The Franchise Ep. 15: Super Bowl LVIII | 49ers, Playoffs, Champions | Kansas City Chiefs

Спорт

In this Super Bowl LVIII special edition of The Franchise: Presented by GEHA, the 2023 Kansas City Chiefs’ season concludes with a clash against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. On the heels of one of the most challenging playoff runs in franchise history, Patrick Mahomes and Clark Hunt reflect on how difficult it is to make it back to the Super Bowl. After defeating Baltimore, the Chiefs lock in on Super Bowl preparation and prepare to drown out the distractions that come with Super Bowl Week. Rashee Rice experiences his first Super Bowl Opening Night as Andy Reid’s Chiefs field thousands of questions from the press. After managing the chaos of the week, the Chiefs move on to practice. Long time Equipment Director Allen Wright reflects on his own journey with Kansas City. Then, Travis Kelce and the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. In vintage fashion, Patrick Mahomes leads a 10-point comeback to knock off the 49ers in overtime and the Chiefs bring home their fourth Lombardi Trophy.

    This Super Bowl I will always remember as my old man, a crazed Chiefs fan since the beginning, died a few hours after the game the following Monday morning. But being able to be there with him during his last day on earth; visiting with him, having one of his favorite meals for what would be his last meal, and then watching our Chiefs win their third Super Bowl in five years to officially become a dynasty with him...I couldn't have scripted a better last day for him. I will always think back fondly on this game and those last awesome moments with him.

But he said, "It's also what you have do as professional athlete." It also struck me that how part of why Kyle Shanahan decided to take the ball 1st was b/c of how gassed their defense players were, whereas Andy had to pull Chris to go past his limits!!!

  • @sheilap2443

    He's calling Mecole. That's why he starts off with 'Cole'. Then they call 12 about 3 times until Andy yells yells again - 12!! Then Mecole wakes up and jumps and runs out. Like he said, he didn't know if he was Tom or Jerry. Clearly, 12 was Mecole. It's right there on tape.

  • @everettpopelv

    @everettpopelv

    2 ай бұрын

    I know they are calling the personnel grouping. There’s no reason for the whole team to be calling Mecole. Now Mecole is obviously apart of The 12 package. So in a way they are also calling him. But from the jump them calling out 12 is personnel groupings. Because certain players are in on different personnel groupings. It’s easier to call the personnel groupings to know who’s in on the play. Once the players who are in that grouping are on the field then they call the play. They aren’t calling for Mecole directly at first because the only ppl that know the play being called are Pat, Andy, and Nagy.

    This is fascinating, watching the game is one thing but this humanizes it so much. Also witnessing experts performing at high levels of stress while keeping their leadership methods calm, direct, and focused is impressive. If every business’s managers performed like these coaches man… world would be a different place. This probably comes off as a silly, overblown observation, but thought I would share. As someone who always sidelined football, I have a new perspective for these players and coaches, respect.
