Amazing video, I can definitely see this becoming an incredibly popular series. There's definitely a missing niche in the Genshin community for translated English takes on CN content akin to Mr. Pokke's channel for HSR.

You should keep this up. It's a nice content and different from what we have here on our side.

One small insight about the Childe vs Furina comparison is also that depending on the lineups he can perform better in normal clears or speedruns even when you bring him on-field. Although the speedruns here were in 2nd half, I was comparing my Neuvilette, Kazuha/Jean, Zhongli, Furina/Childe team in 1st half and got significantly faster times with Childe. You can vape his burst on 12-1 1st wave to save Neuvilette cooldowns, 3rd wave you can break Lector shield faster by forcing him to move towards one of the breacher Primus with Kazuha plus his own shield-up animation, and then use Childe riptides+Hydro kazuha burst to decimate the shield in like 10 seconds. Also in 12-3 Neuvilette can do the dmg part of Lectors and then childe can Riptide kill their shields. I cleared around 10-15 seconds faster with Childe over Furina

Ive been playing for 2 years and have always been interested in TC and stuff and tried building optimally but never really found how to get into speedruns. Id also like a bit more focus on lower cost brackets, since I think thats representing most of the players and showing that speedruns arent only for whales :D

These sort of practical analyses are the reason why I subscribed to you. Excellent video! And I would love to see more like these in the future. On a side note, I just watched a video today stating that national(particularly Sucrose variant) is no longer a worthy investment in contrast to investing in 5 star DPSes like Al-Haitham, Hu Tao, Neuvillete etc. so seeing the team topping the 4-cost department is very comical to me.

Great video! Please more of this! I don't really speed run I just try to do what I want faster. I took my c6 r5 ayaka, c2 r3 shenhe, c6 r1 furina, and c6 r5 fav Jean thru second half in 62 seconds. All I did was proper rotations for once lol. I like taking ayaka against that stupid cryo resist boss and crushing it. I played furina like a normal furina no c6 usage.

I like this video and would looking forward if you make another one covering similar tourney. Echoing what already said in other comments, the result really put into perspective how good hoyo is at balancing and avoiding powercreep. Im glad that while 3.0 made the floor of abyss clear accessible, the ceiling is also still available for majority of player because of how good the core of national is. Also i love lyney and really happy he sweeped at high cost ❤ Question is there similar tourney for top half? I want to know how good nilou is at this kind of stuff.

I tried Eula, furina, baal, mika. My eula is c3 but even ignoring her burst, her autos are now buffed insanely high. I think she hits upto 50k on primogeovishap and 65k on masanori with auto attacks. This would be even higher with tenacity cause my furina is still on golden troupe. Another thing that is also worth noting, is that with furina, baal is better on an atk goblet and if you include all the damage and attack buffs, her off field skill procs actually do decent sub dps now. I haven't tried the bennet, fischl variation (c6 bennet and don't have a build with high enough er to replace baal) but just by using genshin optimizer, it is in fact eula's strongest team personal damage-wise. Optimizer now puts her autos at 70k lol. Overrall though, yeah furina is definitely a great addition for eula teams

that won't usually happen in a wider event like this. however your best bet is to wait for character specific cups, which can sometimes happen with 4 star characters.

I haven't tried that team in particular, but I'm having a lot of success with Eula/Mika/Rosaria/Furina. Superconduct is great but having three cryo characters helps with ER requirements, and Rosaria in particular provides good buffs, good cryo app for resonance and some res shred, while doing a decent amount of damage DURING your Eula combo, and not after, like Raiden.

there are sometimes competitions with unlimited cost aka any builds

VV vape has consistently been faster than Xingqiu+Yelan in Hu Tao speedruns, so no surprise that Furina couldn't close the gap. Especially with her long animations and backloaded buff. In 2 side runs, double hydro has sometimes appeared because the other side monopolized Bennett+Kazuha. It'll be interesting to see if Furina Tao will show up in those situations.

So HuTao appears twice in this table, and her 8 cost run is slower than the 4 cost with the same team (50s vs 49s but still). Kinda funny, hope she'll find a better investment team one day, maybe with Furina and smb.

Can you explain why speedrunners use the furina heal combo technique?

Right now I run hutoa with xq Mona and diona and it kinda just sucks my crit rate also sucks it’s like 50 percent. I wonder if I should use MH artifact set and run her with bennet and sucrose instead

exactly what we need, too many “crafters” rely too much on numbers on paper but don’t actually play the game (like the yelan/xq hydro app isnt enough for hutao people)

Klee is very underrated, I got some runs with her which managed to be faster than my c2 r1 raiden...

there is no strongest team. it always depends on the abyss cycle, the players account and investment level. also some people are interested in the most comfy teams, others most consistent, others highest ceiling. everyone plays the game differently. no one rule fits all. 😅

this is true, though i feel there probably is, people just don't want to fight too much. like say u had single target enemy, aoe , then aoe spread, withall the same resistances surely u could figure out who does the most dps in each category. @@jamiekb9v

So was the reason there was no dendro focused teams (in particular the giga chad alhaitham teams) used due to the fact that the dendro chicken would of slowed the run? The same way the coppelia boss would fuck up a wanderer run? I’m genuinely curious. I didn’t expect to see no alhaitham here.

Kinda, the dendro chicken does make it more difficult for them. but also most dendro teams were never the greatest at speedrunning even in the low cost brackets. And surprisingly, maybe half the time alhaitham's speedrunning teams are nilou bloom teams. like alhaitham nilou xingqiu kirara/yaoyao. You can see that team get some solid speedruns in previous abyss cycles. His hyperbloom and spread teams are good but not always seen

@@whatever3912 Tighnari isn't very good in speedrun at early cons. He's great at C6 for whales speedrun when there is dendro buffs, even better than C6 Alhaitham (need C6 Yae, and C6 Nahida though) however new Fontaine characters have even more broken C6 cons. C6R5 Lyney for example broke records for the second half speedrun, being even faster than C6R5 Yelan

do artifacts really make that much of a difference? My Sucrose National Xiangling borrowing Staff of Homa, which I assume is rather comparable to R5 Wavebreaker, still does half the damage of the Xiangling in the background footage.

artifact substats make a substantial difference yes, but also make sure you are copying the same setup and buffs like instructor on bennett and noblesse on xingqiu

​@@jamiekb9v Same setup, Instructor+Noblesse+TTDS, I'm peaking at 75K though so not quite double damage. I only have a 608 weapon on Bennett though, and no beneficial card either for ASIMON, so after a bit more thought, I can imagine that adding 35K per Pyronado. Still impressed by their Xiangling regardless, and great vid too!

It annoys me that I have access to everything in these videos... except for the artifacts! Seriously, is there a way to consistently get high quality artifacts? I'm so tired of my numbers being so scuffed next to everyone else's.

isn't a big part of cost brackets to see where placing your 5* pulls has the most value for speedrunning at the various cost benchmarks? Like surely that 5* cost is yours to spend how you like, and with that in mind, I don't see why putting all your cost in one character instead of spreading it around is unfair and should be against the rules. I'm interested and open to hearing why that shouldn't be allowed though. edit: i see you mention we shouldn't compare teams within the same cost bracket necessarily for worth/effectiveness and moreso just for people to optimise their own characters, so that even further makes me wonder why vertical investment in this way shouldn't be considered for 8-cost bracket?

its just a common rule where most cups set restrictions on high cons. Usually its c2-c3 max for mid cost brackets. Main issue is, especially with modern characters, their c6's just have no balance at all. So it kind of just ruins the fun of optimising strats, and many ppl just give up. But you're right theres definitely nothing wrong with doing that with your own accounts, it's just something with cups having restrictions.

@@jamiekb9v There could still be some positives to allowing c6 5 stars in the 8 cost bracket. It allows players of horizontally and vertically invested hypercarries to compete, e.g. c2r1 Wanderers from the 4 cost bracket and c6r1 Wanderers from unlimited can be modified for 8 cost criteria. Bringing c6 5 star prevents one from bringing c2 Kazuha, Nahida, Furina, etc. So the c2 "archon-level" supports can be pitted against modern 6th constellations. Not for pvp, but to get a fuller picture of how the various investment routes for newer characters compare over several abyss cycles. E.g. they say Alhaitham/Cyno's best early cons are Nahida's c2 rather than their own, but what about for x or y character? Now if the fairness of allowing "busted" c6's is an issue, then that is an enduring issue of pvp tiering and ban lists. Some characters value their high constellations far less than others. It's fairer to tournament goers but the restriction conflicts with the goal of discovering how to optimise characters, especially if those characters seem to ambiguously favour both the c6 and team-wide investment routes. I don't think there's an easy solution that doesn't end up penalising one character over another, so maybe they should just let them compete in parallel for the curiosity anyway with them not sharing prize pools with the non c6. But I would be glad to see more participants entering from the lower and higher brackets regardless.

One point of contention I’ve always had with speed run competitions is that 4star constellations don’t count to the cost of a team. The power level gap between a c0 XinQ and C6 or C0 xiangling and C4 is massive; And treating them as free because “you’ll get them eventually” is just a gross overstatement. You can’t guarantee a 4 star off a banner, and if you are guaranteeing them with star glitter, those are pulls that could have gone towards pity. There’s an opportunity cost to everything in Genshin and treating high con 4stars as having 0 cost seems very disingenuous (and pretty unfair for any newer accounts trying to speed run since they are far more likely to have C0 5stars than C6 4 stars).

You can't baby new accounts in any other aspect like gear, resources, or (more recently relevant ) temp weapons like Festering they're just ready for speed runs when they're ready. Why are 4* cons different when most of the relevant ones have been collected passively?

I actually don't think it fair to consider 4 stars cons as zero cost. We know statistically: To get one specific of three 4 stars on a banner to constellation 6: 252 wishes on average (107-485 range) To get all three of the 4 stars on the banner to c6: 334 (221-537) To get a limited 5 star -> 94 on average (or 93.480561 if you want more accuracy xD. I have a Python script for this) Even if you account for the fact that over the last three years you could have bought 2 cons and get 1 cons for free, you are still looking at getting the remaining for 4 at an average of 144 pulls (per character). Some 4 star weapons featured are also gacha locked, so only farmables would be zero cost. In fact, I'd argue that the whole "cost system" should be improved. I will leave the link to the probability chart in the reply below (since you will have to review it before approving the comment)

I like to consider the current general cost systems are just a pretty good working model that allows players to get on with it and start speedrunning. Sure, there's definitely room for future improvement. But ultimately, there's no way to please everyone and make a perfect system. This is all unofficial user generated content anyway 😅

@@jamiekb9v Certainly, it is impossible to define a universal good standard (just like the word "meta" in Genshin xD) though I think "reasonability" is something that I would be looking for in any system or at least something with clear caveats. You said it yourself, it is gonna be unrealistic to expect most people to have these level of artifacts which does imply a time and cost factor (for example, whilst the second halves have a defined cost, I saw a lot of those speedruns that have more whaled out units/gear on the first half - implying some of these account burn more resin for artifacts).

If you try to actually account for the cost of a team’s 4* items it gets really complex. Take a team like Raiden hyper. Yes C6 Sara in a vacuum is a significant cost, but in actuality the people running Raiden hyper in this contest got the C6 Sara more or less for free as an add-on bonus to rolling their C3 Raiden. So if you really wanna be granular about the true cost of teams, that means you have to acknowledge that those 8 cost Raiden hyper teams are actually less expensive than many teams that are thrown into the 4 cost bracket. A similar phenomenon exists with Wanderer hyper teams and Faruzan. But then what happens when you start considering 4*s who aren’t married to a specific 5* character, but for lack of a better phrase get around? Did someone roll their C6 Xingqiu on the same banner as their Yelan and Hu Tao copies, thus getting him essentially for free? Or did they build him up separately in a way which is equivalent to rolling another ~C2 5* unit? That’s why I think while there are certainly issues with the current cost system, changing it to naively account for 4* items doesn’t really get rid of those issues, it just hides them in a harder to see place.

For 4 star units I think I have to disagree, as I've never pulled for any 4 star yet I have most pre-fontaine c6 easily. But for weapons.... an r5 xiphos or wavebreaker is at minimum as expensive as a 5 star weapon.

I'd be interested what is going on this rotation, or in this case vs some possible previous ones that makes National so good again. Reason i say this is i follow this stuff too and around this time last year national had appeared to have fallen off hard. Actually just vape in general appeared to have trouble keeping up with the wacky hyperbloom stuff they were doing at the time which i believe should of at least fallen into 4 cost comparisons. I feel like im missing something

hmmm sucrose national has always dominated 4 cost cups. If i remember correctly, hyperbloom teams were scoring high was version 3.6-3.7 alhaitham release abysses where they had the 4 ruin guard multiwave and asimon. But outside of that period I can't remember them being used much in speedrunning.

​@@davezen5100 both ways probably yes, but im also still thinking im missing something. i have trouble imagining everyone instantly forgot how to play national when dendro came out, same thing for hu tao vv vape, and then took a year to relearn it. Like was said it may just be a case of comparing play and artifacts more then teams, and maybe the vaporize guys just finally got the good stuff, but i make that presumption without knowing much about Loki or how long that account has been as strong as it is.

My biggest "gripe" with speedrun tournaments is their cost evaluation system. While I understand that no simple system can fairly evaluate how far a team is from their baseline and the nuances that go into that, I firmly believe in one thing in particular: C0 copies of 5* characters should not count as cost. Speedrunning is inherently an endgame, dedicated player kind of thing, so I don't think a player should already be "punished" for the very identity of the team they run. Weapons, and 5* constellations are what cost should focus on. The other thing is abyss cards. While obviously impactful to a run, I definitely don't think a single crit card, which (unless math is horribly wrong) provides anywhere from a 10-11% boost, should be labeled as 1 whole cost point, especially when compared to the likes of constellations such as Neuvi C1.

A crit card is a huge deal for teams that have multiple dps on the team. You are not just getting crit for one character but the entire team and crit buffs are rare. It does depend on the team though. For a Raiden, Jean, Yelan, Furina team it is amazing but for a hypercarry it is not much. I think .5 would be more fair.
