The Food that People Eat in Zambia 🇿🇲

Today I went out for a food hunt (market hunt) and we went to a restaurant called Zyka Multi Cuisines Restaurant in Chingola Town center in the copperbelt province and we tried original & Authentic Zambian food we were served with fish(bream) and veggies and the Nshima was so delicious and the meal was under $6 which was insane for what we got.

In Zambia, collard greens are called repu and is typically eaten with nshima. In Kenya, collard greens are called sukuma and is typically eaten with ugali. They are a popular vegetable in East and Southern Africa.

Swallows are a category of dough-like African food made of cooked starchy vegetables and/or grains. Fufu of Western Africa, ugali and nsima of Eastern Africa, and sadza of Southern Africa are examples of swallows.

My young man, there's nothing new to say about nshima . It's about time we Zambians realised that our food is boring and it's about time we diversified. I know we hate to hear the truth but we sure need to innovate to attract more tourists to the Musi-o-Tunya.

Food is a major influence that can make you travel to a new destination, I feel your pain I know Zambian food isn’t really given a bigger chance to perform due to lack of promotion of it and if we stand together and promote it, you will see the numbers of tourists too and I agree with you such places should be promoted too

Hello! Are you chewing that corn /maize (ugali) meal or swallowing? In West Africa, they swallow their fufu whole while in East Africa, they chew their ugali before swallowing. So, what are you doing there, chewing or swallowing whole?

Banku is a mix. This is pure maize meal and water. Once you like it it can be addictive food. You need it everyday. Some of our elders can't go to bed without eating it. You can serve people rice, chips and other nice food and st the end they ask, so where is sadza after all that effort. We call it sadza in Zimbabwe and it's staple food. Everyone knows sadza if you socialise with a Zimbabwean. ❤
