    @TheCap319 no. The resistance was not the new republic. The New Republic refused of acknowledge the threat of the First Order. So Leia broke away and took some republic assets with her. So the resistance is basically deserters if anything

    Something that breaks my immersion into these movies is how the First Order is supposed to be this faction that rose from what was left of the already defeated empire, didn’t control any significant portions of the galaxy and just had their biggest base destroyed seemingly has an endless supply of resources and continuously bigger ships. At least with the empire it was established that they were the ruling power of the galaxy.

    and then to make the entire sequel trilogy even more ridiculous, the final order appear unbeknown to everyone including the first order and have even more resources and ships (all equipped with planet killing tech which makes the star killer base a giant waste of time) and turns out they've built all this giant fleet with millions of soldiers on a desolate and empty planet in the unknown regions...

    @@Killerkwoi13 How was Palpatin even paying or feeding all those soldiers?! Just imagine the hundred thousand of tons of food you need to maintain such a fleet. And where did he get all those credits to pay for what is basically the biggest fleet in the history of the Galaxy?

    @@bobuscesar2534 He's literally the physical embodiment of the senate (and in a less humorous sense, he's both a veteran political leader and the dark side incarnate), if anyone can feed and pay for those soldiers it's him. Though given that there were Sith Cultists, and Pryde was just that loyal from his days in the Empire, maybe his biggest problems would have been feeding and... hiding his ships... under, uh... rocks? Quite the engineering feat, I must say, to somehow stick the ships under the rocks so that the only way they could rise was through the surface, and yet the surface of the planet seemed completely undisturbed.

  • @bobuscesar2534

    @bobuscesar2534

    @@theguywithsomething8634 Palpatin had to bankrupt the Banking Clan to pay for the clone army. The problem is not only money but who build those ships?! And how did noone notice the millions of ship builders disappearing for a few decades? At this point Palpatin has built so much infrastructure that I don't see any reason why he should try to take back the Galaxy. Since most of the people seem to be living with him under his rock, there really is no reason.

    I think I have a guess why it was “base, transports, fleet” in that order. Hux never struck me as a brilliant tactician like Thrawn, Piett, or even Veers. To me Hux seems like a sadistic officer who wants to make the leaders of the Resistance suffer before he kills them. I’d like to think he’s doing this because this does take place shortly after the Resistance destroy Starkiller base. In fact I’ll try to use logic and reasoning: • Destroy the base: cause the Resistance to scramble to their fighters and transports, leaving everything behind. Supplies, munitions, and weapons are now destroyed. No engagement from the enemy. • Destroy the transports: every transport destroyed means less Resistance fighters to battle later. Transports are unarmed, so no engagement from them. • Destroy the fleet: it doesn’t matter where the fleet runs off to because the First Order could track them through hyperspace. There will be an engagement but destroying the base and transports will have weakened their fighting capabilities.

    If the dreadnought hits the Raddus first he not only takes out their major means of escape but also the majority of resistance leadership (who was on board at the time and he would likely know that, Raddus being a capitol ship and all) creating confusion and disorder among resistance ranks. After which he aims for the transports and support ships with tie fighters (and maybe the dreadnoughts guns) annihilating the fleet and preventing further escape, if that's even possible with their low fuel amount, some transports may even run back to the planet for safety. You can literally leave the base for last since it's not like it's going anywhere.

    One thing I loved about the the First Order compared to The Empire is that they seemed more........brutal and fanatic sure The Empire was imposing yes they built the Star Destroyer and subjugated entire systems but the First Order has this different Zealotry to it that The Empire doesn’t instead of showing up with one star destroyer to control a planet they would show up with 3 or 4 instead of building dozens of small ships they built one massive gunship that outclasses everything they and the rebels have Poe even says “These things are fleet killers!” This ship is clearly worth what 10 star destroyers? It’s like the First Order is a more untamed and Raw version of The Empire like they took only the Fanaticism,dominating qualities for power and oppression, need to cause fear, and Raw destruction that they leave in there wake i mean under the empire many planets did improve even if it was a forced improvement it was still improved while the First Order seems like they would just claim the planet and kill everyone not caring if there was anyone left to rule..... Too bad they ruined all that in the rest of the of this movie and the sequels......

    The fact the Final Order retrofitted only Star Destroyers with planet-killing lasers makes me believe they blew up the only Dreadnought in the entire galaxy lmao

    Officer: Sir, the star destroyers are prepared for engaging the resistance- Hugs: No, the dreadnought is all that is needed to destroy them all. Officer: But sir, we have all the resources we need to effectively wipe out all of them. Why do we have to be reliant on sheer size of power? Hugs: Because it makes us look cooler and menacing.
