"This is a basic jump" and proceeds to miss many times...classic Sophist underestimating. So Stache gives you better chances at getting a Lucky or Critical hit in battle, doubling the damage of your attacks. In Superstar Saga, it gives discounts to items bought at shops (down to half their usual price), and lets you sell items at higher prices!

Editor was face palming at this entire experience, and so was I.

Sophist is getting pretty lucky with his attacks. It's almost as if his stache stat was high or something.

Oh man, this will be an experience stached with fun and professional gameplay, right?

Stache (Horn for Bowser) is a unique statistic in the Mario & Luigi RPG series, similar to Luck in other RPGs. It usually gives Mario, Luigi, Bowser, or Paper Mario better chances at getting a "Critical" or "Lucky" hit in battle, doubling the damage of their attacks.

It decreases prices in Superstar Saga and Partners in Time. Bowser's Inside Story has a scratch ticket.

Mario & Luigi Saga is just fking TOP Tier

I love how Sophist tells us to comment whether what he's doing in this video is bad or not, while already recording him going ahead with the game and his poor choices. It's like watching a man in the distance run at Mach 5 towards a cliff and you see a paper beside you that says "warn me if there's a dangerous cliff ahead!"

sophist like "making both bros jump at the same time in combat may screw me up later" when, in fact, that is the pro strat.

There are very few attacks like some of the final boss' attacks that require timing for dodging.

It's so sad that AlphaDream, the company that gave the series so much character, has been bankrupt for so long.

Stache improves luck for crits, and helps buy and sell things for better prices. Overall, it's a very Sophist decision to choose, lol. Edit: Brent is probably cringing watching this video.

That Queen Bean fight, is the perfect example of the definition of insanity. I don't know If I should be amazed by Sophist's determination, or if I should be afraid of his persistance on making the same mistake over and over expecting different results.

Going from King of Skill breezing through the game to Choctopus being good at it but not as much to Sophist just having a hard time does really make watching this game a fun experience.

I'll imagine other Mario and Luigi titles coming to the Switch coming sooner or later. (This comment seemed to have aged well.)

Watching this after watching Brent's playthrough is an enlightening experience about how Brent is really good at video games (as long as they're games he's played several dozen times over the course of his childhood)!

i used to unironically put most of my points into stache when i first started playing superstar saga because my mindset going in was: i will simply put points into my lowest stat every level up.

I need another one of these. The action commands are an amazing mechanic, and I want to see them again.

Glad I wasn’t the only one struggling badly with this game 😅 but I’ve got a lot better as it’s my first time Also for the bonuses: HP and Defence are pointless unless you get hit by literally everything, probably pick power most of the time it’s the most useful, BP is good if you use Bro attacks a lot, speed isn’t really needed but you’ll need enough for the final boss, stache is ok it just increases your chances of getting ‘lucky’ in your attacks but it only works on normal attacks

My first ever RPG experience, a staple of my childhood. You know this game is amazing if you, Brent and Choc are all making video's on it at the same time. also some helpful advice, not even Little Timmy talk here. you don't even have to use the lower modes to practise the timing of the bros attacks, just use the rewind feature lol.

This is the most infuriating Mario and Luigi gameplay I have ever seen, but one of the funniest videos I have seen in a bit

Sophist is obviously using less than 1% of his full power in this playthrough.

Stache: It decreases the amount of money you’ll spend at the shop, but it also increases your chances for a lucky (critical) hit.

Only now finished this mario and luigi related video but I got to say it was very entertaining also watching you struggle at some points was hilarious lol.

I was a dumb child that didn't read his games until like... a year or two after this game came into my possession, and I still managed to figure this game out and learn things fairly fast for spam skipping text on the first time playing it. Even better on playthrough two where I actually read things and di more than pump HP because I was bad at dodging a lot. lol

Honestly, it's kinda fitting that Sophist would put all his bonus points in what is essentially the luck stat considering how bad his luck tends to be.

The funny thing about this is over on King of Skill's channel I suggested a Stache-only run as a challenge. But a Sophist is fine too.

Tanoombas (the raccoon goombas) are meant to be fought later in the game, when you have a higher level.

Stache is kind of a luck factor stat: it increases the chances of getting a critical/lucky hit when hitting an enemy. It'll also put discounts in shops (at least in the first three games) when high enough. So yeah, perfect stat for TCNick3, amiright?

Once you reach the ice palace, they make sure it takes one or two hits before death in my play, probably would change if your defense were higher. Also, timing is very important, unless you wanna end up losing to a boss.

Im sure ya had tons of comments explaining what Stache does, but I think you did well with this game! You made it alot farther than I did when I tried doing stache as a kid lol well done man :)

Stache is basically your luck stat. It increases the likelihood of critical hits while also giving you a discount in shops.

Not sure if you want it baby mode but you can easily create a save file before getting your bonus stat to guarantee get a 3 because if you don’t get a 3 you can just log back the save file :p

stache is actually a pretty cool stat to focus on! The more you have, the higher chance you have to land a “lucky” hit at random (which gives you more damage) and the lower prices are ar shops. So its kinda perfect for you and a good stat/bit to commit to.

Thanks for using the track "Oregano Mirage" from Pizza Tower at the beginning of the video, the soundtrack and the game are amazing!

Thank goodness Sophist levels up his stashe. It's the only Stat that does not raise naturally. It also gets you sweet sweet discounts

The "Stache" bonus gives you a higher chance to hit crits which boosts your damage by 1.5%

I personally see Mario as Peanut Butter and Luigi as Jelly/Jam.

Stache basically is the luck stat. It gives you a higher chance to get a critical hit with an attack and also gives discounts at stores.
