Spent the last 40 years not knowing about this album. Started with Reach the Beach. What a masterpiece this album is.

Loved this album since I was 19, am 57 now. Played it on cassette from vinyl in a Sentra going uphill to Tahoe going skiing and coming downhill on an Aiwa walkman. Good times! Skiing was affordable and not crowded in those times. I made 6 bucks an hour which was ok since min wage was 3.35! Glad you discovered this LP.

The eighties were a side-step from the kick-ass seventies. As evidenced by Depeche Mode's influence, tech was king, but rhythm was and always will be Queen. Speaking of whom ...

Bought this album on vinyl (highly used) and still love it. Shuttered Room doesn't have a bad song on it, and I was glad to have discovered "Cameras In Paris." This should have been a Top 10 single. Great stuff.

This is like an omen 15 years before Princess Di passed away. I can't help but intertwine the two in my head with her running from the paparazzi and the lyrics.

This tune may be a bit ancient to some of you out there, but the fact is that at nearly 40 years old, it still kicks ass!!!

I remember when this album was released back in 1982. I was in my sophomore year in college and it completely blew me away! What really made it special was the fact that no band had made such an album back then and its tracks were an awesome and welcome relief to the music that was being played on the radio at the time. Now, 40 years later, I can truly appreciate it and enjoy it much more than ever before.

If this killer tune doesn't make you want to get up & dance (or at least tap your feet), then there's something inherently wrong with you, or you just simply don't dig '80s music.

The instrumentals on this song remind me of those of the Stranglers, especially from songs on the Feline (1982) and Aurul Sculpture (1984) albums. Likewise, as others have mentioned, the instrumentals and vocals on 'Some People' (same album) can easily be mistaken for those of the Talking Heads, especially from the 'Fear of Music' (1979) and 'Remain in Light' (1980) albums.

I think The Fixx are somewhat comparable to Duran Duran, and despite Duran Duran's higher profile and popularity, The Fixx are much better songwriters. Cy Curnin is really a tremendous singer,
