    John Lemons, Thanks for the kind words and thank you for being the first to leave a comment. By the way, that Coca-Cola steamer is just awesome! My grandson's had a party the other day so I set it up for them and the kids loved it! My 4 year old grandson pretended to be a hot dog vendor serving the other kids. ♥ Mike ☺

    Kitchen Tips Online awe how cute Mike, my grandson just had his 4th a couple of days ago as well, (small world) we could’ve used that steamer, or your video, cuz cooking hotdogs and burgers for a bunch of kids AND their folks wiped us OUT lol. I’m happy to be here, I really enjoy your work. Blessings my friend, can’t wait for the next. 😊👍👏👏👏

    For the dirty water boiled dogs, you can use some of the brine from a jar of sweet pickles. If you are steaming hot dogs in the summer, you can line the steamer with corn husks so they don’t stick to the steamer. If you don’t have corn husks, you can use a lettuce leaf or a cabbage leaf.

    You can steam your buns in your steamer pan too , but I read not to cover with lid because condensation will make the buns too soggy. What are ingredient amounts to cumin, vinegar, and nutmeg to make the” dirty water”.

  • @KitchenTipsOnline

    @KitchenTipsOnline

    Tom, that's a good tip for the bun. And you're right, to prevent the bun from getting too soggy, you should remove the lid and only leave it in the steam for a short amount of time. As for the dirty water ingredients, I wouldn't normally measure the ingredients for dirty water, but here's what I recommend: 1 quart of water, 2 tablespoons of red wine vinegar, 1/8th teaspoon of ground cumin, garlic powder, and nutmeg. Mike 🧔

    I don't believe it goes bad but it does tend to dry out a little bit and become thick. When that happens, I just add a little water to it. We have it on our Amazon Affiliate Store if you want to get some, Mike ☺ amzn.to/2QdAHfQ

    i use 2 steamers together for making hot dogs, a cheap chinese aluminum steamer set and a cheap chinese bamboo steamer set. i use the aluminum pan for the water with the hot dogs in one of the aluminum trays, put the second aluminum tray over that then place one of the bamboo trays inside the aluminum tray. buns get wrapped in paper towels then placed in both bamboo trays, then cover with the bamboo lid, don't use the aluminum lid. dogs and buns steam together in 5 minutes and you can cook a dozen at a time. yes, you could steam the hot dogs in the bamboo trays but then your bamboo steamer will always smell and taste like hot dogs... i like to save my bamboo steamer for vegetables, breads, dumplings etc. and keep meat and fish away from it.
