For younger people watching: I am 56 and was diagnosed with WMD 2 years ago. Although I'm getting injections to slow the progression, I just wish I was smarter in my younger years. I'm just praying I won't lose the ability to read, my favorite and most fulfilling pastime. Do all you can now to prevent this devastating condition.

@@beepbop8123 One eye, the right. It's more like a blur right in the middle, the macula. I'd say it's moderate. I was fortunate it was diagnosed early with a scan at the office of my regular opthalmologist. ( I have diplopia as well). I've been getting injections in the right eye for almost a year. It's getting slightly better but the important thing is, it's not getting worse. I can still read , with the right eye covered. I get treatment by a retina specialist.

Currently I'm taking the AREDS, eatting more spinich with my eggs in the morning, taking fish oil supplements, and will start moving my work computer further away. And I need to purchase some better sunglasses. And I need to get more salmon in my diet. This Dr didn't say anything about spinich, however Dr Berg does mention it to be important. And it can't hurt.

Thank you, Dr. Mendelsohn. I am 66 and was diagnosed with Dry MD in both eyes about a year ago when I noticed the lines on my computer were wavy near my central vision in my right eye. I have a family history of wet and dry MD. My Ophthalmologist said I would likely loose my central vision within 10 years. Then she recommended AREDS 2 twice a day and I've been diligently taking them ever since. I just had a follow-up and my ophthalmologist happily said my eyes are stable, and while not expecting it, she said my eyes actually looking a little better.

I'm fm India and my father is suffering fm AMD for the past few years which has become worse now and his vision is all but gone. His age is 75+. I used to wonder what's the reason? It couldn't be Diabetic Retinopathy bcz he nvr had any history of blood sugar. He had quit smoking almost two decades back and evn thn he was not a vry heavy smoker. He had cataract sugery few yrs bk and was under regular treatment under an ophthalmologist. But I think it is just bad luck that he's suffering lyk this.

Great content Dr. My 13 year old daughter has asymptomatic atypical ERM around her RE Macula which has progressed over 2 years. The amount of iPad time she spends due to school and then using it for downtime, its out of this world. She's literally spent time in front of the iPad from waking to Bed! Many times! And while her Optometrist said its unlikely the cause or could cause progression, I somehow don't find it comforting or believable! Intuitively I have advised by daughter to not have the iPad screen so close to her face, but she doesn't like it, I belive some really good Blue blockers, diet and reduction is sugar could help stop/ reduce the spread? Also the downtime will spent on blue screens needs to be eliminated, for my sons too, they are just as bad. Great content sir. Many Blessings.

@@kristinemeints Hi, Over the last three years I've been getting injections in my right eye for macular d. up until then I was and still am using eye drops to control the pressure in my eyes for glaucoma (it never just rains before it pours) I suggest looking up Dr Berg and anything linking age related macular degeneration and nutrition. When I was first diagnosed with glaucoma I studied everything I could find and took several vitamins listed for the eyes plus blueberries and the Dr (not knowing I had stopped using the eye drops for the 3 months between appointments, told me to keep on doing whatever I was doing and so I did...18 months later my eyes spiked in pressure and he wanted to know what happened? Embarrassed because I hadn't had the courage to inform him I then confessed; furious he checked my charts to see that the pressure had not increased until this apt. but I none the less I did not stop the drops in defiance; I had presumed that the following apt would reveal a spike and I could quietly go back on the eye drops without too much ado. Back to the point; our physical health has much more to do with good nutrition than I had ever guessed. Because I live in Australia, I couldn't get all of the recommended herbs and not all items are suitable for all people, so check everything out and make a plan, the injections worked very well; almost no distortion at all. Hope this helps

Polarized sunglasses can make some people feel "crazy." Basically while or after wearing them for a while (for me it was more than 2-3 hours continuously) you start to feel disoriented and unbalanced as though you have vertigo. It takes some time in a fully shaded area, like indoors, to recover from this. What's the deal? Others report this on the Internet as well.

Macular Degeneration didn't exist prior to the anti cholesterol low fat diet. Ditto with Alzheimer's. Humans need 55 percent of their diet with fat. Stay far away from vegetable oils, use real fats and you shouldn't have this problem.

Melony: l could not afford the Bausch and Lomb Areds or Areds 2, so l looked at the main ingredients which are vitamins A (retinol), C, E, and zinc. I also take lutein daily. I take more of each that is in the B & L formula, Fortunately, I also like fish. That has helped my AMD.

Greetings. Whilst some of your findings may be informative & important, I'd like to know something from this doctor. You said in the United States macular is high! Is this disease amoungst black & white people, or is it predominantly a european (white) disease? As your already know the United States is very diverse, with many (DILUTED) ethnicities. So please be specific when you mentioned the United States. I'm aware to some degree, that many diseases started from Recesses Gene Pool. Can you please enlighten the public with MORE truths!

Great info. Thank you. I guess some supplements containing Luten, beta caretone, fish oil for repairing damaged caused Also using Anti Blue light glasses eliminating upto 400uv of light which is the main culprit. Also reducing small and closely used digital gadgets per hour/day especially at a strech over an hour. You can also add a drop of virgin coconut oil, few times a day. It has excellent tissue repair properties too.
