Think wide: consider a variety of next moves. Not deep: ignore the possibilities of follow-up moves for each of those next moves. It is good advice and a smart saying too. Thank you for sharing that with us 😊

That's a good one...think wide (moves coming soon), not deep (long term follow-up threats/goals). I always felt in some chess matches there's a bout of overanalyzing that leads to catastrophic blunders. It pays to stop and think, even when you have...let's say, 30 seconds on the clock and you gotta bust it to not lose on time. So, a loss and a draw this time, eh, Alessia?? Get 'em next time. 😁

I sometimes watch these game recaps. And they always have so much insight and awareness of what happened, when they go through them. But I wonder, why they didn't have that when they played the game. They can go into minuet detail of what went wrong on both sides or what went right. And be like, yeah at this point I didn't see what they were doing. Even though they took minutes to look at the board before moving. I think that is what makes the champion players, is they can play, the way other players can recap their games. I seen players recap a game beautifully, and then go back in the next day and lose several games. And then do a detailed recap of what they did wrong.

At 8:33, I’d say black’s best piece is the white squared bishop, with queen in second place. Do we agree?

I’ve just seen your first game, and it was a good game and you had a tough opponent - tough because she was smart … I’ve concluded this before, but for the second time, your first game here and a game I saw yesterday both highlight the importance of being unseen or being unpredictable. So, theory knowledge is advantageous, but problematic when your opponent also knows it. The solution? It’s the same as Carlsen’s: freestyle, break away from the pattern, create a unique situation which requires original chess. In my case it is like, why even learn the theory?
