Not long before my best friend and hero, my dad passed away we went to see the Fureys in Glasgow. We sang this together with tears rolling down our faces. Some of the songs were played at my beautiful mums funeral. They met aged 10 and had 65 years together. A true inspiration to me xx

Yes, I am saddened to learn that Paul Furey has passed, RIP! -- They are noble; incredibly professional stage performers. -- Travellers indeed, with a well deserved huge following! Let us not forget to remember the loyalty of their fellow musician, Davy Arthur -- here's wishing all of them good health!

I first heard this record in the a pub in Peterborough back in the early 80s its as good now as it was then .gaz freeman

I saw these live in Boston a few years running when i first got to America. Great ambassador's to our motherland.

Loved this song since my childhood all four grandparents having travelled over to England from Ireland in the 1940s. All long dead but I sang the song to my son as I held him in my arms in the delivery room!

My parents had this song on a cassette simply entitled "Irish Songs". I've since only tracked down a couple of songs but would love to know the singular source of the playlist on that tape. It also had by the Fureys, "My Love is like a red, red rose", "I'll take you home again Kathleen" by Foster & Allen and versions of the old rugged cross, danny boy and a version of "Give the children back their chilhood" by Gloria Hunniford.

It is a nice song and video!!

@MysticReverie - Managed to get "The Lakelands" by Dean Friedman. Great tune. Have found a few of them on here and spotify but a few of the versions are hard to get hold of by the srtist on that album so I may be knocking on your door for help soon
