Apparently some people hate on that game saying it ruined his character but they fail to realize that Shadow was dealing with identity crisis. In Heroes he wakes up and is immediately under attack and thus doesn't have much time to address his fragmented memory or the contemplate whether he is the original or just a copy. Given enough time he undoubtedly distance himself from the world seeing as none them were his friends from the beginning with Rouge being the closest thing to a friend but still only an associate. To claim it ruined him is short sighted. I think it added depth to his character especially if you play through all the paths and unlock the true ending
