    At our drop-in, the ambassadors often ask me to play on the competitive courts rather than on the intermediate, so I am often the weakest link on the court. If and when my team loses, I always thank my partner for playing with me and bringing me along. I don't beat myself up and I am getting better, while learning a lot. Being grateful and humble go a long way to making even a losing game a winner for all.

    i played with some girls the other night and only won one out of six games. i was feeling really down about it. after a day of rest i went back out, played with comparable and better players, won only two out of seven games, ha ha, but i walked away feeling better about myself because I SHOWED UP AND COMPETED and i tried to give myself pats on the back for the good stuff i did. great video!

    I think the last part about using a positive supportive attitude especially when outmatched is the most important advice ! How much better my play goes when I feel buoyed up by my forgiving partner! Winning is nice but we’re here to play! And enjoy it!

    Great job Nicole. You really do a great job on focusing on what's important to the vast majority of players. While I love the 5 rules the order seems a bit random. Not sure how they should go but maybe#4 should be #5?

  • @primetimepickleball

    @primetimepickleball

    2 жыл бұрын

    We coaches do tend to put that at #5 which is why I did not want to put it there because it is such an underrated skill. I think we need to put more emphasis on it. Without it, everything else falls apart in a hurry. Sometimes I think maybe I should have put it at #1.

  • @kbotelho27

    I really like how the male player had a short backswing on his forehand drives. Really gives you the edge to hit the ball in front of you.

    True, however many don't come from a tennis background. Also, as much as they seem like common sense to some, these things are just not obvious too many players.

    I find my forehand to be very reliable. You need a backswing on a forehand groundstroke. Mine is achieved mainly from a shoulder turn and I’m not reaching back. That said, I’m always looking to improve it and will definitely look at all aspects of it on an ongoing basis including my backswing. Thanks!

    it looks good to me! you were a tennis player and i’m sure you are doing fine on the PB courts with your own style. i don’t bring my paddle back far enough and i need to learn to generate speed. i’ve been criticized for not keeping my ball low enough so i’m going to try your style!

  • @primetimepickleball

    @primetimepickleball

    Thanks. It’s all in the shoulder turn. I don’t reach back. The shoulder turn makes it look bigger than it is. It’s deceiving. So focus on a strong shoulder turn and DO NOT reach back.

    When you “invent/create” a game then you can name it….but until then. Football is another sport not named correctly. Soccer should be football.

    I read that the name “pickle ball” originated because the inventor’s dog was named Pickle and would always try and steal the ball. The game was invented in California in the 1970’s of 80’s.
