Michael Purcell I'm with Tilley Too. There is a difference between owning a pet and being a responsible pet owner. Birds, fish, even cats take little responsibility to care for. Dogs are on another level. They need structure and discipline. If you cannot provide that, you should not own a dog.

Ive done it before. I have noticed that if you wait for a few hours, they get too tired to run away and become docile as you approach with the leash. I was a horrible dog Walker but damn my clients thought that I was the best. To the dogs, I was the equivalent of a teenage babysitter. I walked them to the dog park during working hours then let them all off the leash to hump, jump, play, poop and pee on everything that they thought they could. I bought 5 tennis balls with me threw them as far as I could and waited to see which dogs would bring it back. If they did, then I threw the ball again and again until they became distracted by all the others. I "walked" 6 dogs at a time for 3 hours daily. Poor pooches were absolutely too tired to walk home when we finished so I would call my mom, load them into the minivan and we would drive them all home. 😂😂😂

Labradors are some of the most hyperactive large dog breeds if you ask me. I lived next door to one in an apartment complex with a shared balcony. One day I fell asleep with the patio door open and I woke up to my neighbors dog panting in my face. I was pregnant and shocked so I screamed but when I came to my senses, I walked his out and saw that he got into my bathrooms toilet paper supply and trash cans (every trashcan in the apartment). He turned my entire apartment into a grabage bin. There was garbage everywhere.

My dog passed away a year ago bit he was such a good dog. We took 2-3 walks a day depending on my work schedule. He hardly barked, used potty outside, non destructive. He would steal food though if you weren't looking, but he never dug in the trash or stole food off of the counter. He somehow would sneak into the snack cabinet. Still not sure how he did it.

So the rule is when she is on her bed we don't pat her.

+Eboni Love-One of my sisters takes a no nonsense policy and when there are mealtimes, the dogs are let straight outside and not let inside until all the food is cleaned up. No exceptions. No leniency. If your dog is well behaved, you don't have to go that far, but you do have to set boundaries over if they are allowed to be near the table. If they're allowed near the table, what they can and can't do. They can sit and behave. But they are not allowed to beg. And they will not be given scraps. My sister has little boys who are willing to feed the dogs and drop their food so the dogs can eat it so that's part of her reason why she keeps the dogs outside while everyone eats. But either let the kids know that dogs are not allowed to be fed leftovers under any circumstances or if you don't have kids, you just let the dogs know what their place is around the dining room.

Love to see you train a dog to use a potty. You could get them to empty it in the toilet and flush afterwards too. If you could do all that then maybe I'd feel less irritated by your judgemental pronouncements. I think they're brave to seek help and it's nice to see the happy outcome for all concerned. You obviously didn't watch properly or you'd have seen there was adjustment to the food fed too. But it seems a lot of potty people just like to criticise negatively. I thought it one of the better episodes

@@jenniferreesdavies3353 What are you talking about? Potty training a dog and potty training a person mean different things. Potty training a dog just means not going to the bathroom anywhere in the house they feel like. Potty training a human means teaching them to use a toilet. They sought out help, yes, but that means nothing when these people haven’t even tried to do any proper training for the dog beforehand. A major part of training is providing alternatives for the dog, instead of the constant “no no no”ing they were doing before. That isn’t training.

He looked longingly into the kitchen (food at the counter), then he removed himself from the entry - and the temptation. Very smart. And suprisingly obedient considering how greedy he is after food and the complete lack of training before Victoria arrived.

A wagging tail means the dog is engaged in whatever is going on...an attacking dog will wag its tail, a nervous anxious dog will wag its tail, a submissive will wag its tail! These people clearly think the dog is the problem not themselves or their lack of understanding with dogs! I personally see a dog screaming to be heard!

I had a runner. The best lesson I learned, by mistake, was to not chase her. The thrill was the chase for her. One day we had a water line burst in the house. I was running back and forth between the main valve at the street and the house due to the main valve being buried under mud, which I didn't know so I had to call someone then go and get something to dig out the mud. During one of my trips, she gets out runs down the driveway and to the street (a small subdivision, not a main road). I didn't have time to screw with her. She went about 6 feet into the street, looked back at me, saw I wasn't chasing her, put her head down, and walked back into the house. She never ran off again.

Definitely not dogs. Dogs show the most unconditional love you will ever find. They don't do things to make you unhappy. And even when they don't understand why you're unhappy, they're not happy if you are not happy. And I would really want to know why my dog would be chowing down on his poop like that because it isn't normal behavior. Despite people insisting "dogs will eat their own poop". . .they usually don't. And there's always a reason why the dog is chowing down on its own poop where (excusing mother dogs who lick and eat their puppies pee and poop to make sure the "nesting" area is well tended to) it's never pleasant. At best, your dog's bored in order to do something that extreme, and if they're really that bored, you HAVE to give them something to do. Most of the time it is because dogs are not getting the proper nutrition they need. So they chow on their own poop to overcompensate for the nutrients they don't have. If your dog suddenly starts eating its own poop, switch to a different dog food. Try to avoid dog food that has corn in its ingredients, dogs don't process corn very well (and the reason dog food uses it is just because it's cheap and not because it's good for the dog). Try to vary your dog's diet up where they get some chicken, rice, veggies, things easy on the stomach, healthy, and are absolutely delicious. And if you want to discourage them from eating their poop, do what Victoria did and feed them pineapple.

@@reeepingk Oh no, they might always have a big appetite, but a dog getting away with being an actual food thief just comes down to training. Slow feed bowls are a good idea. It's important for any owner of any breed to feed their dogs the required amount and exercise them, as to not let them get obese. Breaks my heart how many owners have obese dogs who have both their quality and quantity of life cut short.

Many Labs of either type are incredibly versatile. Many English Labs will do a passable job of fetching a bird for you. And many American Labs will do a good job of being the family pet. My Pekingese was a world class floor snurfler. I didn't mind it, I kept the kitchen swept, but she could get underfoot and I was afraid either I'd trip or I'd step on her. She was only about 8 pounds. She was taught "Kitchen!" as a command to get out of the room. She'd stay at the kitchen threshhold and watch until given the "okay" release command. She's been gone 10 years and I still miss her.
