Fun fact: I can’t remember if you mentioned this, but there is actually a real crashed B29 bomber at the bottom of the real lake mead. Thump-Thump is an actual grenade launcher nicknamed ‘Thumper’ because of the sound it makes when it fires

The B29 is part of a quest, and you find Thump Thump when clearing out the ants in the generator room. To be honest, Thump Thump is sub-par compared to the Mercenary's Grenade Rifle. Thump Thump has a slightly lower DPS and can't have the long barrel mod attached. With MGR, you can effectively become a sniper with a grenade launcher.

To be fair, if you play on Hardcore mode, a single Doctor's Bag isn't going to do much for 'several' crippled limbs. It's mostly good on a single one.

They ended up feeling underdeveloped. I think Sawyer had a much bigger vision for the Boomers but got rushed by deadlines.

hopefully when Bethesda give them to ok to do another game they give them 3 or so years instead of the 18 or so months they got for NV. I hope Bethesda doesn't do something stupid. Before they had no idea how long it would take them to do the new elder scrolls, and then fallout 4 so hopefully they've learned and want to build a good relationship with obsidian.

Eh, Bethesda never will it seems. Because of them, they forced the title "Prey" on a completely different game than the original Prey even when Arkane Studios clearly made a fantastic System Shock 3.0 game and would've probably went with any game. But no, because of politicking, Bethesda made sure there was controversy where there needn't be and made sure it was the fault of one good game that another game is now permanently ruined in it's name brand and potential for future works. Fuck Bethesda. I hope we just get Sawyer working with inExile on a few quests to create the new Wasteland 3 because Bethesda is borderline as shady as EA at this point. They wouldn't want Obsidian to "outshine" their former product with their own engine already made for Obsidian to use and write a better story with.

The B-29-100-BW Superfortess, which was later converted into an F-13 recon aircraft (F standing for photo), does exist at Lake Mead. The final flight of #45-21847 completed an altitude run of 30,000 feet. They descended the aircraft to 300 feet above Lake Mead. Because the sun was reflected off of the surface of the lake, the pilot had a hard time seeing the surface of the lake, and the plane slowly descended to 100 feet until it hit the lake at 250 mph. The plane then bounced back up to 250 feet, and then skidded across the water. The crew bailed from the aircraft using life rafts, and watched as the plane sunk to the bottom of the lake.

In my play through, I have passed the Boomer barrage but the next time I crossed the field, they still fire their artillery. But they fired at the other way. I went to see who they were firing. Turns out they were firing at the Mini Boomers who were walking towards the airfield. The kids walked calmly under the barrage of the artillery.

Pearl: "Well it's ABOUT TIME someone came to visit us!" ...I mean, with such a welcoming display of fireworks, it's a mystery how Nellis isn't the Mojave's premier tourist attraction.

You missed the incredibly detailed and beautiful cavern in Lake Mead. I have no idea what purpose it serves or why it was created but it's a real find. It's pretty big for an Easter egg. Maybe it was going to be used as part of a cut quest or maybe a Dev made it just because they could. It is well worth a visit though.

If you are wondering, the bomber is a B29, the same kind that bombed japan extensively in ww2. Thats why they think the bomber is “the 29th of its kind” because of its designation.

I almost tried i repaired ed-e with scrap metal from the mojave express...

I didn't even think of getting the guy's advice to get through the artillery field , i just packed a bunch of agility related chems then ran through the field and barely survived with all limbs crippled

Oxhorn, you mentioned you can ask the Boomers to ally with the NCR. If you do a Legion playthrough, you can get the Boomers to side with the Legion also. If I remember rightly, I think you can also ask them to help House too (via NCR).

One issue of the bomber plane part is wouldn’t after 300 plus years it have rusted away.

In my first playthrough of New Vegas, I ended up having to slaughter every Legionary in the Fort to get the Legion Slave Ledger, because I hadn't stopped killing every Legionary I saw and as a result, I shot Karl on sight in Red Rock Canyon. I like to think my Courier took Melody to Nellis to be raised by the Boomers before heading back to Red Rock Canyon.

that was probably on purpose, the kid probably said automatic and they kept it, considering it cute, which it is since its coming from what seems like a 9-10 year old boy.

For anyone interested the bomber that was being talked about in the story was a real bomber, it was a b-29 superfortress convereted into a reconnaissance aircraft doing atmosphere research and would suffered engine failure, stalled and crashed into lake mead, there are real photos and evidence of the crash. All the 5 crewmen survived with 1 injured.

I know this is 4 years old, and I know he dosent do this anymore, but this is my current favorite youtuber to fall asleep too lmao.

@@Beer101 How many people has your player character killed up to the point where you meet the Boomers? Or perhaps you made a Mother Theresa run? Don't be hypocritical. They're not slave-takers, they just kill you if you ignore the signs that say "stay out" around their property. They've been there for decades minding their own business. They're like the BoS except defensive-only. Why break their nuts?

I never did the tunnel entrance. I always just hugged the rock wall to the left and ran straight through. Probably only died once or twice finding the boomers.

that bomber is real it's sunk at the same place in game it crashed landed in lake Mead but the crew survived the crash and its still there and it's nicknamed lady of the lake and oxhorn I love the videos keep it up and cheers to a awasome future!

the Thump-thump is basically Thumper M79, a real grenade launcher from the late 50s-60s.

Those cow udder mutations are just hilarious.

If you take the railroad tracks to the base they shoot at you for a bit. But if you put your gun away and use your companions as bait, then you can get to the base. They stop shooting a quarter through the tracks. I know this is old but you can get the caps from the guy and not even need the info.

The trick is to avoid the houses and hug the wall on the left side, you will take minimal damage if you’re fast enough and you can make it there very quick.
