Witnessing this legendary steam engine crossing Devonport station is truly breathtaking. This footage rekindles the thrill and nostalgia of steam train travel, taking us back to an era where these majestic locomotives were a daily sight. This was the height of rail travel, the excitement of seeing your steam train arriving at the station. Finding your compartment to travel in and the chugging as the loco built up power whilst pulling away from the station. The journey was part of the holiday. Fantastic. Made my night seeing this.

Thank you for some lovely images of Flying Scotsman from Devonport and Dockyard Stations. These were my local stations when I was growing up in Plymouth over 50 years ago. Today, I am retired and living in Gretna in the Scottish Borders where I record railway videos for my You Tube Channel. Best Wishes.

This a marvleous video. It reminded me of an episode of "Last of the Summer Wine" when Foggy was so excited to show Clegg and Compo a coal powered train and they were standing on the bridge over looking the train tracks and they were engulfed in the smoke as the train passed under.

I lived in Ipswich in the early 50's and made regular trips up to London and back. All the locomotives making that journey were steam powered - though not the Flying Scotsman. In those days we were always in great anticipation that the locomotive would be a new and modern diesel locomotive. But alas, no, it was just another old steam engine. How perspective has changed.

I am afraid that may happen one day, Scotsman attracts so many people and so many seem unaware of what is going on around them. She is now at Keighley 06/05/23 and arrived at 23:30 no doubt done so people would not crowd every station to see her pass

Truly amazing, maybe the Brits have messed around with Greenwich Mean Time and created April 31 out of thin air. I always thought 30 days hath September, April, June, and November, but now we have April 31. Thus stated, why don't they make 11 months of 30 days, with February having 35 days and 36 days each leap year. 🙂🙃🙂

When Jesus walked The Earth, he could have arranged for a steam engine to roar through Galilee. It wouldn't have needed boats or bridges, because this miraculous train could skim the surface of the Sea of Galilee. Holy smoke!
