Surprised Asafa Powell wasnt on here. Dude always lets off at 90m and sometimes it costs him😂

He couldn't run good times against good opponents, so therefore couldn't get a fast 2nd place time haha

Nice video, I like the added explanations to each race. I did the list-only version of this topic 😆

Appreciate it! Damn I'll have to check it out. I like the no commentary lists sometimes, let's you build your own opinions on the races.

I know this was technically a video about running but I'd like to submit as an honorable mention carl Lewis vs Mike Powell in the long jump. Legendary 1st and 3rd all time performances

When I saw the title, my first thought was the El Guerrouj Noah Ngeny world record mile race! That was insane! AS too was the men's 400m hurdles at eh Olympics! Imagine how loud the crowd would have been!

I think you should have look at the leaderboard from just after the race was ran rather than in present time because times from the past will be at an obvious major disadvantage because times naturally go down over time. For example, tyson gay 9.71 would have been the 3rd fastest time in history at the time (fastest for anyone not named bolt at the time). Dalilah losing time would have been the 2nd fastest in history. Personally I wouldn't have included distances like mile because it is not officially ran in the major events so the times are, in a way less, competitive. I consider the 1500m (1302) WR more impressive than the mile WR (1292 pts) by far imo. I also think going by iaaf points might be better. Because not all 2nd or 3rd on an all time list are equal: Men: (Just one performance per distance, 100m has multiple losing performance 1280 points and above for example) Lewis 8.87: 1330 (not running but what a staggering losing performance) Benjamin 46.17: 1328 Blake 19.44: 1310 pts Gay 9.71: 1308 pts Lagat 3:26.34: 1297 Crouser 22.91: 1295 (not running) Litvinov 85.74: 1292 Ngeny 3:43.40: 1288 Barshim 2.42: 1287 (not running again but still incredible) Kiplimo 57:37 : 1284 Legese 2:02:48 : 1283 Kejelcha 7:23.64: 1280 US men disqualified 4x100m losing time in 2012 london would have been included here too if not for tyson gay doping. Women: (You can thank eastern european era doping for the first 3 overinflated performances) Wyludda 74.40: 1338 Slupianek 21.74: 1317 Belevskaya 7.36: 1298 Muhammad 51.58: 1282 ETH 10.64: 1280 Chepngetich 2:15:37 : 1279 Bryzgina 48.27: 1276 Lang 3:51.34: 1276 ETH 21.66: 1274 Cheruiyot 29:32.53: 1273 Qu 8:12.18: 1272 Chebet 14:05.92: 1270

Points do make it more valid and interesting, but I don't think people outside of track would be able to follow a long as easy. But that's just imo. Thank you for the very in depth comment!
