The Ghoul wasn’t just a Hollywood actor. He reminisces with his wife (to her dismay) about wanting to return to his life as an actual cowboy (presumably his occupation before acting) _and_ he was an army veteran that saw action in the war. Thus, he would have to be a well trained and experienced shot/fighter. In addition to that, he’s had approximately 200 years of post-apocalyptic practice to really perfect his skills.

Max remembers a bomb that happened later. It wasnt one of the original bombs as they were 200 years prior. It was a bomb that only went down on his town, as far as I understood and it happened only a few years back, wenn Maximus was a child. I dont know where that bomb came from, but the show does explain who was behind it (kinda anyways), but I guess we will find out more in Season 2. Anyway, I enjoyed your video ! :)

Ahhh, I see haha. Yeah nah, that part of the show confused the heck outta me tbh, but that definitely makes more sense. Just wish they could've been more clear w it tbh cause they kinda just mentioned it and moved on. Anyways - Cheers for enjoying my video, appreciate it a lot!

@@Insane-OStyle Lucy and Max where confused as well so I won't blame you, but yeah the bomb on Shady sands happened 200 years after the great war when Max and Lucy where kids.

also the end of the world was in 2077, it's a retrofuturistic alternate universe, which is to say a future that looks the way they thought the future would look in the past. If you look closely in the birthday party there is one of the robots that would later try to harvest Lucy's organs floating around.

I have some extra details that you missed! The Vault 4 subplot is a nod to the quest structures in the Fallout games. They were on a main quest to retrieve the scientist's head, but found a vault along the way, which lead them down a rabbit hole of the history of the vault and its current occupants. Quick little side quest, over and done with in the span of an episode altogether. Also, regarding the time setting; The Great War (initial nuclear bombardment) happened in 2077, not the Cold War. This is an alternate universe where nuclear technology made huge leaps in advancements after the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, hence the retro-futuristic aesthetic. The time skip brings us to the present day. Ghouls are biologically immortal, but can still die from external causes, which explains how Cooper was able to live for so long. Regarding Maximus saying that the bombs dropped when he was a kid; Shady Sands was blown to smithereens by Lucy's dad when she was still a kid. Lucy's mom took her into the wastes to live among people and help them thrive. He blew them up because they were working on a process called Cold Fusion, which is capable of providing unlimited nuclear energy, which he didn't want. Lucy's dad is one of the residents that came from Vault 31. He's over 200 years old, but cryostasis afforded him safety from the nuclear fallout. Norman's quest was about discovering the secrets behind the interconnected vaults, and why every overseer of Vault 33 has been a transfer from Vault 31. Pretty good analysis overall from the perspective of a Fallout outsider!

Good video mate, think most your points have been answered in the comments, like the bombs that dropped when max was a child was caused by Lucy's dad because they didn't want them to start another city. Also, the brain that talks to Norm is "Bud Askins" the guy that keeps pissing off Cooper Howard in the past scenes. Him and Coopers Mrs were the ones that thought of the idea of dropping the nukes themselves and using cryogenic chambers.

There's an interesting theory video "Is the Ghoul Getting Scammed" if you want to dive into the character a bit more and some hints where things might go in the future if that theory isn't more than just a fan theory. I personally find it believable because how does asthma = turning feral? I thought it was a mistake in the show, but now I think it's a hint that there's something else going on that Cooper will have to confront down the road.

The final set where Moldaver is lairing looks to me like an homage to the opening of Fallout 1. Yeah, they made the sets pop in a way I haven't seen in a bit.

Lil info- the bombs from the Great War (the war that ended with the Apocalypse) did happen 200 years ago, but maximus saw another bomb, AFTER the war, recently, when he was a kid That was the destruction of Shady Sands, which was done by Lucy's dad, when both she and Maximus were kids. Shady Sands was also a capitol of the New California Republic, a state that emerged after the great war in the Wasteland. And the main bad guy, or so we are led to believe, lived in Shady Sands and knew Lucys mother. Its all near the end of the show, and knowing the fallout lore makes it easier to piece together, because shady sands was a place that existed long after the war. Hope thar clears it up :3

to expand on the aesthetics the fallout universe is what's called "retrofuturism" it's not actually the 1950s it's what a person from that time would think 2077 would look like. all tech is powered by fusion, all the future tech is radiation based, the big scientific craze at the time.

9:46 actually almost nobody in this series has appeared in the games. Ok, like one guy who was in one scene was a character on a screen in one game. Everyone else is an original character and the story is entirely original. It's an expansive universe so there are an essentially infinite number of possible stories to tell within that world between the bombs dropping to the era of the show. That said, they chose stories that would significantly add to the universe and our understanding of how events unfolded, since they had a unique position of being able to show us things that they couldn't really show in the games where we are embodying a particular character who has a more limited perspective.

I hear what you’re saying here. What I was actually trying to say in the video was that the characters shown (main characters, side characters, extras etc) looked like they matched the setting of the show and actually belonged on the show haha. Don’t worry, I’m well aware that none of these characters (probably) aren’t in any of the actual games ahaha. Cheers! ❤

The opening setting, does not take place in the 1950s, Cooper Howard and his daughter Janey are performing at a birthday party when the bombs drop in 2077, the bombs Maximus is referring to are bombs dropped in 2277. The aesthetics are 1950s\cold war... their timeline is different than ours. Their technology is big and clunky, you see a robot in the opening scene. Also, just to quibble with your critique of Vault-tec's motivation - normal people look and say "if you destroy the world, what's the point?", oil execs say "to hell with the world, let's burn it all down". Corporations don't have a column in their bookkeeping records for sustainability.

Thats fair tbh. Yeah, I did state later in the vid that "I heard that it was 'based' on the aesthetic of the mid 20th century but it wasn't actually the 1950's, just a different year", but all g's. I still thought their motives were pretty dumb tbh, like - sure, "may the best man win", but overall, who tf is gonna care? She'll be right tbh

To be fair, quite a few points I made such as ghoul's skills w guns and Max talking abt how the bombs dropped as a kid flew over my head. The max one was pretty discreet but I should've picked up on the ghoul one ahaha. But aside from that, my zoomer ass can be fucking retarded a lot of the times - and believe it or not I was watching this with my fam with my full attention, LMAO. I do apologise for that though ahaha, I'm still building up some skills and shit and when I do more reviews in the future, I'm definitely gonna be paying more attention to what I write. Hopefully not make as many mistakes as i did in this video. Live and learn Ig

The ghoul was actually taking a drug called jet which is the fallout universe equivalent to meth. In the games, your character can actually be addicted to it and it was sorta a reference to that.
