It's a funeral not hanging out on the street the hat's and inappropriate dressing can go. Folks wear anything in the house of the Lord.

@MrIcetreyman Wearing a hat inside the sanctuary doesn’t desecrate the house of the Lord, but being an artificial, judgmental Christian does! Now, is it looked upon favorably, by those who were taught proper etiquette? Of course not! Will his actions throw him into the pits of hell? I don’t think so! That’s the beauty of God’s grace, it’s truly sufficient. Without it, NONE of us would be able to right some of our wrongs. Be blessed you were taught & hopefully you can pass it along…

I'm so sorry to the family and thinking of you all. It's funny how many people are quick to judge how others r dressed, but not one person bothered saying something nice. I agree that it's not the way I've taught my kids to dress, but my focus was on the tragedy of a teen murdered and his life cut so short. And even sadder is all u all arguing about this. Change your focus to the family and fight for the cause of violence to our youth. And no I'm not black.....And it doesn't even matter. It's about love, compassion, and people coming together in the midst of tragedy.

Dang shame! Folks act like they dont know how to dress for a funeral.

armand4189, if you don’t attend church, you don’t have a clue about the appropriate attire to wear to church, let alone to a funeral. The wearing of hats by men inside of the sanctuary is so disrespectful...But again, if you don’t attend church, you don’t have a clue!

Every adult man should own at least one classic suit, black dress shoes and a white button down shirt. You can go to a funeral, wedding, job interview within this outfit. Every woman should have a least one classy black dress, black hat, and Black pomps. They are all dressed badly and inappropriately. No class.

If the family was altogether & ready, but that is asking too much. If the funeral is 2:00, tell everybody to be ready by 12:00, & somebody will still be late. Thank God it wont be the star of the service.

@henimsay Nobody said wearing a hat in church desecrates the building. I said it's a sign of total dispesect, much like putting your feet on somebody's couch. How can the young people know proper etiquette when they have grow ass men, whom you'd think would know better walking in a building (let alone a church) with hats on. Those that don't find that offensive, likely haven't been taught any manners.

This is an old comment, but I need to reply here. Jesus did tell Mary Madeleine to come and worship as she was and that he who is without sin to cast the first stone. She was a harlot dressed as one, but she came to worship, listen, and to meet Jesus and the others who thought they were better then her wanted to kick her out and stone her. So Christ said any who is without sin to cast the first stone. Also, I'm not sure, but it looks like small casket. Possibly a child or young teen. It may explain why they are dressed down. It is sad that their parents hadn't taught them how to appropriately dress at a funeral and other occasions. There's a time and a place. Only accepts I've seen are like when the entire sports team wears their jerseys or something like that. But even so, the hats must be removed while inside the church. It shows respect. It's nothing to do with who is better then the other person.

Most families that are big is most likely not teaching home training, how to act or present yourself in public and they think it’s cute to have all them chillins by different baby daddies. Everything starts at home and if there’s no home training, there’s no discipline and if it’s no discipline, then there’s no respect!! NOW!! There you have the logistics of most hood families layout. Prayer is definitely in order and just maybe somebody learned something in these comments in which they didn’t learn at home. Constructive criticism doesn’t hurt nobody unless you’re easily in ya feelings. Get over it and do better as a people of color!!🙏🏾🙏🏾

@henimsay i agree. i feel that when it comes to a funeral all the stops should be pulled anyway. a person is gone, dead, forever, a family is crying, things dont matter and depression oftern sets in. let the hat thing go. let ppl greive the way they greive. some ppl come to wakes intoxicated because they cannot handle the loss. make room for greif and compassion. not ranting at YOU, just ranting.

wildwoman17 god did say come as you are,but at lease take off the base ball cap.I can understand if it's a dress hat then that's different and we are going to be put down every time because we are always fighting and putting down our own race

Many moons ago.and i.dont known..why back.years ago..People.wore hats and top.hat drees hot.in the funeral .iam.spiritual in.the spirtual.funeral every body that was s.member.of the congregation..wore white and the.paster and the peson that was deceased. And was a high.offical.in the church. They wore white and purple. Their would .be no flowers around the decesed..the.flowers would be at the door of the church..their would be a..white funnerl.pall on the casket. Two candle s burning ..one at the foot and one at the head ..the remains are open.when.the family come in and the choir would de singing.walking the light. Or how i got over. Durms .getire. Organ they jamm....when the funnerl.get started. And it time for the words. The mortition do not touch the body. The paster blesses it with holy water after he close the lid ...he another minster turn that coffin around 3.times. The feet faceing the altar..and he burn.incensed around the casket..3 .times.and the mortition dont tuch the ramians untill the precher minsters roll that body down the ilse to the door.and he be saying on his way lord have..mercy upon use and inclian our heart keep.thy laws he ring the bells around the remains.and they roll that body down the iles..and this is not .a Catholic. Funneral we are spiritual. .the church or temple is.called spiritual. And after the minister rolls the body out the matition and pall baries take over and the minister. The paster goes back in the temple and user the family out of the church and from their to the grave yard
