Every Akan speaks Twi. The one spoken in Central region is Fante Twi and the one spoken in Asante region is Asante Twi. Period.

@@Stevengomez-j6q beloved brother that's the beauty of language. Language develops. Look at Dormaa people today, now they have Bono ascent but they didn't have it before. Language develops due to migration!

@@Stevengomez-j6q we have to remember that Fante people was once a time came into contact with the Europeans, so if Z sound is heard it is not surprising. It is like nowadays you hear some Akans using L sound in their speech but we don't have L in our language but rolling R because of western education. It is time we begin to intellectualise, the three main Twi of Akan, namely: Fante Twi, Asante Twi and Akuapim Twi.

@@yawampadu4449 no, although Fantes mingled with the Europeans that has nothing to do with their 'Z' usage. When an Akan is speaking pure Fante they use 'Z' . L is in the Akan alphabet YOG

that's a lie , Asante was formed in 1665-1700....and it means asa ate meaning because of war ...the federation was formed to defeat the denkyiras .

@@augustineonomah1784 I assume you want to know about the Fante origin. 1. Is the part that seperated 'Fa Ate' (meaning 'part has separated/fallen off) 2. The second origin is that when they separated from Techiman coming down to the south/coast, they liked to eat some particular plant named 'Fa' so they were named 'Fa Etsir' meaning 'the Etsir people who like Fa'. The Etsir were Guans in the coast that the Fantes came to meet. So the liking the plant Fa too much, they were named 'Fa Etsir fo' (Fantefo) to distinguish them from the real Etsir people. I believe the 2nd one because Fantse has 'tse' sounds more because of the Etsir people they intermingled with. Prior to that they spoke Bono just like all the Akan groups before migration.

Who told you the Ashantes never existed during those period? the tribes that form the modern day Ashantse had always been around. They were slaves to the denkyeras back then. The only came together to fight for their freedom and there after formed a unified kingdom today which is today known as the Ashantse Kingdom.

HAHAHAH... the ashantses got liberated from their slave masters just in the 1600's. The ashantse tribes where slaves to the Denkyeras, got freedom in the 1600s and formed the Ashante kingdom. there was no ashatse in the 1200s till the 1600 - 1700.
