The Funsky Mantis S911 Monster Buggy RC Basher Is Surprisingly Good!

Ойын-сауық

Let's check out the Funsky Mantis RC Basher Monster Buggy! It's a brushless retro budget rc and competes with WLToys, Arrma Grom and HBX Hyper Go. Will it be better?

    It appears you're in Florida, are you going to the Arrma Event? Jaytee and a few other content creators will be there. Just curious, because hopefully, they announce a new product, and you do a great job with leaks and previews, probably the best on KZread in my opinion.

    I got this too and it's pretty good. I tried to add oil, it came back out, so I put oil shocks on it and it worked okay. Played with it on the track a lot and it held up okay. Broke the bearing carrier after many many laps. Not gonna lie. I love this thing lol.

    The 1984 Corvette called, it wants its wheels back. One day you will take one of these things apart and just sweep the pieces into the trash can. I have an old Hosim that is very close to that thing.

    I don't think I would sweep this one into the trash can. I've run several packs through it now on 3S and it's pretty good. No breakages handles well and is definitely fun for the money

    I personally have a grom and did NOT have the tabs fail. The internal gears completely failed. Either way for the price i think any plastic gear is unacceptable. I refuse to believe the metal diffs aren’t 50% profit margin. For a 25-35 margin over something like the redcat volcano 16 you really shouldn’t have these durability issues. My volcano has taken a beating and didn’t have an issue besides $6 rear metal driveshafts. Granted the volcano doesn’t have oil filled shocks like the groms

    Yeah I put some more time on mine now and I'm still happy with it. Even on 3S with those knobby tires it's easy to control on pavement and seems pretty durable. I do wish it had oil filled shocks but it's still pretty funny without them. For 90 bucks it's not bad

    4200 kv is high for 3s? Please don't tell my Gorgon that. I've been running a 4000kv Spektrum motor and 100a Spektrum esc in it since before Christmas. I didn't even realize the motor was only rated for 2s when i orders the combo. The ESC was rated 2-3s so i assumed the motor they paired it with would be. It was on sale on Amazon for less than $60 at the time so i wasn't too worried about it if i smoked it. I've ran dozens of 3s 5-6000 mah packs thru it without issue. I did add the fan also and it actually stays pretty cool. If it let's the smoke out next battery I'll have got my money's worth from it. I'm also running the biggest pinion gear that would physically fit.

  • @DoRC

    @DoRC

    Ай бұрын

    Well the motor itself is rated for 50,000 RPM and if you the math 3S is a little over that. Will it be a problem? Probably not but I don't like to recommend people do things that are outside of the specifications of the hardware.

    Surpass 2845 4200kv is 3S capable (it can take up to 12V no problem). But that motor seems to be the only good thing in that RC. Also "all metal drive" is not always a good thing. If those are "powder metal" gears in the diff, the thing will not last. And friction shocks with no fluid can be super fun (pinball bouncy) if done right, but those are not.

  • @DoRC

    @DoRC

    Ай бұрын

    Yeah it seems to be able to take it though 4,200 KV usually is a bit high for 3S. Doing the math at full 3S voltage you are going to be a little over the 50,000 RPM maximum voltage if you're not careful. What specifically don't you like about it other than the shocks of course? I'm not sure I can think of a situation when all metal drive isn't good unless the metal is a really poor quality and it seems to be decent.

    @@DoRC Surpass can survive 60,000 rpm. Well, at least through a single 1000mah pack. After that they never run the same, but still. Well, I fear "powder metal" gears more than plastic ones. I been there with Rlaarlo, so I enjoy and value my plastic Xray/Tamiya diff gears more.

  • @DoRC

    @DoRC

    Ай бұрын

    @n00b247 eh. As long as they're made properly sintered steel is definitely stronger than any plastic gear. Course they have to be made properly.
