So this game took me a minute to beat, Legate Lanius was one of the toughest battles I took on. I couldn't beat it on normal mode because he was a pain to be so I had put it on very easy mode as that was the struggle I was having. I can play games on normally, usually and not have a problem but Lanius was just tough and my speechcraft just wasn't high enough.
