The Germans developed the Schlieffen plan to defeat France, but how did the French prepare for a war with Germany? The Schlieffen plan gets most of the attention when discussing the beginning of World War One, but the French plan of action, Plan XVII, is just as interesting and significant.

    Germany in WW1: Only gets a few inches of France in 4 years, and loses the war Germany in WW2: Absolutely powers through France and takes it all over in 6 weeks.

    Your maps are off. They show the Franco-Germanic border AFTER WWI changed things. As it stands, you keep showing Alsace and Lorraine as being under French dominion. This confuses the young.

    @@user-de7mb9rn9w Because I went to the trouble of learning to speak the language properly and mispronunciation sets my teeth on edge! Besides it's disrespectful to the French.
