@@FeederCountry it had a 121, challenger 2" with 2" studs. It was OK on the trails, loved riding it on frozen lake's. It was terrible off trail. Turned into a submarine in deep snow ❄. Spring snow was the best for that particular machine. It was the first sled that I broke my back on back in February of 2000. It was crazy fast after the engine work, it was fun stock. But WAY fast afterwards. SLP cylinder head's with hi compression pistons, or dial a dome heads with race ⛽ gas. You'll be king of the lake's with either these combinations. I would walk away from Tcat's or anyone else who thought they were fast....lol find ANYWHERE you can to drop weight! It sounds silly but I even sanded down the inside of my hood to get ounces off the front-end. The tripple sleds like nitrous, and always wanted to turbo one! But by the time turbo kit's were affordable, you could build a big twin with 30-40lbs lighter on the front-end...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠 oh and a pink spring with a purple stripe, or a purple spring. My memory isn't the best! I keep remembering stuff so I'll keep adding to this comment. Upgrade the secondary with a cat roller, or a team industries secondary.

@@FeederCountry it was a ripper for sure! I used the same primary clutch set up on all my Polaris tripple's. When I wrecked that storm, I was impaled spine first on the top of a post from a buckrail fence, spine first. Always wear a chest and back/spine protector, trust me! Broke L3,4,5,6, bruised my kidneys and spleen, broke the transverse processes off my spine, and pinched my sciatic nerve. Not fun..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠 and yes I have a L6, some only have a L5, I'm tall but don't know if that's why.

If you are going to drag the sled, I highly recommend going with less of a paddle track and put the picks to it. Had it 118mph across Moosehead Lake in Maine. It was a windy night and it almost came off the ground like an airplane. The entire front end came off the ground. Fun! Good luck with your Storm. They are a real Beast! Here in the flatland and twisties, the Storm was a field and lake runner. They're boat anchors though, but the speedometers were way off. So there was always some jackass at the bar yapping up his Storm. I'd really like to find a nice unmolested triple 121, just to hear it. BTW, been running roller secondaries for some time. But, I had a black anodized helix I bought years ago for a late 90's XCSP. The ramp angles were stamped on the side, toward the bottom. I can't remember the company after 20 odd years, but they were legit and the slick buttons were a must. You might be able to roll the clutch to see if it matches the helix. Either way, those numbers sounded like Mountains. The gears are also likely different than a 121.

I didn't have a hitch but probably should have put one on. The previous owner put USI skis on. It floated over foot deep snow. One issue I had at 80-90mph and letting off the throttle the rear wanted to push left or right. This sled was tons of fun. It is heavy. The reverse I put on it was a lifesaver if I needed to turn around on the trail. Tug Hill through Old Forge NY. NEPA Snot trails in Forest City.

@@3DProductions Can't say I completely agree. The old lead sleds still have a faster chassis than todays ditch banging monsters. Tall, over all ride heights, 15" of suspension travel and 1.5" track profiles have the awful side effect of power robbing drag. Todays muscle will destroy those old dinosaurs in the acceleration department, but you just can't beat those old school trailing arm sleds and high RPM triples for top speed running...especially when you leg them out beyond 2,000ft and start getting into the improver, and open mod classes. At least as far as two strokes go. The 4-stroke turbo's are just a whole other level. They simply overcome all of that added drag with raw power.

The 2003 800 XCR in the Hybrid chassis was the fastest sled I've ridden. Faster than the Thunderputtytat and Mach Z, and Storm. I have the exact same sled except it was a drag sled in the 90's so the ass end was touted up and the nose was on the ground, but a set of AAEN pipes on it, different clutch setup with more of a trail setup on it now is hell of a lot of fun! Great sounding sleds and as much as people like to rag on me for riding an old xlt, it really has no problem keeping up with these newer sleds, and it'll pass most anything that's 700cc or below.

The sport was still affordable, you could still have a beer or two on the side of the trail without going to jail and things hadn't gotten so commercialized. FYI, the XCR 800 was faster than the Storm. Though it sure was a cool name!

My first outing was my last.... I'm not sure what was done to my sled but my elbows and knees couldn't handle the G forces....in a straight line it absolutely rocks... But cornering is off the charts. ... If you have never riden a high performance sled..... Then you haven't lived ....... .....I'm not a technical person but whatever the crew at St Aubin polaris in Dryden Ontario Canada did to her...but after only 400km I brought it back and said. ...I'm sorry...but it's to much for me.... Seriously.....0- 100kph in under 4 seconds.... Especially in cornering.... It handles like a Porsche..... Full throttle while cornering.......amazing The human eye can only focus at 212kph...... While riding I found myself at point B much to quickly. ....so much faster than before it was tuned and picked..... Anybody else have the same experience
