The greedy castle was sick but it just goes to show off dauts decision making skill. He countered perfectly.

That was a really clean up from Nicov but Daut has been in rare form of late. I mean, a year ago that castle would have been the very definition of a DautCastle, but he somehow was right where he needed with right what he needed. Great to see.

The difference is a year ago he would have sent like 6 villagers to build that castle. He sent 11 this time.

Summoning Salt: in late 2022 a player by the name of Nicov posted a fast castle time on Arabia of 13:10. No one knew it at the time but this would lead to a pursuit that would dominate the speed running community for 10 years.

Honestly Daut just played this perfectly. Especially when it comes to the scouting. Really adapted to the opponent decisions and punished them. He pushed out at exactly the right time and got all the information he need to place a perfect castle. Nicov lack of scouting hurt him this game, he was just playing according to his plan he wasn't adapting to what Daut was doing..

Ever since you mentioned Veggie Tales on your stream, I now only hear Bob the Tomato when you speak and I can’t unhear it.

One of the fastest castle times ever just to get bodied.

I haven't played since the old 2000 time period of Aoe2, but after looking at this civ's perks being no building requirements for advancement and villagers don't have to carry food to the TC (no traversal time) it is no surprise the quickness of the castle age.

Amazing play, daut is something else.

Perfect counter by daut, definitely a bit of an overboom/ greed by blue. Follow that massive villager lead up with not enough military production buildings and you got yourself a gg.

3:19 Does anyone know how this setup works? Just curious on if this is a personal setup with a soundboard and a separate audio track or if it's an actual product that is made for placing markers?

I don’t know how it works with Facebook but twitch has the feature for placing markers built in. It only works with the saved copy of the broadcast on twitch though, so I’m sure there’s also third party software out there for marking your own “hard copy” saved recordings like T90 uses for KZread uploads

15:07 Am I the only one who thinks Nicov souldnt have fought this with his army? He has 6 monks behind he couldve used for converting vills building the castle THEN snipe the rest with the army, he could still lose the army but deny the castle.

I think Nicovs army was too small to be able to snip the remaining vils. Nicov had 6 knights and 6 monks. Daut had 6 Camels, 5 Knights, 2 Magonels, 3 Monks and 11 vils building the castle, even if he converted all 6 vils with the 6 monks, there is still 5 vils remaining and about 15 army vs 6 knights. its just not enough. I think he needed to stop producing vils a bit earlier and get more army.

yeah just convert the Units, not the siege, abd kill the vils with that. Maybe use 1 monk for the monk trick to deny the vils building the castle

but converting the vils is actually not the best idea. you run out of faith, loose your army, loose all the control and DauT can just send new vils

I was saying this as well, felt like forcing vills off the castle would have made daut have to go for a bad position instead of the other way around

@@Whokare Liths you really have to go for he relics though which is really hard for a noob to do. Franks is the easiest civ by far and then perhaps Teutons.

@@Cheximus I think it’s good to practice getting the relics. Also at low level you’ll probably end up with 4 or 5 and have the strongest paladins in the game. The main thing that gives them an advantage up to about 1000 Elo is how clean your dark age will be and you can actually focus on the build without force dropping much.

Quite a bit faster than this. As T90 mentioned, walling can be avoided, wood and stone can be sold, the TC can be idled instead of creating villagers. There are probably civ bonuses which would be better than Khmer's for suicide FC. Malay, Ethiopians, Saracens?

The FC was great but he was adding TCs from which he couldn't support vil production. Maybe since your opponent knows you're all eco at that point, invest into some knights until you have the food eco for 1 stable 2 TC?

Watched a vid from a couple of months ago, onto this, why has youir mic setup worsened? Too airy and quiet I think?

12:00 i did not se anything faster than this guy yet, but As one who really enjoys saracen, i've practiced FC and been able to pull it off in 13:40 WITH SARACEN "more or less" in ranked games. But saracen FC feels better than khmer because you literally buy your way through whatever it is you crucially need once you hit castle age. Some games i hit FC at such a fast time and throw down 2 extra tcs. Zero food for vills, bur guess what? We buy the food, and build farms until eco stability is achived"and a 4th+ 5th TC 2-3 mins after and then buy a defensive castle even. Khmer, on the other hand, i don't enjoy FC with them.

Anyone feel like Nicov would have been better off not forcing the engagement and trying to use monks to force vills off the castle? It’s very hard to get it built if u spam click conversions because the vills run away when the conversion starts. He could have baited the fight under the TC potentially if the monks held off the castle while sitting under it. Not saying it changes things necessarily but I was screaming for him to do that with one monk lol

Nicov's choice to go for knights was unfortunate. Once Daut started spamming camels, it was over

converting the vills instead of army would've won Nicov the game

Great game. That's how AOE used to look like 2019. Before devs butchered the meta into a pseudo aggressive Skirm wars.

It's because at the highest levels, it's less a test of thought and more on reaction time. Sadly, that leads to little variation on build orders. LEL/MEM/COM games are more natural and interesting because they are unpredictable.

@@Toonrick12 You got it backwards dude, at the highest levels they've all got insane reaction time, the difference comes in decision making and strategy. At low elo, you can wipe out a dude's whole economy before they react, the reaction time makes the difference in that case.
