Hello Fellow Bass Lovers, I feel the need to clarify myself. I consider Real Bass Lessons KZread as my classroom. I have been a teacher for 50 years, 30 at Berklee. That being said, I do delete posts from time to time. This is not a public forum for debate, argument, or “Your” teaching. I love discussion with other players and fans, but when the words begin to stray from what is actually presented in my video I may choose to delete the conversation. I am presenting my teachings, and opinions. Actually a person recently got mad at me for not debating him about “his Opinion.” There are plenty of bass groups online where you can show off "your" gear and pontificate endlessly. If you want to be the teacher, start your own group. Hope you understand. Jim

Found your wonderful world of bass tutorials just within the last few months. I may be an old dog, but there is always something new. That looks and sounds so fine to my ears. Thank you so very much for what you do.

Oddly enough, I bought mine back in early 2002 and it's identical to yours. I just wish the extra long scale strings for it were cheaper but at least they last forever, and you're correct, it does an excellent job of capturing the tone and sound of an electric upright.

Beautiful 5 string restless bass. More of a midrange/ treble sound which would make a great accompaniment with a stand-up player.

They sure do! And they started much earlier than Rob Allen. I still have my Godin Acoustibass fretless from 1994 - tracked one down after reading a review in Bass Player magazine. It's a delightful instrument!

Which one of your books do you recommend for a beginner learning walking bass, this is a form of bass I’ve always been interested in.
My mb2 has a walnut neck and top. There’s no fretless I’m aware of that sounds better than an Allen.

Great playing and gorgeous instrument. Jim, in this video you briefly mentioned using Simandl fingering in the lower part of the fingerboard and 1234 higher up. Is it because it is a fretless, or because it is 35"?
