes they can and have always been used nefarious ones. Point is we shouldn’t let that fact prevent useful innovations. Would come off better if it came from a historian or something and not the VP of a corporation with a vested interest in us trusting the technology though 😅
"By offloading repetitive tasks, AI offers businesses a chance to empower their teams...", yeah sure we are fools!
People use analogy to explain what AI is like, part of the arguments are true. But I think the best analogy would be stock footage. Some creator would benefit from such tool. But not most of them.
As a Vox lover, this was a very interesting way to approach this story visually. Something Vox excels at, is visual story telling. And relying on graphics and animation in this one made it difficult/boring to follow. AI is admittedly not visual, but this video seemed to lack brainstorming and preproduction that goes into their other journalism. Edit: I just realized this is becuase it’s an IBM ad. And it shows.
Gotta love how ray kurzweil predicted how everyones reacting to ai before the year 2000 😂
No more ad content from VOX, please. It reduces your credibility. I am enjoying your content overall but it needs to be real journalism, not mixed with ads. Thanks for the other great content you put out!

IBM'S CEO LITERALLY SAID HE THINKS OF FIRING MOST OF THE WORKFORCE SINCE "AI CAN DO IT BETTER" FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IM UNSUBSCRIBING YOU AND ONLY LOOKING AT YOUR VERGE CONTENT BECAUSE OF THESE ALMOST UNDISCLAIMED ADS ON VOX
The Future of Ads Is Sneaky
This does really dent your credibility Vox - even with the disclaimer. No shame in producing this video for IBM and getting paid for it... But this belongs on the IBM website without your Logo where nobody can confuse it with journalism.
Saying the future of AI is open is like saying the future of operating systems is open because Linux exists; closed source models are better and the power in AI is heavily footed in lots of very expensive hardware that isn't accessible to users
My big gripe with this video and AI in general is that, while yes it sounds nice with cool buzzwords "offloading repetitive tasks" and "improving workflow", maybe less than 10% of people are going to see and use it that way. The rest of society does it differently.
First the Better Help sponsor, now a whole 5 minute ad that's barely disclosed as an ad? Yeah, all your credibility is gone. Sad.
While I understand that journalism needs support from advertisers to run its programs, this hurts credibility. The advert reeks of tone-deafness.
The future of AI is a massive amount of energy burned for no good reason.
That was tough to watch. My head hurts
So where's your AI model? IBM
@blackfoxstudioX
23 күн бұрын
Because they are B2B business, you wont see their models on consumer devices.
You usually post good stuff so I'll let this one slide. But don't sell your soul by making ads like this. Videos about relevant things that happen to be sponsored by the people making it is one thing, but videos that are nothing more than ads are incredibly contradicting to why people enjoy your videos. If you keep doing it people might just lose faith in you.
I'm a software engineer who specializes a machine learning and AI. This video is going to age very poorly. The only thing that AI can actually do really well is help people code better. If you need a single image created and don't want to pay somebody for it, AI can work for you. If you need something to be identified by a machine, AI should work pretty well. If you need to collect a bunch of research on a specific topic in a short amount of time, AI will help you. It's not going to change the world the way that smartphone did.
yeah thats not even just sponsored thats literally just an ad
