He actually does, because time travel fucks with everyone including him. If barry were to for example save him mom right then and there, Thawne would be erased. And a new timeline causes the new Thawne (RF) to create even more problems. Like he said, anything he changes. Timeline will replace it, unless you know how to slowly change it without creating a whole new timeline.

It's the fact that the first half of Season 1 is already a new timeline because Thawne killed Nora. Then, in 1x15, Barry went back in time on accident, creating a new timeline. Then, in Season 2, he went back and told Thawne all about it, and his past self found out, creating a NEW timeline. Bro, there's like 7 more times, but I don't feel like typing

The “how” and the “what” are two different questions with two very different answers. “How” implies what Barry did to time travel. “What” implies events that happened that leading up to the “how”.

That's cause Thawne needed him to be fast so he can be fast as well and go home. In the first timeline where Barry's mom wasn't killed he would have learned all of this himself eventually

Daniel Lee It is impressive that Thawne was always aware of Barry time traveling. But it all depended on which future timeline Barry came from. This Barry was just 1 day older so Thawne knew he was no threat. But he was in menace mode if Barry came from the timeline where Thawne was exposed and if Barry was still alive in that timeline that means that Thawne's plan had failed.

See, that's the thing. Thawne has the ability to change past and not alter the future in such extreme ways, whereas Barry... well, quite the opposite

I'm guessing that's why we haven't been able to time travel or invent time machines. Can you imagine a world where 9/11 didn't happen, Selena wasn't murdered, so many things I'd go back to change. And I wouldn't even know if I could return to my original timeline and if everything I had left still exists i.e my family, loved ones etc. Heck I may not even be alive in such a drastic change of said timeline. Time travel is one heck of a concept..

Barry traveled so many time back and forth, he screwed it even more.

Dismount really is sick. He is enjoying screwing around with Barry's confidence. It's always one step forward and two steps back when he feels that he's getting too far behind his control.

And yet even after that Barry still messed with time literally time and time again and Wells/THawne wasn't wrong about the havoc he would wreck either. I mean heck even Jay Garrick a fellow speedster warned him of such at one point later on and he still didn't listen.

What’s crazy is thawne actually helped Barry and millions of people by killing his mother. If Barry saves his mother all those people die and the flash never existed. So thawne is actually a hero

​​@@mohammadhosseini6675 The original Flash's mother did die. That's why he stopped Barry from saving her. The only difference is when the particle accelerator exploded. It was earlier because of Thawne. Barry only became the Flash because he was struck by lightning and doused in those chemicals. He only was near those chemicals because he's a CSI and he was only a CSI because of his mother's death.

@@j0doe1 No, in the CW's original timeline Barry's mom never died. Both his parents lived and he grew up to be the flash anyway. It was his mom's death by thawne that actually stopped him from being the flash, "if you suffered a tragedy, one you could never recover from, then you wouldn't become a hero". That's what thawne said and he said it worked. But because of that, thawne lost his speed and had to manipulate the timeline again to force barry to become the flash.

At this point how did Barry not question Thawne about the timeline being a fragile thing or that the timeline will find a different tragedy to occur.

Decades....centuries imagine the havoc you could wreck. Ya mean much like how the Legends did? The ones charged with or claiming to be the ones to maintain or protect history and the timeliness? Because havoc was all they caused. 😊

Tbh I don’t think it made sense that if one villain was beaten then another would take its place unless cold was planning a move at the same time or unless it was like a power vacuum. Villains work individually and avoid being in the crosshairs of each other. Who knows but it aint a time thing. Time just exists and moves.

Honestly looking back it’s very obvious that this is Thawne lmao. Why else does “Wells” know how fragile the timeline is unless he’s just repeating what he’s heard from movies?

I'm glad this concept of Time Travel where if you mess with time (or the natural order of the Universe,) it messes right back at you with something far worse (balance is maintained through a harsh process) was carried over from Smallville. 🚨SPOILERS🚨 Clark's death at the beginning of season 5 being undone required a trade-off to maintain a Universal Balance, to be paid at a later date would eventually lead him into his first Time Travel experience where he prevents the intended death of a loved one. HOWEVER, the Time and the Universe chose someone else important to Clark had to pay that price to maintain balance, and there was nothing he could do to change that outcome.
