As much as I wish I had sent my dog to Brandon for training before bringing him home kzread.infoUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU I am so grateful for this down-to-earth, practical guide. His training techniques and tips really work. Thank you as well for dedicating your life's work to rescue dogs, and to rescuing those of us who want the very best for our 4-legged family members.

Best4rtNiteClips ah yes, a fake trainer. Fake trainers always have well selled books that are number 3 on best dog training books. Fake trainers are also sponsored by tons of companies to promote their items and they can also definitely teach a dog to stall on their back in one or two tries. And don’t even mention how you are claiming that you know all his stats on his 10 year KZread channel.

Hearing "your dog wont play outside if they're not used to being outside" was so good to hear for me. We got a new shelter dog who's two years old, and she has a lot of anxiety. For a blue heeler I expected lots of energy, but it's been the hardest thing to get her to play. The most we've managed is fetch indoors once a day for like five minutes. She loves walking outside but she definitely doesn't show interest in play even more out there. When she has an anxiety attack, she shuts down and doesn't like food, she doesn't pay attention to play to begin with, she won't listen to commands, and both comfort and leaving her alone don't help. We end up waiting it out in her crate where she calms down the fastest despite not enjoying her crate. She's a happy sweet little girl, but she's a little stubborn with commands so I've been doing short training sessions with treats to reinforce and teach commands which has been helping a lot. All in all, she's a well socialized sweet dog, but her learning is in progress. More than anything I want to teach her how to play like a normal dog

It's actually a good idea to take handfuls of things like cashews, if your dog is always used to just one or two things falling on the floor, then maybe one day you'll have a whole bag of something and drop it, and then the dog will react differently

I have loved watching every single one of these episodes. Thank you so much for your commitment to your dogs and to your audience. I have been training a 7 year old beagle that has bitten three people (not deep bites but has drawn blood). He has protection issues and is very reactive to everything. Every single video has been an indispensable resource to add to our training in our 1 on 1 class with a trainer. Soon, I should be able to take him back out into public with confidence that he will not go for anyone, and then, into the woods where he loves to be.

@@pinkunicorn7035 She may handle a Border Collie perfectly...she may have a lot of experience....she may have a talent for training..she also may pick an unusually laid back puppy. I commented not to say she should not have a Border Collie....many people have them and they fit quite well with their life. But not telling her about the Border Collie being the smartest dog in the world and having insane energy is like not telling someone if they dont get great recall with their greyhound...it may be particularly difficult to chase...or if they adopt a rottweiller who pulls...walking it may really suck....or that an afghan hound may chase their cat...or that a older dog may be more expensive in vet bills and make little ones sad when they die with less time to explain such things.. .or like not telling a family an adult akita could make everyday tasks with a newborn infant hard. Im not sure where the disagreement is. I tell everyone who says they want a Border the same exact thing because i know how they can overwhelm the wrong person quickly. By the wrong person i dont mean someone who i "judge" as a wrong fit...but someone who is very unhappy because no one helped them make an informed choice. For example...id be concerned if someone gave an 80 year old woman a full grown great dane that pulls. Id wonder if either party considered how that could become a hardship really fast...and older people dont heal from injury like younger people do. However i know some elderly people who are more capable than i am and are quite able to raise large dogs. I just dont see the harm in sharing information. She can take it or leave it. Either way i hope what i said either helps her see shed be happier with another breed or more inspired than ever because shes totally into an extreme dog. Depending upon perspective what i said could literally be taken the opposite way. I asked are you sure? She could respond " more sure than ever now that i have even more facts". Thats assuming she didnt already know what i shared. .hope you are having a great day 😊

@@pinkunicorn7035 i agree with you. Thats why i didnt lol 😊 Chase your dreams people. Thats what i did. Theres nothing wrong with making an informed decision and nothing wrong with being totally confident you have made a good choice. I am totally confident in my choice and you should be too.

I have a 13 year old border collie and next week getting a BC puppy it’s been 13 years since I had a puppy ! Be nice to see how you train a puppy when you have an old dog that is already set in his ways !!

My girl charlotte has gotten leave it pretty well in the last week so we're trying to evolve it into "leave her" so that she doesn't jump up on our other dog. "Leave it" has been so helpful.

Very interesting episode! Love following along with your training. One thing I can't help to wonder, is why "home alone"-training didn't start earlier? Why not start the training as soon as the puppy gets comfortable at home? Of course only for very short periods of time in the beginning but over time adding more time. For comparison, our puppy, at 4 months, is able to be home alone between 4 and 5 hours, without any anxiety or destructive behavior. Also, will there be an episode (or several) with off-leash walking? We're working on it at the moment, and want to be confident in our come when called, when the dog knows the leash is off. Again, love following along :-)

i wish i had this chance to train my dog from puppyhood. We got our dog a month ago at 18 months old after he ran away from home most likely as a result of neglect. He's very reactive and the outdoors are pretty stressful for him. Every training session is a bit of a struggle but we're gonna be patient and get through this.
