Why hasn't anyone tried to recreate this giant hunk of craftsmanship? It's a shame that not one exist today that I am aware of. And if there are, why isn't there any more information or videos on this gem? If I had the money, I would definitely have a ground-up Recreation of this bus exactly the way it was.

Because it was purely experimental and it did in fact evolve into the PD-4501 which still runs the roads today often in private or museum ownership.

@@Wingnut353 Yes I am aware that the GX-1 was simply a prototype and would later evolve to the PD-4501. My question is why hasn't anyone attempted an exact replica and reconstruction of this significantly historical bus? Of course I understand that budget is the most likely cause and is always one of those things that being a bus enthusiast consist having a lot of. Just thought that somewhere out there a bus enthusiast or club would have taken on this challenge. Not only because of its historical significance ,but because of how very unique and cool the GX-1 is.

That bus looks almost modern. Some trim changes and it would look like a 2020 bus.

Thanks for sharing! I read that this bus was scrapped back in the 50's :( That is the thing a bout making history, you rarely realize that is what you are doing while you are doing it.

The story is that it was dismantled/scrapped in the mid-50s. However, no evidence or photos of that has yet emerged. See the full GX-1 story (to date!) in the book at www.scenicruising.com.

Hello, is there any way you can include sound of the engines on your video. We can always hear the music, but not the music these beautiful buses make. Thank you.

Not likely. These clips were "home movies" most likely shot with 8mm color home movie film then transferred to video. In the early-mid 1950s, when this film was originally made, standard 8mm movie film did not have a provision for sound tracks. There were no cameras capable of it and no projectors to show it until the 1960s. Even then when sound was available it was rare to see (or hear) as the cameras, projectors, film, and processing was far more expensive. All that said... if he did include the sound of engines it would not be the sound of "the engines" as there was no recording of the engines at the time the film was made. It would have to be some "engine sounds" and it would definitely be out of sync with the film.

I would love to! But this is from an old film from the 1940s which did not have sound.

Ed, I've never seen an interior photo, but every drawing, sketch, diagram and artists rendition of the interior, I put in the book in the chapter on the GX-1. www.scenicruising.com
