Likely he told his parents that everything was Gabby's fault, that she had a temper, that she was on meds, that she attacked him, that he tried to push her away, that she accidentally fell down and hit her head on a rock, that he tried to save her but she died, that he panicked and left the body and went home, that he wants their help to stay out of life in prison, blah blah blah. This is a societal norm that has worn out its welcome. It's WRONG for anyone, man OR woman to hit anyone else. We all need to change this old fashioned rule that is minimally hurtful up to including woman on man homicide. I'm a man that held this belief which almost got me killed...for real. I'm a big dude...230bs all muscle, but im not violent or a douchebag. I stayed with an abusive female for far too long bc of this implied myth that it is socially acceptable for a woman to hit a man. @@santoparfano1910 I am more of a modern person, however, I do believe in certain old fashioned things. And It is wrong for anybody to hurt others without it being self defense. HOWEVER men are usually stronger so they can take falls and hits way more than girls are accustomed to (depending on where they live and how they are raised.) I do not think that men should hit women though because to defend themselves they could simply grab them in a hugging position or push them off and leave the area. For girls and women involved in fights with boys/men (especially those that are bigger than them), it is way harder to push them off or actually cause physical harm to them without using weapons. SO that's what I meant.

@@Amanda-hw3yg obviously but I was speaking in terms of self defense. However, I've seen men that don't hit women back and I find them to be more manly than the men who use the excuse of being hit first by a woman to hit them back. Men who do not hit women back, are more courageous than cowardly (even though the woman is in the wrong). Men who hit women back usually do it to show them that they are "the man". Although women should respect men enough to not hit them without reason; men should also be aware of their strengths. We cannot make excuses for men because we want everything to be equal. Reasons as to why I am a womanist and not a feminist. I do not believe in equality between genders, because there are clear differences in the anatomy and psyche of males compared to those of a female. Males are known to be more aggressive, whereas females are known to be more nurturing and docile. I could write a whole research paper about this but I still stand on what I said.

The other thing is that SHE HAD JUST CALLED OFF THEIR ENGAGEMENT A WEEK BEFORE! This is THE MOST DANGEROUS TIME -- trying to separate from the abuser. And there she was alone in the wilderness with him, and afraid to drive that big van herself. She was effectively trapped and dependent on his good will. The fact that he was trying to lock her out and taking her phone shows that he was well aware of the power he held over her, and the fear he was purposely generating. She felt uncomfortable, but was largely unaware of the danger she was in. Young women need to be better educated about the danger signals, and the most dangerous times. She should have phoned for help the SECOND he tried to lock her out of that van.

Everyone deserves for their voice to be heard, even individuals that have been involved in gang activity and made bad choices. Geraldo is also responsible for exposing Willowbrook. His actions led to massive changes in the the treatment of mentally challenged adults and children. If Geraldo did nothing else in his life, exposing Willowbrook was more than enough. He put himself at personal and professional risk to expose the plight of institutionalized Americans. He’s still friends to this day with Mr. Bernard. A gentleman that lived at Willowbrook from age 3-21. Bernard’s only disability is physical and he told Geraldo he wanted access to books so he could learn to read. Over the years Bernard has tirelessly advocated for disabled Americans. He learned to read after Geraldo got him out of hell. Bernard earned a college education and speaks publicly about the abuses, including sexual he suffered at the mental institution. Geraldo saved Bernard’s life as well as hundreds of other Willowbrook “patients”. For that, he deserves the utmost respect IMO.

Even now they still haven't labeled him a suspect...so he is still considered a free man just missing NOW the only thing I could see them getting in Any trouble for would be filing a false missing person/police report But even that would be hard to prove cause they can just stick to the story as they been doing and no other way to prove that. Flags were clear as day : her taking responsibility right away away for fear of what happens next , him being way to talkative and manipulative . Her being uncontrollably upset she’s not even hearing what they are asking trust me in her head she is saying how am I gonna get out of this and be safe with him , he needs to see and hear I am not blaming him . At this point she’s no way out , he will continue his ways at home or on a trip either way something bad is end result and she knows this. So very sad the the professionals that see this everyday ie the police couldn’t see her desperation as they see these patterns everyday. RIP Gabby❤️

It's like we expect the cops to be all-knowing, psychologists, lawyers, professors, compassionate life savers, yet badasses, and fortune tellers. The cops really tried to get to the bottom of it on the side of that hot road that day. The mental abuse of DV had her convinced she was the problem and he had the scratches, but was he the primary aggressor? In the end, yes, but could it be determined with what they had on that day? I don't think so. They were more inclined to take _her_ to jail.

The fact that they reported him missing after they realized she was missing is important. I don't believe they knew anything was wrong because he never said anything tothem. If he would not talk to the police, it was because he didn't want the disapproval of his parents on top of the guilt he might have been already feeling. He knew what he did was wrong, but aggressors of his nature, justify their actions because they feel they deserved to mete out punishment for the refusal of their subject to submit to them! Yes, that is the power play. A big power play was locking her out of her own vehicle, taking her property, her phone, and threatening her with whatever he could that he knew would push her buttons and make her conform to his demands, which I believe to be the money, because that was the FIRST THING HE DID WHEN SHE WAS OUT OF THE WAY, TAKE HER MONEY!

This is really f*cked up how people automatically assume the guy is the primary aggressor / instigator in domestic violence cases. Studies have been done on this and it's actually WOMEN who initiate most DV

@Canned Ham, agreed- also when systems are involved the one who abuses makes threats of more severe harm if victim does not “cover up” or “accept blame”. I’ve worked with many victims and survivors that have tried their best to “fight back” where the abuser had scratches or marks. Many times victims do not involve LEO due to more severe punishment by the abuser.

They moved out of the home immediately. She was the most wonderful, compassionate, bright and caring woman I have ever known in my life. She never even shared her experiences with me until I was mid-teens myself. In her obituary are 3 or 4 of my sisters' friends who are listed as 'honorary' family members who always called her Mom.

“it is always the guy” - this is the problem because it’s not always the male. They also forgot to mention the scratch marks on his face, so she hit him at some point and time before the cops pulled them over. Don’t remember seeing any on Gabby? They, the cops, were considering bringing HER in for domestic abuse. 2 “eye” witnesses seeing a couple fighting ALWAYS blames the guy, much like this phony judge up here. This is a problem, one of them, in the justice system for sure. Why didn’t they make an arrest? It was going to be Gabby going to jail at that stop, not Brian. Ever hear of “pretty blond girl syndrome” that can effect some cop’s ability to give tickets? If there were any markings on Gabby then Brian would have been shoved on the ground and taken in no question about it. Did the panel not hear the cops discussing how they thought she didn’t grab the wheel, she punched Brian in the arm, but Brian wasn’t going to give her up? So their hands were tied because they didn’t have a solid case against the MALE victim at this point. Now everything that transpired afterwards is a different story and nobody really knows, so we’ll have to wait and see. Sort of weird they still haven’t released the way in which she died.

@@kaptkirk5580 The cops clearly didn’t want to do the work. One cop goes to great lengths to put all the responsibility on another cop and they literally just get rid of the problem. The female officer present feels guilty, she’s come out and said she tried to tell Gabby to get away when clearly Gabby was the abuser, even admitting it was her hitting Brian and scratching his face. The Police should have done more but because it was a “male victim” they didn’t. Just got him a room and let them hook up the next day. They literally sent the victim away to be with the abuser and didn’t bat an eye lid, now the abuser is dead and everyone thinks it’s the victim who did it, simply because the victim is a male.
