I will be 74 years old next month .My Mother told me about Jesus first.Then we went to church.Learned quite a bit more about Jesus.Then life happened good things and bad things.Always knowing Jesus was in my heart.I have called upon Him many times in my life and He has never let me down yet.This is the only God and SAVIOUR I have known since I have arrived on this PLANET.All other stories as far as I’m concerned Can’t even come close to this one.Because this JESUS CHRIST touches my soul everyday! The stab was an act of mercy. Crucifixion took days of hanging there, bleeding, in pain, dehydrating until eventually death. It was horrific to die this way. The stab let Jesus die in a matter of hours, NOT DAYS of agonizing pain!

Christ already died and originally they would of broken his legs but the prophecy said they shall not break a single bone so moved by the hand of god when the solder came to Christ as to make sure he had passed, he pierced his heart with a spear

Indeed. You talk about being in the right place at the right time. Dismas had about 5 minutes of faith at the very end of his sorry life and went right to the front of the line. He went to heaven that day!!...so he actually got there a few days ahead of Jesus.

The man leaving his believes ,his reputation as one of highly respected solders of Rome, not just that, he was also persecuite as the enemy of Rome, traitor. Now, imagine giving up everything that defines you nowadays. For me, that is one more of thousandas stories which proofs that indeed Jesus Christ is a Son of a God. Catholic will send their prayers to Cornelius, Protestants won't. I don't need a proof, I know it in my heart but as a Catholic, I will concider to pray the Holly Spirit to give me the example of this holly man to guide me.

Some faithful ask the Saints for intercession to God on their behalf. In a similar way that Mary interceded for the wedding guests at Cana when Jesus was not ready to begin his journey. We believe that Jesus will never deny his Mother when she asks him to do something important for us during our prayers for intercession to the Lord. With Mary's intercession Jesus will certainly hear our prayers as he did during Cana. We can pray to God through the Saints. We can also do it directly, but God grants favors to the Saints who ask on our behalf. This is the dogma of the Universal Church and has been for over 2000 years.

Interestingly, the man who played the part of Longinus in Mel Gibson's the "Passion of the Christ", at one stage set had to be filmed looking up at Jesus. It was for a close up only so you saw only “Longinus” there was no person on the cross itself which was out of sight for the close up. But when he looked up while they filmed it, he actually saw Jesus who appeared on the cross at that moment to him. I forget the actor’s name.

The story of the Centurion and the transformation to Saint Longenes is a fascinating story I have learned today

Each day of life is a true miracle. Each flower, the color, the beauty, and the perfection are so precise. The birds, the colors, are so intense that it's simply awesome. God's grace, God's love is there. These exotic animals are magnificent and designed by God. Gods is with each person. He has never forsaken his creation. The miracle of life is right in front of you. Everything from the oceans to the mountains. Without the sun, the moon, the photosynthesis of trees, we could never exist. When Jesus died on that cross, it was for us. Just have the courage to look and listen. Jesus is real, and so is the gospel. May you find peace and happiness through Jesus.

Nice little story, makes you think someone interviewed him on Saturday after crucifixion. Sounds like a very busy man, the head of a century of Roman soldiers even though he had eye problems, in charge of crucifixions where it sounds like he had to everything - watch the victims closely even when it might take many days, administer the test for true death ( poke a hole under the heart to see if clear liquid comes out which shows the victim to be already dead and not coming back ) keeping accurate records of crucifixions. Being the ‘ centurion ‘ one would think he would just give orders and others of his hundred soldiers would do all the work. The other centurion that Jesus encountered explained to Him how he understood that like himself , Jesus should not have to go everywhere and do everything but give command and others take care of things.

As fascinating as these types of stories are, we have to be careful when taking things that are outside of the Bible and claiming them as true. Only the Bible can be relied on as what really happened. As for this centurion, there are other stories that contradict this one, which is why I say we have to take such things with a grain of salt.

Scripture has been translated, retranslated and retranslated again and again, not to mention the Books and gospels thrown out or argued about at the Council of Nicae. All we can do is follow the translations we have now and hope that God will overlook our interpretations and misinterpretations ( as the case may be) The last Commandment given by Jesus was to “Love one another as I have loved you”, something many of us fall short on, particularly now with the deathly battles over interpreting the nature of God. I respect the attitude of “if it’s not in the Bible, it didn’t happen”, up to a point I try that myself but don’t close your mind to the possibility that not everything that happened to Jesus was recorded or even that some jobsworth clerk at Nicae decided off his own bat to leave out anything he didn’t like about a centurion because his granny always hated those pesky Romans?

A crossbar strong enough to support the weight of a human male of the time, would have weighed about 60 to 80 pounds. This is what Jesus carried for the approximately 1/2 to 3/4 miles. For a person who had been scoured this wad an almost impossible task. This is why Simon of Chrome was pressed into service. The upright would have been already in place because it would be too labor intensive to place the upright post in a hole deep enough to support the post - it was probably set at least 4 feet deep - and then been back filled with rocks, gravel and dirt to stabilize it. Additionally, it would have taken hoist and many men to lower it into the hole if Jesus was already mailed. The weight of that post would have been about 200pounds by itself

I never understood how a human could inflict pain and suffering on another human, especially when they are bound and can't defend themselves. I believe most people are evil 😢
