OpenGOAL Jak II is already available (though officially still in beta), and has custom level support.

Jeez the platforming sections are exquisite. I’ve seen crystal caves before, but the next few levels are wow 😯

On my first walkthrough I struggled a lot. Many sections are unclear and just slightly broken and too difficult. But after you do it once it becomes easier.

@@LuminarLight I can see the lack of clarity, though I’m impressed to see the sections where you swing onto a moving precursor platform and where they put a trampoline on a precursor platform tbh

as a die-hard Jak and Daxter fan this might be the coolest thing I've ever seen from the fan/modding community for a game. I hope this wakes someone up at Naughty Dog about fan interest in this series

@@azinfandellvr just download OpenGOAL and use a copy of the original Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier to run it, then download Unofficial OpenGOAL Mod Launcher and run it and install The Forgotten Lands mod, teleport to ??? World and enter.

I finally had a chance to play this mod myself, I gotta say I was blown away. You can tell the people who made this always wanted to run around Precursor Basin on foot lol. Seriously though the level design, the music, the dialogue, the new powerups, the increase in difficulty, all absolutely knocked it out of the park. Even the way the levels are accessed by selecting ??? at the warp gate, chef's kiss. It's surreal having new Jak content after all this time!

I was so excited to play Spider Cave in the first game cause back in my childhood I never knew that level was in the game until years after completing it. These new fan levels are giving me that same excitement of playing a new level. Thanks guys.

Just completed the 3 areas. Some of these powercells are quite the challange 😂 Took me like 2-3 hours completing it. Music gets a bit repetitive, but so it does in the original game when you got stuck on something. Some nice platforming ideas and mechanics that wasnt seen in the original game. Great to see new forms of eco! I really was hoping to see some cutscene at the end when i got all the powercells cause of how much effort it was 😁

So sick I love to see it. Jak and Daxter has an awesome community. Can’t wait to see what else the modding community can do in the future for the trilogy. Can’t wait for Jak3 on opengoal too.

Not the biggest fan of the AI voices, I would have been happy with subtitles but the levels are very well designed 👌

As far as I know nobody has a way to add nav mesh to custom levels (yet). Which is still true here. Neither the worm, nor the flying mine lurker thingie need a nav mesh.

In short, a mesh that entities can move on.

They should add the lost level to Open Goal. Maybe contact one of the more friendly developers and ask him how it would’ve gone down so we can replicate it. It has potential to make hub 3 feel more complete, even as a kid I always felt hub 3’s diamond excavation was a hidden level.

It wouldn't make sense to add any mods directly into OpenGOAL. That is not the goal of the project.

You’re talking about incorporating modded expansions into the base vanilla game. Doesn’t make sense. Also, the level missing from the gem excavation was a (presumably) removed level called “Yosemite”. Now, would it be possible for a modder to rebuild yosemite into a full functioning level? Possibly. How difficult and feasible would it be? Not sure. All I can say is that Kuitar’s work is incredible and I’m looking forward to the next iteration of the mod.

This is what the original jak and Dexter sequel should have been, not that GTA rip off we got, this is such a wholesome scene watching this childhood classic of mine with new levels and new ideas and platform it just warms my heart

They’re definitely missing the grass detail models around the top of the grass platforms on top of rocks. A video of Sandover Village would show you this. Levels are outstanding quality but missing a little of the visual polish. Hoping it comes over time :)

You could just add thin grasses and bushes, with no collision. Should be close enough.

@@LuminarLight Yeah I could also match complexe transparent shapes with the geometry. But that'd add quite a lot of polygons and work compared to just having the grass bits being one transparent texture on a flat plane/ So I think I'll wait until the feature is added. I don't think it'll take much longer.

You can add a lot of very complex geometry, as long as it has no collision it won't contribute much to limits. Because the models don't actually end up in the level file. But maybe it is indeed better to wait. There is no rush/deadline or anything.

Finally, the lift is fin-OH COME ON

Not a fan of the AI voices, but this is amazing! I hope someone at naughty dog sees this!
