One of the most powerful films ever. So glad the two leads are still alive, if only they could reunite..."When we're you gonna tell me, when we were 90?" ...which won't be for another 7 years still :)

Personally, I am impressed with the movie, "The Front," and it tells a wonderfully powerful story that resonates with a theme about a very terrible period in American history. Impressive script by Walter Bernstein and performances by Woody Allen and others, particularly the actors that were blacklisted and including the film's director as well. Bravo!

@menckencynic - You know what, sir, GO SCREW YOURSELF for being a typical right-wing nutjob! My views are NONE OF YOUR GODDAMN BUSINESS anyway! At least, I AM stunned at how pathetic and ignorant of your assumption about whoever you think is a leftist! It's what I would call pure McCarthyism!

Wow, this film suffers from the TV MASH syndrome. In the early 1950's, all men wore pomade in their hair. It was greased back, not blow dried. If you're doing a period piece film you have to deal with the suspension of disbelief. Disbelief. You have to do more than the soundtrack music. Even the costumes didn't look period.

Sure seems familiar. (looking skyward) Let me think. What does this remind me of? (looking downwards, left and up to the left again). Jeez, it all seems to familiar, only with more racial elements....it's come to me....

A list that said our funniest comedians weren't allowed to make us laugh...forget the 50's, this is happening right now, except they call it wokeness or affirmative action. The goal of cancel culture is to cancel culture.

It wasn't just about making people laugh but about pushing Communism. That is nothing to laugh about. Lenin and his red groups murdered the Czar and his whole family in Russia. To know the truth, read Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn , who was a Russian novelist, philosopher, historian, short story writer and political prisoner. Solzhenitsyn was an outspoken critic of the Soviet Union and Communism and helped to raise global awareness of its Gulag labor camp system. Thank God also for Joe McCarthy and may he rest in peace.

Joe McCarthy accused the United States Army of harboring Communists, you fucking idiot. That led to his downfall. He was an paranoid demagogue, not a hero.
