Make the injector harness wires longer to move the connector from behind the intake horn. Or GregA delete the connetor and hard wire it, but that makes further upgrades difficult.

I tossed a bag of rags through it they all went right through and hit the ceiling , I grabbed a shop clipboard It ate that aswell , needless to say the motor self destructed , I was like 20 at the time & that was amazing to see while working with my dad

greg, just cut the wire harness at the valve cover, and re-sauder the connector back on with longer wires. wire loom of course like you always do, and no one will notice. don't change all those parts on account of the connector being in the way.

See if you can run it at the back of the intake horn and point the plug to the back of the truck. If the wires reach the injector plugs see if you can pull some of the injector harness wires out of the main harness so it's farther back and you can move it up back there.

Same ideea i had put as the best ideea somewhere on a project, just cutoff the base connector socket and seal with epoxy and a small aluminium plate embeded with epoxy so stays strong yet durable during different temperatures extremes, then simply drill a hole away from the intake tube for the wires then seal with epoxy,if needed and the wires are too short, cut the wires, put a heatshrink sleeve and add a piece of wire then solder, seal the drilled hole where the wires passing though outside the case toward the connector with epoxy in same time glueing the socket on the hole, and there you go,nothing into the way of that big golden intake tube, anhour of labor but does the tick very well and durable, hoping no bigger problems occur forward...

I believe a few people mentioned it but I would rotate the connector to a virtical position(90° clockwise). Make the male end of the connector come from behind the intake horn and plug straight down into the female end. May not look as clean but still give a decently clean appearence. Only problem is A) will it actually fit? And B) how will you secure the connector in/to the rocker box after rotating it 90°?

Hey Greg, I hooked up a manual choke cable from inside the cab to the manual fuel cut off lever on the side of the pump. Works great on runaway just pull and shuts it off. Also a good anti-theft device. Napa stocks a good heavy duty choke cable. Also I have problem blowing out the fuel solenoid, keeping Geno's busy. I'm going to just plug it and use the choke gable for off and on.

  • @andrewbartleman9169

Bill Hillenbrand but you still are only pulling against the spring. When it's over fueling like in a run away situation that governor spring is being over ridden. You can turn that all you want it won't kill it. Only way is to cut airflow. This is why a higher rpm governor spring let's you fuel more before run away, the spring is stronger...

I was like... huh!? sprayed more. steamed away. looked inside the car. nothing. removed the door seal with a Suspicious feeling. looked between the two factory spotwelds into the car's side. big sound deadening sponge in bright flames submerging the abs computer. that feeling and the adrenaline. holy shit I never hosed my car down like that.😂

For the intake horn, buy a 12 Valve I take plate , and make your own horn. It will end up looking like a 5.9 horn but instead of using the whole plate cut it down to just the intake horn hole and one solid plate. Should be 6 bolts total and bend up some pipe to weld on to that.

That truck running away was a bit scary. I'm glad you had the wood or that first gen would of been junked. Good work though Greg.

For runaway control, have a CO2 extinguisher handy to shoot into the intake. Snuffs it out with no damage. Can start it right back up. Fanshawe Motive Power has a video about it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qXajza59fcqeqMY.html It's right near the end of the video.

Grind down the intake horn 🤷🏻‍♂️ if there’s enough room without cutting threw and then, back to powder coat
