Not quite. The first superhero film ever made was Judex, a silent 12 chapter french serial from 1916. Judex (which is Latin for "Judge") is thought to be the heroic version of the french comic character, "Fantomas" and has been said to have inspired The Shadow and Batman. A sequel called Judex's New Mission was released in 1918 and two remakes were released in 1934 and 1963. But even if Judex hadn't come first in a film, Zorro, The Lone Ranger, The Green Hornet, Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Tarzan, The Shadow, Mandrake The Magician, The Copperhead from The Mysterious Doctor Satan and The Spider all beat Captain Marvel to the screen.

I don’t think Don Johnson or Carol Wayne ever played the characters by the names that are given .

Remember that one actor from Slapshot named Paul D'Amato? Marvel missed an opportunity to make a retro live-action Wolverine with him playing the role. Imagine him doing a fight scene with Lou Ferrigno's Hulk.

The first actor to play Superman was Ray Middleton at the New York World’s Fair in 1940. This video, though, just covers live action. If radio and animation were included, some results would be different.

There was a Batgirl pilot made in September 1967, where Batgirl, Batman and Robin fight Killer Moth, just like in her first comic book appearance (Barbara Gordon version) in Detective Comics #359 (January 1967). It was made around the same time as the 1967 Wonder Woman pilot.

Spidey Super Stories ran for 29 episodes on The Electric Company from 1974 to 1977. Peter Pan Records released a Spidey Super Stories record album in the 70s featuring voices from the cast of The Electric Company. Spidey was not voiced by Danny Seagren on the record album as his Spider-Man only communicated using thought bubbles on the show so his voice was provided by Jim Boyd who played Blue Beetle (not that one) on The Electric Company. Skip Hinnant voiced his Fargo North Decoder character from The Electric Company on the album and he was also the voice of Fritz The Cat in that 1972 movie and it's sequel, The 9 Lives Of Fritz The Cat (1974).

The Batman Movie that included Lee Meriwether was produced AFTER the first (half) season of Batman in early 1966. Julie Newmar played the Catwoman in the episode entitled "The Purr-fect Crime," which aired March 16, 1966, well before the movie was released.

I don’t believe Yvonne Craig played Batgirl until much later in the 60’s. The show did not air until 66 or 67.

None of the actors from Justice League Of America (1997) except for David Ogden Stiers as Martian Manhunter and Michelle Hurd as Fire /Green Fury / Green Flame were the first to play the characters in live action. The first live action Flash, Green Lantern and Atom were played by Rod Hasse, Howard Murphy and Alfie Wise from Legends Of The Superheroes (1979). So far, Kimberly Oja is the only actress to play Ice / Icemaiden in live action, although technically, Matthew Settle is the first Guy Gardner Green Lantern in live action.

Billy Zane was the fifth of 6 actors to play The Phantom in 1996. The first was Tom Tyler in The Phantom (1943). A sequel started filming in 1955 starring John Hart (who replaced Clayton Moore as The Lone Ranger for one season) after Tom Tyler died in 1954. But Columbia Pictures had lost the rights to The Phantom so they were forced to cut out all references to The Phantom and give him a slight costume change and call the serial The Adventures Of Captain Africa but they still used stock footage of Tom as The Phantom in some scenes. Next, there was a 1961 TV pilot of The Phantom starring Roger Creed and Lon Chaney Jr. (The Wolf Man 1941). Then, comedian Paul Hogan played The Phantom in a skit on his TV series in the 70s. There was a lot of Phantom merchandise like comic books and t-shirts seen on the show as The Phantom was very popular in Australia. And lastly, Ryan Carnes played The Phantom in the 2009 mini-series that aired on the Syfy Channel in 2010. The Phantom has also been seen in animation first on ABC-TV's Saturday Superstar Movie in 1972 in the episode, Popeye Meets The Man Who Hated Laughter along with other King Features Syndicate characters including the unofficial first appearance of The Defenders Of The Earth (Flash Gordon, Mandrake The Magician and Lothar) before they got their actual series in 1986. Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman) was in the same movie with Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Bane (Jeep Swenson) and Jason Woodrue - The Floronic Man (John Glover) along with Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone). Harvey Dent is Two-Face. Billy Dee Williams played Harvey Dent in Batman 1989 before he would have become Two-Face but they recasted him with Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever (1995) after he became Two-Face and teamed up with The Riddler (Jim Carrey). @@andrewweisneck1102 him playing Batman is like if they had anyone else play Deadpool. I think Ryan Reynolds is the only person that could play him . Maybe Jim Carry , but for some reason I feel RR is the better choice .

@rogersepeda4378 I didn't mind him as Green Lantern either, I just wish the costume was more like the comics so you could see the ring better and I would have liked to see him fight Sinestro. But yeah Ryan Reynolds is great as Deadpool except in X-Men Origins: Wolverine because he can't be The Merc With A Mouth if his mouth is sewed shut.

Someone clear this up for me. Who was the first to play Catwoman- Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt, or Lee Meriwether?

Julie Newmar was the first to have played Catwoman and also the longest at 12 episodes. Lee Merriwether only played Catwoman in the 1966 movie due to Julie being unavailable. Eartha Kitt only played Catwoman in 3 episodes of the third season, two of them accompanied by The Joker due to Julie filming McKenna's Gold. Julie probably would have returned if Batman hadn't been cancelled or had been picked up by NBC before The Batcave had been demolished. John Astin also played The Riddler for two episodes but everyone knows Frank Gorshin is the first. It gets a little trickier with Mr. Freeze.

Tommy Lee Jones was Two-Face in 1995. Not 1989.

That's correct. Billy Dee Williams played Harvey Dent BEFORE he became Two-Face in 1989. Tommy Lee Jones played Harvey Dent AFTER he became Two-Face in 1995. Billy Dee Williams played Harvey Dent again AFTER he became Two-Face in The Lego Batman Movie in 2017.

Keye Luke played Kato first in The Green Hornet (1940). Eartha Kitt was not the first Catwoman (although, she was the first black one), she only played Catwoman for three episodes in the third season and had to team up with The Joker in two of them.

I would argue that Two Face is wrong. Billy Dee Williams did play Harvey Dent in 1989.

The first actor who played Mr. Freeze was Otto Preminger not Arnold Schwarzenegger, unless you're just an Arnold fan and wanted to have him included in the video.

Actually the first Mr Freeze was played by George Sanders in Season 1 of "Batman".

She did in the 1940s. It was how you could tell the difference between the Earth 1 and Earth 2 Black Canaries. Also, from the Justice League episode, "Legends" which features characters based on The Justice Society Of America called The Justice Guild Of America, the character Black Siren was based on Black Canary and wore a mask.

A lot of mistakes on here.
