The First Battle of Marvie with the 327th Glider Infantry Regiment | The Siege of Bastogne
The Battle of Bastogne is perhaps one of the most famous battle of the Second World War in the West. Nevertheless, it is often overshadowed by the actions of the 506th PIR, or the breaking of the Siege by Patton. In this video, we will take a look at a small unit action which equally highlights the staunch defence put up by the Screaming Eagles and which can equally serve as a way in which the Siege and defence of Bastogne can be explained. In this first part, we will take a look at how the 2nd battalion, 327th Glider Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division defended the village of Marvie on 20 December 1944 during the opening stages of the Panzer Lehr Division’s assault on Bastogne.

I also am very glad your back. Your detailed small unit actions are very informative and entertaining.
Great episode. I’d be interested in a dive into actions around St Vith during the Bulge.
Great episode Ace. I'm looking forward to the next installments of this series.

I am sure that he did one on St Vith not so long ago.
Tolles Video. Geschichte zum Anfassen auf höchstem Niveau. Freue mich auf den nächsten Teil.
I served in the 1/327th Inf Regt in the 80’s, thanks for covering this.
Thanks for your films. They are great & greatly necessary to tell the whole history. As you rightly say, the Bastogne battles are overshadowed by the ‘band of brothers’ with caused great neglect of the study of the many other, equally decisive battles. The history of the 506 PIR has become the equal of the ‘Big Mac’ as the story of the Screaming Eagles is the McDonalds of Battle of the Bulge chronicle. Your contribution however is 3 star restaurant in comparaison. You showcase the history even that most Americans have forgotten or never knew about.. Keep it up. Great work.
Excellent and clear appraisal as always, Ace. Thank you.
Thanks again Ace, I look forward to your next episode here.

Welcome back, but is O-Ha-Ra not O-Hair
What about the US Army Rangers at Bastogne? My Uncle, a Ranger officer, fought at Bastogne and yet the Rangers are never mentioned.
