The Flow Hive for Honey Bees 2nd Honey Harvest Review and Testing

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Do Flow Hives really work? How to get honey from a bee hive.
Continuing to test the Flow-Hive frames and how the honeybees use them. The results are impressive and the honey more abundant with each cycling/removal of honey.

The Flow Hive for honey bees demonstrated some "potential" problems the first time around In this video, not only did the flow-frames NOT leak, but they yielded even more honey than the first time around. • First Flow Hive Extrac...
RAW honey direct from the flow-frames into jars with no filtering, straining or processing/spinning. The honey bees do not have to apply as much wax as with traditional extracting processes generally demand of them and they only replace the cap wax.
How much honey in one flow frame? A Half Gallon!
Remember to remove only surplus honey, not the honey stores that your colony of honey bees need to survive winter or a summer dearth.
IF you have decided to get a FlowHive and would like to save $50.00 on your first purchase, please contact me and provide your e-mail address, I'll take care of you from there!
NOTE: I am NOT compensated nor associated with FlowHive or the Flow Company/Inventors in any way. This is an independent evaluation and I purchased each flowhive directly from the FlowHive website or their Indigogo campaign.
In this video and in my apiary, I am using the the Classic Cedar 7 Frame Flow Supers. They match the 10 frame Langstroth style bee hive boxes.

I mean, I wouldn’t use it either, just because i have 23 hives with multiple supers. Douing it the old fashioned way is just better for me, i already have a separator, so why bother with these? Also, can i harvest bees wax with these? My woman uses bees wax for tons of stuff. But for a beginner who doesnt have the gear, these things look great. It is definitely a great starter set. I would not discourage a new bee keeper from buying a flow hive, thats for sure.

@@stonehorn4641 I agree I have 11 hives and just use an extractor it’s not cost effective for me to replace everything and I use the wax as well. Robbed all my hives in about 3hrs and I don’t mind doing a bit of hard work robbing honey I feel since the bees are working their butts of I can sweat it out a bit as well. Although in the summer here in southern NSW Australia temps can be high 30s or above the 40s deg Celsius I wet down a t shirt keep me cool under my bee rig, helps heaps. Although the flow hive is quite ingenious I must admit and is probably quite useful for some people wanting to have bees.

Your calm well spoken demeanor and highly informative information are top notch and are a natural to the teaching world geared toward the enthusiatic learner, which allows the leaner to embrace all of the knowledge given and move forward with it! While there may be other well done videos out there by other awesome beekeepers and teaching fellows, just as there are various teaching styles, there are also various styles of learners, sometimes creating issues for the learner if the teaching style does not resonate with them. Whether it be the tone of voice, the speed or lack there of in the wording being spoken, lack or too much visual aides and/or other various things! Please don't short change yourself from the joy of teaching and sharing beekeeping information, or those who would learn best from you as a teacher! Some people may need that over the top excitement to stay engaged but others may not and that would be where you could come in and fill a space that is there just waiting on you! This is awesome! I loved the idea of being able to collect honey without disturbing the hive when I heard of these hives. It’s wonderful to see that they do it! You make it look SO easy! Lol. I’m doing research on if it’s legal to put one in my suburban yard. I’m hoping I can do it, and I want to make sure there are enough resources for my bees too.

Many people have told me that I am going to waste my money buying something like this but, your explanation of all the ups and downs was great. I dont often listen to haters but when you have so many of them telling you that it wont work you just start doubting about what can and cannot be done. Thank you again Sr. and greetings from Chile from a very grateful chilean.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. I find them absolutely inspiring and have encouraged me to find out more about bee keeping. I live in Thailand, and there is so much adulterated or fake honey around that I think it would be wonderful to have my own supply of the real deal. The unbiased information and production is of the highest quality and look forward to watching more of work.

Thank you very much for this comment! It is amazing to me, that someone in Thailand is viewing a video made in my own backyard. You are right about honey, even some of the most reputable stores are stocking honey that has been altered by amending with "honey-like" substances to cut cost. Growing your own food and rearing your own bees is a great way to be certain of the origins and content. I wish you the very best!

Thanks for the video! I am thinking of keeping bees. I make mead, and to do it from my own honey seems like an awesome thing. I have already planted wild flower seeds all over my yard during the last weeks of summer, hopefully they'll show up come springtime. A flow hive seems like an awesome system, to minimize the time, tools and effort involved in harvesting the honey!

I grew up with no dad but many many mentors. One of which was a man who did everything solo. He taught me so much about farming, both vegetable and animal, as well as beekeeping. I remember driving all over to various hives that he left on other peoples land to help their crops and make honey for him to sell. I loved all the information he taught me. I love beekeeping. Frank rarely used a suit or viel unless it was warm out and the bees were fiesty. He got stung all te time time but never slowed him a bit. Lived to nearly 100 too.

Fred, as someone very interested - but not yet a beekeeper - your video was very insightful and inspiring. Your video angles and composition are amazing as well. Also, your accurate narration really adds to the overall experience. You cleared up quite a few real-world questions I had, and I would like to see you continue to video capture your harvests for the sake of documentation and information gathering so those who are so outspoken (and have kept me from going with Flow Hive to be honest - for now) can be countered. Thanks you so much for taking the time to do this. It truly is wonderful to witness this amazing work of nature. My sincerest thanks to you.

Frederick, thank you for your Flowhive videos. Like you, I purchased early (6 frame). Like you, I was annoyed with the initial workmanship of the cedar box and hardware. Unlike you, I had no idea what I'm doing with bees. Family intervened. I put the project away until now due to many major family travels and my lack of understanding. You're filling many of my gaps in understanding that the inventors appeared to assume away. One item that still perplexes me is how the boxes merely, loosely stack on each other, and being unconnected - lacking rigid support. We have wind in the northern plains. Your use of ballast on the hive roofs, your measuring of hive slope, and your 'take off stations' made perfect sense. Thanks again.
