I live in a former industrial town in the north west of England. Same as the others really. Declining highstreets, drugs, crime, and cenotaphs serving as memoriams to the wreckage of war and the communities it destroyed. A few miles to the north is a place called Pendle. In my opinion, this marks a strange boundary line between modern England and a place once known as the 'Middleland'. This kingdom stretched from north Lancashire right to the Scottish borders. Pendle; itself infamous for witchcraft, gives way to wider lands of sweeping moors and old forests. This a place of grouse shooting & salmon fishing, of old pubs, log fires and quiet people. Travelling further, one spies tiny hamlets accessible only through narrow lanes marked by faded signs. Unlike the Lake District, this area is seldom mentioned in tourist guides. It has an interesting history. Never fully controlled by the Romans, it was a land under constant threat. During the Dark Ages, noble warlords, Celts and Vikings all vied for control, bringing fire and sword for centuries. After the Reformation, it became a bastion of hidden Catholicism. Many of the stately homes had 'priest holes' to hide their clergy from the power of the Protestant south. These are old communities. Difficult to find without knowing what you're looking for. There's a sadness to it, but in many ways Bowland and the Dales represent the lost heart of old England.

what is it about autumn? Something happens...the world changes. It's a time for closing off, the ending of cycles. Somehow there is a feeling of spirits being freed, a quiet whisper in the wind, a sort of magical but also sightly foreboding feeling.

The sound of the cuckoo bird is mesmerizing... Reminds me of relaxing autumn nights at my village in the mountains of Greece.

When I re-read The Lord of the Rings it is always in the Fall of the year, to me the book just hits perfectly with the season, and now, this ambience just flows with that, outstanding job!

Over the Garden Wall is a FANTASTIC fall/halloween movie. A friend of mine introduced me to it at a movie night at his house. He set up a projector outside and we all wrapped ourselves up in blankets and drank cider and hot chocolate while watching. It was amazing.

it was 117 degrees F here in Texas. bro i fucken hated going outside and i love the summer. im literally 2 different colors now because of how bad i tanned from just walking outside to go to school and work 😂

It seems long music tracks are not immune from KZread's new ad model. 12 minutes in and already 3 ads. I wonder if it also affects the insomnia background tracks? Laying there trying to fall asleep to a soothing thunderstorm, finally going under...And a commercial snaps you awake, and another, and another. Every 5 minutes or so. Such a shame. And I do have unblock origin, but I'm on my tablet.

My heart loves this for some reason. The music and the bird sounds speak to my soul. I feel like it’s waking something up in me - it makes me feel calm, warm, and alive, but also evokes feelings of a chilly autumn walk and cold fingertips. Listening to this feels like sipping a warm drink when I’m sleepy.

Just up the road a-ways. Not far. Three hours walk. There’s an old road covered in the wispy drifts of leaves that for generations have muddled the path. But under the leaves, old stone and twisted bramble there’s a road. An inlet that leads on through the wood east of town. And that inlet comes to a junction. You won’t see the junction plainly. The years of rains and snows and passersby and highwaymen have long since hidden and trampled it. But there you’ll come to a treefall that straddles a massive decrepit hollow. You’ve found it. At that junction, you’ll need to turn south. The afternoon sun will be on your right. Remember that, or else you might be lost. For if the midday sun heats the other side of your cheek you’ll surely end up in the mire, and to the god’s sweet graces. With a good bearing, you’ll venture along and steadily climb the crest and walk on. More bramble. More crunch of the mad drifts. And on. The hill will lessen and eventually even. You’ll see an iron gate, or what’s left of it, torn asunder at the point at which the ground levels. Step past the ruined, tarnished iron and onward. You’ll glance upon the final trees atop the hill you’ve climbed. Forever autumn. Blowing their blow, their seed, their color down upon the town below. And amongst this mosaic of amber and faded glory haunts the ghost.

This is exquisite. I love the scenery and sound. The bird reminds me of a whip-poor-will but also it sounds like a "coo-coo" sound (which most of us are xD) ... if we're being honest with ourselves. I see myself on top of the hill looking down at the land in the "next life" and all the problems people have and wishing I could save people from themselves and all that we're that is negative but that will never happen for everyone at the same time. Sombering.
