The Demon Souls Remake is the perfect example of the difference between Art style vs Graphics.

Why do so many US devs have this obsession with making things look gross?

Definitely my #1 most hated change in the remake. All subtly, all sense of menace, all gone. These are supposed to be powerful, otherworldly beings; not diseased, obese, gas bags.

Some people actually want Bluepoint to remake Bloodborne. Makes me sick.

Remake guy doesn't even look like he's having fun.

In general, the remake version is not "bad", but they completely missed the point. The change is too radical and fails to recreate the original "creepyness" and it's not even thematically appropriate.

Changing allants organ boss theme into an orchestra theme is like turning gwyns boss theme into a orchestra theme. Less is more and bluepoint missed the point

In the OG Demon's Souls, the Fat Officals are depicted as wealthy and corrupt from their formal attire and plump figure. They happily sit at the back of the battle with their demonic wealth while others die. They are powerful and menacing both in appearance and combat prowess. Meeting them in 2-1 will likely make them one of the most deadly foes you've faced to that point, even outclassing some Demon's like Phalanx in challenge.

As someone who’s played neither version, all I can say is what on earth happened here? It’s so blatantly obvious the original fat official wasn’t supposed sad and pathetic like the new one.

Going off those interviews with Miyazaki it's safe to say that if Bluepoint had pushed their designs onto his desk he would have told them to take a hike and re do it.

The sadistic glee, the rictus grin that blurred the line between face and mask, the thematic embodiment of corruption swapped out for gross gas bags. Why?

When Night Dive did their System Shock remake they hired the original artist Robb Waters to update the designs. As a result the remake looks modern but maintains the spirit of the original.

I'm really glad a contract still held for this to only be on a Ps5, because I genuinely hope they don't make good money from the remake and learn their lesson in changing the art designs.

The moment you zoom in on anything in the remake you learn how hard they missed the point of almost everything
