Yeah, place 3 unique swords, one bow and 2 armors and bam, way more interesting and rewarding to explore. Fuck it, even an recolor of an existing armor or weapon with an unique name and/or enchantment would make it an hundret times more interesting.

RNG is the bane of content. and sadly every damn game released in the past 5+ years is moving towards more and more RNG...why you may ask? because it allows for the laziest of coding, and the most uninspired stories, which for developers translates into the ability to push more crappy content out in a shorter timeframe. "sure the games not great, but it only cost 1/4 of the price of previous titles, and it shipped in 1/8 the timeframe."

When I first played Dawnguard, my eyes just fucking lit up when I emerged from the cave, and saw this whole other world.

Forgotten Vale was my favorite location in the entire game. That moment where you step out of the dark cave and into the daylight was the best moment I had while playing Skyrim

I really hope we get to see a resurgence of the snow elves in a later game since that one npc says their might be more hidden somewhere

Forgotten Vale is my favorite place in The Elder Scrolls series. I love to stay there all the time and just spend time exploring, walking, going to differend places in there. I don't know why I like it, I feel like I am home.

I would guess that the skeleton with the great sword in his back was betrayed by the one beside him. Possibly they both came looking for the treasure, one got greedy, stabbed him in the back but didn’t realize the dragons under the ice. Thus the surprised look on his face

8:11 My guess is sword-in-back was run down by potion-hands. Potion-hands was then attacked by the dragons, and was killed before he could drink one of the potions.

Sounds like when the king was slain, some of his remaining soldiers tried to grab what they can and escape quickly, some of them either got too greedy and died of exposure, wounds or exhaustion

for that mass graveyard beneath the lake's waters, wouldn't the most likely explanation be that its the two dragon's leftover dinner? sure dragon's don't actually need to eat, but you get the idea.

A mod that plays in the time of the snowelves would be soo amazing !!! Maybe after the Dwemer betrayed most of them and you have to fight their machines, wild creatures and in the and of the story a kind of falmer invasion. With all theses ruins built up and shrines and elves everywhere, man I would love that !

Y'know, on finding all those skeletons with fire resist potions, I've got a couple other thoughts which might explain it. Now both do assume that said skeleons were once Falmer, ancient Snow Elves. 1. Ancient Falmer were weak to fire. It's not unheard of for races, especially elven races to have a weakness to magic, most of all High Elves, so it's not impossible for that to be the case here. 2. The Nords, assuming that said skeletons were being attacked by Nords, were using Thu'um, the Voice. More specifically the Fire Breath shout. Being the most common shout that Dragons use, I can see this being the most commonly known amongst the Nords back then as well. Ergo, the ancient Falmer in their panic whilst being attacked tried to use Fire Resist potions to prevent their death, and were either blasted or cut down before they could. Both could also be true as well. It's very well possible that the Nords knew Falmer were weak to fire, and so went in with the specific goal of primarily using fire in various ways to take them down all the easier, be it through Shouting, fire magic, or more conventional means like fire arrows.

To extend on things a bit more, it also makes sense that if Falmer/Snow Elves back then were weak to fire, a Falmer vampire would be INCREDIBLY weary of the sun as the two weaknesses to fire would stack together, plus that, coupled with the sun being a weakness as well, would be a very very bad thing indeed for such a being. So wanting to end the 'Tyranny of the Sun' would on the flip side be a goal one like that would seek above all others for very good (well, evil) reasons.

Honestly I'm not sure. Both events happened in the late Merethic Era, and no specific years or time frames are given beyond that. So either could've happened first. It's possible that the Snow Elves were attacked first, and by extension it's also possible that Dragons were involved. Frankly the Skyrim lore is kinda all over the place. On one end we've got the Falmer stuff, on the other apparently they also worshipped Dragons after they came from Atmora as well. But if dragons were involved it still fits my above point that the Snow Elves specifically made fire resistance potions for themselves as there was a lot of fire used in one form or another.

I played Skyrim so much but there are still places to see and lore to learn. I still keep playing Fallout NV to this day and i need to try and explore fallout 4.

Perhaps the Falmer and/or snow elves practiced sky burial? Some cultures do deliberately leave bodies out for the birds, and Auriel is associated with birds, so it would make sense. Maybe the berry bush in that one skeleton was from a bird pooping out the seed, lol.

Maybe that mass underwater grave is part of the Dragons' lair.

One of the most beautiful places in Tamriel! I need to go back there soon! As you pointed out at the start, a lot of people rush through. When going for the first time myself, I had no idea such a vast area was ahead of me. Had I known, I would've done a huge loot dump back home and prepared for a more lengthy adventure so I could take more time exploring everything in the Vale. Might have to go back there asap!

I wish for there to be a group of at least a dozen of Snow Elves and quests connected to them in the next installment of the Elder Scrolls. I just love their armor and structure designs and something about them just looks so magical to me, more than the other Mer races.

I was in there last week now watching this I gotta go back in hahah. Gotta find the books and paragons, I rushed through on Xbox sorry (no mods), I always get lost to, first time PS4 I was in there for hours lol :) thank you Camel

I love playing Frostfall in Forgotten Vale, it's terribly difficult with little caves and virtually no campfire scattering around. I found my self literally run around for my life

@@afinoxi Since the Forgotten Vale is kinda wedged between Skyrim and High Rock, I doubt it will be in the game then.

I think that spider and hanging corpse could be a lord of the rings Easter egg.

Perhaps the locations the Paragons teleport you to used to be important rooms or halls. Perhaps they were just used as shortcuts, the forgotten vale is huge after all.

The skeletons who died on the chests were most likely killed trying to escape the attack on the chantry by the Falmer. The more interesting piece I haven't figured out is how the Frost Giants came into possession on the paragons considering how valuable they must have been.

Hey guys, did anyone catch the water fall that drops you right back into the Darkfall area? Travel further south past the second ice wraith to the end of the lake. There's a tiny waterfall that sweeps you into a deadfall back into Darkfall grotto, then Darkfall passage. Super fun, like a rollercoaster Skyrim style 😬 great job as usual Camel, you're the best!! I'm fairly certain that most of the skeletons were slaughtered by those two dragons. Because if dragons are eternal, and they live the *FORGOTTEN* Vale, if they did kill all of the snow elves living in the forgotten vale it is likely that they were not resurrected by alduin but rather have lived there ever since the snow elves. And the blades would not have hunted them down because of course the vale that they live in is clearly forgotten, hence the name: forgotten vale. This is also apparent in the fact that you will find pillars submerged under the ice hinting that something must have had to destroy those pillars and fling them into the water.

11:11 For those who wonder, the Dovahzul inscription says "GaaN", which means "Stamina" (in fact it's the first word of the Drain Vitality shout, as he later says).

12:05. Maybe there is a more or less sane reason why all those skeletons are out there. Every culture and sometimes even some detached little communities have their own traditions of burying their kind. Throwing the body into the water with the most precious possessions of the deceased elf (hence the satchels) might've just been the way snow elves in the Forgotten Vale buried all their dead. Looking at the surroundings, the place is pretty brutal and there were obviously quite some deaths not only from the old age there. Besides, there is so much water in that place, which is no use for elves, especially considering how cold it is, so it wasn't really occupied by anyone or anything, ever. Digging and burying is a very long process, especially with the amount of elves that most likely died all the time, and with how the whole place is basically covered with ice, meaning that the ground was probably almost stone hard. Adding to all that, most of the water is covered with ice, so it's not like you're walking around outside and see lots of bodies lying around in clear water. They're technically buried underneath something too. And, it's actually sort of poetic, just not very common for us. 14:48. Now this. Here, it might be a graveyard. Falmer still went a long way from snow elves, and the culture changed too, so they might've started burying the bodies this way. Or, this might be a sacrificing ritual or something. Maybe those things are not grave stones, but some sort of ritual stones that are supposed to talk to gods or nature or whatever. And, at 18:52 there seem to be the same "ritual stones" around the troll's scull as well, so I can totally see them being a part of the falmer religion or something of that kind. Doesn't mean they can't mark grave stones as well, though, since death and after-life is a huge part of many religions. We might never know. 16:10. It might've been a punishment, or that person - whoever they are, might've done that themselves. People, who commit suicide do things like that quite frequently. They mark the place, or take a picture of it and post it online, or just write a goodbye letter. Those are more or less mundane, modern things people do, so what we see in the Forgotten Vale might just be the same psychological reaction, just expressed in a different way, with the only tools and resources this poor person could have had there at that moment. 17:16 and 21:16. Here, I'm not sure about one detail, so this whole idea of mine might fall down the drain, but I'll still say it. First, the detail I'm not sure of - how did snow elves transition into falmer? They all collectively became blind, but I suppose that they became this half-sane, half-animal creatures after years, when generations changed, right? If that's true, maybe mining was performed by the 'middle ground' generations. So, sort of the half-falmer, half-snow elf generation that was already pretty basic, like falmer, but still had quite some features and habits of snow elves. The falmer could then just lose the ability or need to mine with time, as the generations changed and they became more and more animal-like, but there was a certain point, when the falmer were just snow elf enough to still mine, but already use the more simplistic weapons and all that. From 24:16 and all the way through to somewhere around 30:00. As for the paragons, obtaining some of which doesn't feel very rewarding, I'm sure that from the story's perspective, there was something very important there and it just got ruined by time or some sort of natural disaster, maybe something else. But, from the game's perspective, I've always found it a bit lazy. Maybe they tried to make it "level-ish", as in: the harder it is to find the frost giant and fight him off, the cooler the prize is. But, I'm not sure how accurate or circumstantial this is, so who knows. Going through all that trouble and not really finding much did feel very shitty, though. Wish there was something more important there. Anyways, those were just some things that came up in my weird brain, while I was watching. As always, fantastic video. I'm sure a lot of work and time was put into this, so I appreciate it immensely. Jokes and puns are on point, as always, so bonus points for that. Looking forward to see more amazing stuff like that in the future!

The falmer didn't invade the forgotten Vale and kill the remaining snow elves until far along in their devolution. The falmer were already the twisted creatures when they attacked

My guess about the underwater mass grave is that a whole group of people were on the ice for whatever reason, then the ice broke and they got trapped underwater and drowned. Many people unfortunately lose their lives like that.

This has to be my favorite place in all of Skyrim next to Blackreach. There is so much beauty here i sometimes just walk and look around taking in a peaceful sites.

Would love one about the dark fall cave, it is very very misterious.

I like how the music sounds when he mentions Sharpslope Cave having the same kind of stones you see in Blackreach because it just sounds more ambient at the right moment.

The Forgotten Vale is my favorite place in the game. I like the remote areas, and in mods I like having the house in its own world space or be high in the mountains around the borders. But the vale takes it to another level. It's a beautiful glacial valley hidden by unscalable Druadic (can't spell it) peaks. From the Inner Sanctum forged in frozen peaks to the alien forests, the snowy forest accessed from the Paragon Portal, the frozen lake where dragons lurk, the Falmer caves, the huge Glacial Crevice, even the crag where spiders nest, it is a beautiful, alien place that I loved when I first saw it. Somebody, please make a mod where you rebuild the Inner Sanctum and put it on Xbox, I bet it would take a lot of scripting, but people have remade the entire game.

I recently came back to replay Skyrim and ended up at this series. I love it. I'm a wanderer. There's so much in the details of the world in this game before even considering quests. I wish I had some term for it to find more of this sort of content.

I think that all these skeletons (especially the two ones, one with an elven sword In his back) are the final testimony of the invasion by the falmers to annihilate the last survivors of the original falmers (snow elves), who still lived In the Auri-El temple and their last efforts of resistance to save their treasures, their culture, and maybe, their princes and princesses. 😢😢😢

Part of me hopes we get the choice to play as Snow Elfs in TES6 or at least get to learn more about them and see many more alive. They're so cool and my favorite elves of TES world.

I have always wondered where the damn shellbugs were in Skyrim! I don't know how many times I have been to the Vale, and spent hours just exploring it, yet I never noticed either of the bugs.

Camelworks seriously that place is BEUTIFULL

You forgot the Underwater Battlefield. A bunch of Flamer warriors are found drowned floating underwater. Its a secret passageway. You have to continue through the river near the flamer boat. Once you are there. Dont climb the stairs yet you can just continue swiming and you will find the entrance. You can also find a map bug where you can go and its really cool.

The lore is so amazing the forgotten vale is truly a beautiful place
