    This is going to sell out instantly. Something new and innovative in the multi tool world that is actually affordable and easily customizable. Game changer.

    This really feels like it's going to change the game, I don't see much point (personally) in getting a wave or equivalent with a fixed tool-set over this.

    @@andrewfett142 furthermore, I feel like this is proof that goat changed the game. Brands are already trying to compete with goat tools in this brand new category of tools. I don't, however, think modular multitools will completely revolutionize the market the same way leatherman did. As we have seen, modular multitools are a major engineering challenge and the concept carries more compromises than I think people expected. Personally I doubt I'll change my carry to a modular multitool, as my priorities are more about sturdiness and quality tools over having one tool with exactly what I need, but I might buy this tool if it won't cost too much. Also I have the means to mod my tools so an inherently modular tool loses its luster even more on me.

    I think the best part is that they're also doing everything open source. Obviously they're going to be selling a bunch of implements but being able to mill out whatever tool you need is going to be amazing.

    Maybe one reason Roxon limited the long tools to one per handle is because the second long tool on the far side of the deploy button would not deploy very well or at all when using the deploy button. The long tools have heavier detents to counteract the greater tendency to unintentionally swing open due to the greater mass. Also, the long tools tend to have sharp edges (blades, saw) so heavier detents are required for safety. So, maybe we can rely on fingernail nicks at the tips of all 4 long tools rather than the deploy button. But having just 2 long tools is very limiting, IMHO.

    The big questions for me are "what tools will it come with?" (as in will it come with the full set of interchangeable tools in the box) and "What is the release date?" I wanna see it stress tested a bit to see how these mechanisms hold up to extended use and if that leads to any issues in the long term as well. It looks incredibly promising, especially for the price and what it's potentially offering, but I wanna know if this thing actually holds up to use as a tool, or if it's just a fiddly gimmick.

    12:14 They really should have the Diamond File on the BACK of the regular file instead of a tiny ruler (even if it was an expensive but separate option) I mean TAKE advantage f the "Flex Modular" foundation! ... At least one other multitool has the two-in -one, file feature.

    I have a Roxon phantom and already like the interchangeable blade design and actually I bought quote number of extra blades including the utility knife which I put most of the time in the Phantom. The way Flash did is more friendly and easy. I will buy buy really want Roxon to sell a storage system to keep those extra tools properly. You know in the Phantom, every extra blade has its dedicated plastic box which looks good but waste a lot of space if you want to carry all!

    I enjoy my Phantom, and I too use the utility knife almost exclusively. This early model is reminiscent of the Phantom deployment nib, and oddly, I think I may prefer my Phantom to this design. Of course, it all depends on the tools available, but my Phantom has big scissors and the knife deploys with 1 hand.

    It will seem to make personal modding easier: either taking an existing tool and modifying it, or using a "blank", which they may eventually sell: one end has the correct profile to fit into the Flex, and the other end is literally a blank end, which could be modified by the buyer. Some enterprising Etsy sellers may eventually offer their own blanks for sale, in various steels.

    So innovative! Just when I thought MT design had reached its limit. Roxon has a great MT engineer working for them. And $80 is a steal for this design. I would love to see the long tool slot made wider to hold more long tools, even if the MT becomes bigger, heavier, and costlier overall. One small criticism is that some of the implements appear to have overly rounded edges, which can cause the implement to slip, such as the flat blade screwdriver tips. Also need a 4mm bit driver which does not need a separate adapter and can hold a double-ended bit while the bit holder is folded inside the handle of the MT.

    Max, this is a good iteration for Roxon. I like the standard toolset more than the GOAT but I really like my GOAT despite the wire cutters. I like they did something different and went for an original product. I think it has a lot of potential and I'm very impressed with their first iteration and my purchase. I hope they expand their add on tool selection. I'm not keen on their selection as of right now but it's a good start. I like the feel of the GOAT, the "industry look", a prototype yet refined and I think it's a good light to medium duty multitool. This Roxon is somewhat appealing but I'm more curious to see where it goes after its release and into the hands of users. The durability, the longevity and more add on tools in the future like the GOAT. I hope they both succeed and I'm and stubborn Leatherman lover.

My suggestions would be 1. use this system for a sak style tool. 2. in future make a version with 4 long tools. 3. keep innovating with this modular platform. tool suggestions include 4mm bit holder, t shank holder, if possible incorporate the already existing modular blade exchanger from other tools.

    It would be nice if they had an option to include their fuller size fold-out scissor design, for which Roxon is famous. It's one of the main reasons I carry the KS2 and the M2. If Roxon is ambitious enough, a pen and small emergency LED light would be nice options as well, helping to consolidate my EDC carry.

  • @louzher6968

    @louzher6968

    3 ай бұрын

    @Ludosza your response is confusing, and is indicative that you are not familiar with or do not own Roxon tools. I own multiple Roxon tools. They have a foldout scissor design that is superior and larger than other scissor types. It does not interfere with the pliers in any way. The Roxon M2 that I own, one of multiple Roxon pliers-based multitools, has the pliers and the foldout scissors. I would suggest you go and look at these models more closely or watch some of Maxlvledc's in-depth videos covering various Roxon tools, in order to better understand my comment.

  • @louzher6968

    @louzher6968

    3 ай бұрын

    @Ludosza the scissors on the M2 would easily fit into the Flex handle with no asymmetry. The only downside is that you can't fit as many tools on that side of the handle. As you can see from the KS2 and the M2 and M3, you can only fit one other tool. In the KS2, it's the blade, and with the M2, it's the pliers head. However, if you don't mind sacrificing a few tools, those type of scissors are fine. Because the design is modular, everyone can make their own decision as to whether or not to include them.

I like the fact that the overall tool is a bit longer than the wave, which makes the weight more balanced and less brick-like when in the pocket. Overall, really impressive design!

Those of us with large hands probably would prefer a chunkier tool..😉 I'm less likely to drop a larger multi-tool, i personally use a Surge, and have 2 so that i can always do those jobs where both ends of a fastener need holding tight... Extra replaceable wire cutter blades should be made available at extra cost, along with extra implements at extra cost. We don’t need extra stuff with the basic MT package which will increase the price of the basic package. So, the basic MT package for $80 should only include just the MT and the sheath.

    If you replace the scissors, could you get a extra small tool in it, since the scissors are extra wide? I am excited that the file is decent. It only has to knock off sharp edges on plastic and wood for me. Is the saw good? For $80, then maybe up to $120 for the extra tools, this is definitely a great buy. Make sure you have this in your recommendations and you will get some kick back money from this. 😀 I also use the Leatherman flat driver for small prying or to clear a joint, so a actual flat driver is important to me.

If the price of an alternative tool set approaches a complete tool I would rather have two tools instead of one and a bunch of parts. I could build an urban tool and a hunting tool. The individual tools have to be very inexpensive to make in worth it to swap them in and out. You are just going find the right tool set and leave it that way. When the P320 became popular you heard a lot of "one serial number many guns" talk. That quickly morphed into I can build the pistol the way I want to. Nobody swaps out frames, barrels, magazines and calibers on a daily or weekly basis.

    I'd be interested to see how light it could get for travel/hiking. Maybe they could have lightweight spacers to remove unneeded tools for those situations? In a similar vein, some tweezers would be nice. Does this have a release date? Also interested in your callipers, they look solid.

    Thanks ! Any info on the steels they used ? I am super happy with what they have done for their KS2 Elite.

    How many pieces are following the tool? And how many in total? Look awsome👍

    You should make a comparison between it and the goat tool and see if the tools of one can work in the other

    9:03 Probably have t wait until the regular production models come out soon, but perhaps Leatherman or other popular stoked replacement cutter inserts will work?? Even if it takes a little mod. Some of the made in China ones are a better replacement in many people's opinion, for example in the case of the Leatherman Arc's "Coat Hanger Gate" issue :)

    I might have missed this. Does Roxon have a way for us to plan ahead for fitting tools of different thickness together? You touched on it already. If we can know for sure "tool A + B + C will fit in side-by-side smoothly", or "A + B + D will not", that would be great.

    When I thought I’d narrow it down to getting the Leatherman Arc, then I see this. Any other multiples you wanna throw in the running to make the choices harder lol. With it being open source may model and print some spacers of different thicknesses.

    As someone who owns and genuinely likes the Arc imo if you want multitool that is able to replace a dedicated blade the arc is great , if you are a steel geek and don't own magnacut and you want a multitool, again the arc is great. If you want a an easy to use one handed tool the arc is it , and if you want something that can be passed down(40 year warranty, the arc is good) . But if those things don't matter, this tool looks great , and it being opened sourced is great. I can't wait to see what implements are going to be made for it .

    @@rickyricardo3551 so far biggest priorities are one handed opening, a good blade, good pliers, and easy access tools. 90% of the time I need a multi tool I’m already holding something or just need it for a quick moment. Or using pliers to remove 3D printed supports.

    How will it perform in the field? Eg :dusty muddy n wet environments.will the mechanism jam? Are the tools less durable when torqued since there are additional cut outs for interchangeablility. Thank you!
